Chapter 33: good news.

Book:Alpha Kai's Revenge Published:2025-3-4

Verena after settling the men for their jobs stayed back for a while after they had left to compose a letter for her father
“There is so much I want to tell him!” She exclaimed, tapping the pen against her lips. “Where do I start?!”
Daisy who had offered her back as a writing post wasn’t sure of what to say. “Perhaps start with how you will soon be the Luna!”
Verena thought about that for a while. “I’ll just start with how his drugs worked perfectly fine!”
She started to pen down the words she wanted to say, pouting out her gratefulness as much as she could.
She knew her father would come through for her. He had always fone. Anything she asked he would do it for, and so would her brothers. She Knew that telling him about Karen it would only be a matter of time before something was done.
He had given her a drug. According to him, it was a new formula he was working on. Wolves were normally resistant to human medicine, with their body systems being completely different.
But her father was working on that. He had developed a drug that could work on a werewolf, and all that has to be done was a consistent administration of the dosage.
That was a piece of cake. It wasn’t so easy to drug one servant’s food. No one would ever bother to notice in the first place.
The icing on the cake after the last dose was a total frame up.
Verena felt vindictive. She was angry that an outsider had dated to manipulate her alpha, the one she was in love with. And she had taken concise measures so it couldn’t ever be traced back to her.
Verena hummed as she wrote down what she wanted to say. She thanked him for a wonderful job, telling him how perfect it was and how the traitor would soon be executed. She felt so excited as she wrote it down.
Once she was done she folded the paper and put it in an envelope. She sealed the envelope. She handed it over to Daisy.
“You know what to do.” She said.
Daisy collected the letter and nodded. “I’ll not disappoint you, mistress.”
Verena rolled her eyes. “Hurry up.” She said with a wave.
She had an execution to watch. But first, there were a few places she had to visit.

On getting to the pack house late afternoon, the first person Verena sighted was Nicolas. She felt her heart skip and she quickly ducked into a corner to hide from him. Luckily he didn’t sight her. She waited for him to pass and once he did she heaved a sigh of relief.
It hurt her a bit, running from him and pretending like she didn’t know what he wanted.
Damn mate bond.
But Kai was the one she wanted. He was the one she was in love with. And if Nicolas did came up to her and expressively said that she was his mate, she would reject him on the spot.
Verena took the basket with her and headed to her room. Daisy was yet to return from delivering the letter. Verena dropped the basket off in her room and headed to the dining room for some food.
To her greatest shock, both Kai and Nicolas were already there.
She froze in the doorway her eyes instantly meeting Nicolas. He looked away first, going back to his food. Verena quickly recovered and smiled. She bowed to Kai
“Good morning my alpha, good morning Nicolas.” She said.
Kai looked up at her. “How are you Verena?”
“I’m very good, thank you.” She replied. More than good even.
“Come, join us.”
Verena nodded and hopped over to the seat close to Kai. A maid came in and brought her meal. It was pasta in white sauce cooked with shrimps and spring onion.
Kai and Nicolas were talking about an Alpha who had invited Kai to a party of some sort.
“He’s saying you disrespected him.” Nicolas said.
“Tell him to go fuck himself.” Kai snapped. “No, I’ll tell him myself.”
Verena chuckled to herself. Kai turned to her sharply, a dark brow raised.
“Do you find it funny?” He asked.
Verena shook her head. “It’s not that, my alpha. It’s just…. you’re back.”
Kai raised his brows. “Is that so?”
She nodded. “Yes. And I very much like this side of you.”
He looked stunned for a while. Then he said: “Thank you, Verena. You’re too kind.”
Verena nearly squealed with joy. It had been so long since Kai had spoken to her so kindly. She ducked her head, blushing shyly.
Nicolas coughed.
Verena raised her head and glared at him .
“What shall we tell the messenger?” He asked Kai.
“Go fuck yourself.” Kai replied calmly.
“Me?!”
“No not you Nicolas. The damn messenger! ” Kai snapped irritably.
Verena sighed in relief. Her alpha was back. At long last. She ate her pasta with relish, listening into the conversation. Even though she often had nothing to contribute to the conversation, just being near Kai and listening to him talk was more than enough for her.
He was all she wanted. As long as she had him, nothing else mattered.
A furious set of knocks sounded on the door, drawing everyone’s attention to it.
“What is it?!. Kai’s voice boomed. He hated being interrupted more than anything, Verena knew that too well.
“My alpha! It’s a grave emergency!”
Kai groaned. “Come in!”
A guard burst into the dining room and instantly went on his knees. “My alpha! The…”
“Speak already!” Kai commanded.
“The slave has escaped!”
Verena rose to her feet in a start. “What?!” She screamed out.
“When did this happen!” Kai asked the guard.
“Her cell was empty! And the guard in charge of her was passed out, the keys stolen.”
Verena could feel the anger rising in Kai. She took a step back, the legs of her chair scraping on the floor.
“How could you let one slave escape?!” His voice thundered.
