The early sunrise tinted the sky finding its way through the mini room, the morning was peaceful but not so long. Jasira trembled from her sleep muttering some inaudible words, her low muttering soon became louder and clearer.
“It was not my idea, don’t kill me, please. Please! Help! Alejandro!” She screamed flying up from her sleep drenched in sweat.
She stared blankly at the wall panting loudly.
She was okay! She roamed her hand all over her body looking for the blood she was drenched in back at her dream, it was all a dream. She assured herself climbing down the bed shakingly.
“You are okay, Jasira,” She muttered assuringly to herself as she walked wobbly to the ensuite.
This mission would be the end of her, she had never had a terrible nightmare like this, the supposed lord caught her, stabbed her arm, and dragged her by the hair to feed her to his dogs.
Yes, that was scary. She needed to opt out of this mission but it’s freaking impossible.
“Ahhhh!” She screamed punching the air. “I hate my life!” She screamed with tears rolling down her eyes as she swiped away all her beauty products on the shelves.
“Why can’t my life be normal?” She sobbed sliding to the floor. “I freaking hate this world!” She screamed before her yell turned into a low sob.
“I hate this world, I hate my life, I hate Alejandro, I fucking hate everything!” She screamed pulling her hair before sobbing loudly in the ensuite.
After an hour of having a series of breakdowns, she had her shower and sat in front of the dresser. She brought out her makeup kit, she needed to conceal her black eyes. Sadly; this was her life. After a breakdown, you have to pick yourself up, you never know when things will get better.
She quickly applied her makeup as fast as she could, the makeup was not as perfect as she wanted, she wanted something that would hide that she ever cried but this was nothing to that.
She packed up her makeup kit and stood up to get something from the kitchen.
Lucky for her, there was nobody in the kitchen, so she quickly fixed her breakfast of omelet and tea.
***********
“My lord,” She muttered barely above a whisper as she stared at everywhere else but his gaze, all that he did yesterday plastered into her brain.
She might not felt better yesterday but she remembered everything vividly and his action clearly shocked her. Is he changing for her?
“Your mission is next week.” Alejandro started and her heart skipped a bit. She had been trying not to think about the mission since her breakdown.
“You need to practice.” Her head jerked towards him immediately.
“Practice?” She asked shocked.
“Yes,” Alejandro answered standing up from the high chair he sat on.
“Which weapon can you handle?” He asked walking up to the shelves he used to keep his weapons.
“Weapons? I… I don’t know.”
“Huh?” He snapped turning to her suddenly. “You got to be kidding me, you’d just get yourself killed at this rate.”
Jasira swallowed the sudden huge lump in her throat, what was he saying? What did he mean?
“Gun?” He questioned and she quickly shook her head.
“No, anything but a gun.”
“Gawd!” He groaned frustrated rubbing his forehead.
“Knives? Dart? Pen knife?”
“Pen knives.” She chose after debating for a while.
“Okay then.” He put the passcodes and the shelves open revealing different kinds of weapons ranging from guns to knives to darts of different shapes, sizes, and types. He picked out a penknife before closing the shelf.
“Here.” He passed it to her. “It’s very light so you should be able to manage it.”
“Okay.” She muttered gently collecting from him making sure that her fingers didn’t touch his but he did the most crazy things that left her mouth open. He grabbed her wrist and pulled her close to his chest.
She gasped shocked at his action. “Alejandro!”
“Shh.” He muttered hugging her close to his chest. Jasira listened to his low rhythm with a lot of thoughts roaming around in her head.
Her heart beat loudly in her chest due to the fear emitting from her, Is he drunk? She thought but she couldn’t smell alcohol from him earlier. She felt his low pat on her back and that only increased her anxiety.
“Am I safe?”
He grabbed both sides of her head and made her stare into his gaze and for the first time since she knew him. There was no coldness in his eyes, it was free of emotion but she could see a tiny glint of fear in them.
“This is a serious mission Jasira, no amount of weapons can help you right now.”
Her heart skipped and fear overwhelmed the tiny courage she had left.
She places her hand on his. “Then send another person, please.”
She saw how his eyes flared up before it returned to normal.
“Okay, I understand you need this but what about my life?” She saw his blue eyes getting darker and quickly shut up. She wouldn’t want to risk the little things they are having.
“O… okay, I will stop.” She muttered sadly stepping out of his embrace and moving two steps back.
“Jasira,” He snapped before she could take the third step. She stayed rooted to the ground wondering why her body reacted to him before she could do it.
She didn’t turn back but she could feel him behind her back. “I need you Jasira, more than anybody.” She swallowed her lump.
“Don’t worry, I’m going to protect you no matter what.”
