Tristan’s POV
I carried Elona into her bedroom. No one else was there in her house. I lay her gently down on her bed, removing the duvet and her heels, discarding them to one side on the ground. I can’t believe this is what she is resorting to. She knows better than this. I was sitting in my lounge, busy on the laptop when Eric called me to get them, telling me about Elona. I didn’t care that Maggie was left behind, I rushed to get them.
When I saw Elona passed out on the bathroom floor, I thought that something had happened to her. I was not impressed with that. She groaned, and her eyes fluttered open a little bit. I moved her hair away from her face and pulled the duvet over her. The words that echoed in my mind were what she said. I didn’t know what she meant by “We lost a baby.” Surely she didn’t know what she was talking about, and I’m sure that whatever she took made her say those things.
I sat down on a chair. I kept the lamp on as I watched her sleep. I am fuming because of Austin. That is not what I want for Elona. She doesn’t get that much influenced by people and if I’m the cause of that… I don’t know what to do. But I don’t want Elona to go down this road. She has a life ahead of her. I need to have a word with Austin too.
As I watched her intently, I noticed that no one could ever come close to her and what we had. She deserves better than me. All the dreams of what I wanted with her and our future are down the drain. I sucked in a breath, took my phone out of my pocket and I called David.
Placing the phone against my ear, I waited as his phone rang. It was almost midnight. I bet he traveled somewhere to look at a property or something. He does Real Estate for an investment firm, so he travels around the globe, inspecting properties and all that shit.
“Yes?” he answered with annoyance.
“I get that you hate me right now, but Elona is sick, and I brought her home from the club. Eric called me. I called to let you know,” I said softly, as I continued to watch over her.
“Thanks, I thought that it was only a photoshoot, but thank you for getting her home. Can you keep an eye on her? I don’t know how soon I will be back home, perhaps tomorrow afternoon,” he said. Hope arose at his words.
“Sure, I will look after her,” I replied.
“Thanks, and please behave. Don’t you dare hurt her heart any further,” he warned me, and that little hope vanished again.
“I promise,” I said, and then he hung up. I shoved my phone back into my pocket.
She stirred, groaning. “Tristan,” she said weakly.
“I’m right here,” I leaned forward in my chair.
“I don’t feel well,” she groaned, I stood up quickly and got the trashcan that was in the corner by her desk and I hurried back to her, holding the trashcan close to her as she leaned forward, gagging and all the contents released from her stomach. I reached out to her with my other hand and moved her hair out of the way.
She stopped as her back hit the bed again, she was weak and pale. I placed the trashcan on the floor beside her bed and I took a wet wipe from her bedside table, wiping my hands, and then I took another one as I sat down beside her on the bed, reaching out, and wiping her mouth.
I really need to have a talk with her once she is better. I hate to see her this way. My phone rang, I placed the wet wipes on the bedside table and stood up, taking my phone out of my pocket. Maggie.
I answered, “Yes?” Now I was the one being annoyed.
I walked out of Elona’s bedroom. “Where are you?” she asked.
“I’m busy, so what is it?” I asked as I walked down the stairs.
“Well, you left without a word, and I was worried. When will you be back?” she asked as I entered the kitchen.
“I don’t know, if you’re hungry there is food, just make yourself at home. Do not try to get me back home for your needs. I have my own things that I need to deal with.”
“Such as Elona, right?”
I let out a sigh, “I don’t have time for this.”
“Well, I heard what Spooky told Cris. You are with her and I want you to be back because I don’t want to live this way when you are with her and throwing me away. I’m carrying your child,” she hissed.
“Maggie, my home is not your home, and it will never be. I don’t know what you think, but you only have a week, and then you’re out. So, don’t push my buttons, or else I will throw you out sooner than the end of the week.” I hissed through clenched teeth.
“You forget what the doctor said. I cannot have stress and I need to be taken care of,” she said.
“Bye, Maggie,” I hung up. What she doesn’t know is that I’m getting someone to keep an eye on her. She won’t like it, but I don’t give a shit.
I turned my phone to silent and shoved it in my pocket. I reached for a glass in the top cupboard, and poured some water into the glass, taking it to Elona. When I got to her, she was still out like a candle. I placed the glass on the bedside table and returned to the chair as I continued to watch her.
I bet she is dreaming, how I wish to see what is going on in her head. I don’t know how the morning will be when she wakes up and finds me here, but I won’t leave her side. I wish that I could hold her, but that won’t happen. I wish that things had been different, but I am at fault for everything.
We all make mistakes and learn from them. Maggie is my biggest regret and lesson. I lost more because of those decisions I made. I deserve a miserable life with Maggie. I don’t even feel like it’s a good idea for Elona to go back to Dakota Agency again, even though Eric will be there. Perhaps I can still keep an eye on her from afar.
I leaned forward in the chair, hunched over, my elbows resting on my knees just thinking about my life so far. I won’t ever come back from this life that I have now. I also have to deal with a selfish daughter who doesn’t care about my own happiness. I watched Elona again, my heart constantly pulled towards her and I don’t know how to actually let go because I love her so much.
