*knock knock*
“Hey, you okay in there?”
Silence…
“Hello?” The man raps on the door a little louder than before. Panic begins to settle in his system as he wouldn’t hear the girl locked inside his bathroom speak.
Ravine had pulled the bathroom cupboard towards the door and rests in the flowing water of the bathtub.
4 minutes left…
“Ravine!?” Cassandra had reached Ravine’s house. She did expect Ravine’s brother to leave her alone as she had heard the story.
But she didn’t think the house would look so riddled with darkness and isolation that it sent a chill down her spine. The kitchen windows were left open, as well as the living room windows.
“What the fuck is she thinking…?” Walking up the stairs to reach Ravine’s bedroom, Cassandra rings her phone for the last time in a dumb measure of hope.
Her head whips towards the room where the phone was making noise. The ringtone was weird, nothing like Ravine’s classy songs or music playing as ringtone.
“What the fuck…”
“Ravine!” She roars her name, only to be welcomed by silence as well. She searches for the switches to switch the lights on.
Her right side was severing her delicate body like a raw chainsaw.
“Fucking hell…” walking towards the phone to take it, she stops the call as she explores the girl’s phone.
[Proceed with caution: su*cide attempt]
Meanwhile at the man’s house, he was panicking out of his mind to listen nothing from the girl in the bathroom. The sounds of water flowing was stopped as well.
“Ravine! Open the door!” The man suddenly yells.
“I’m calling the police dammit!” The man yells again, Ravine scoffs as she plays with the blade in her hand. She was confident that by the time the said police arrives, they might as well take her corpse out as free service.
“Ravine!” Eugene yells again, only to be ignored by the girl soaking neatly in the bathtub.
“Fucking Jesus…” grumbling under his breath, Eugene strides in his big room to reach his phone stand and call the police.
On the other hand, Cassandra was looking at the profile she was seen chatting. She was reading their recent texts sent to each other at 10 in the night.
[Hey, Eugene. You free tonite?] Ravine had texted at 10:13pm.
[Yeah, i am.. come over] the man texts back.
“What the fuck is going on?” Terribly confused by the series of events, Cassandra realises that the girl on the other side was trying to do something funny in someone else’s house.
“That fucking crazy bitch!” Crying out loud, Cassandra calls the man immediately without a thought.
Eugene, who was dialing a regional police officer’s number from his directory was interrupted by an incoming call.
“Huh?” He was gravely confused when he sees the name on display. It was the same girl who was inside his bathroom, locked and not responding to him.
Cassandra connects her phone’s app with the other mobile’s call. She was tracking the signals.
“Hello?” Cassandra widens her eyes in surprise when the man responds from the other side.
“Hello? Hello! Oh my God!”
“Who is this? Man, this girl is crazy-”
“I know, sir! C-could you please put me on speaker to where she is!? I need to talk to her!” Cassandra closes her eyes in fright.
There was less than a minute for her to save her friend’s life.
“Talk to her? She’s locked herself in the bathroom!”
“Sir, please put me on speaker. I- I will talk to her!” Cassandra chews her head out as she was thinking of a reasonable explanation to stop Ravine from taking her life. She must come up with yet another grand lie to distract Ravine the knick of the moment.
34 seconds left.
“RAVINE! Argh…” Cassandra holds her abrasion which was hurting her with every breath.
“Ravine, I heard you came to visit me.” Ravine hears the girl against the door.
The blade was swinging between her fingers as it stops when she hears the girl.
“I came to your house to talk to you, b-but you were not here and your phone… your phone was left here. What the fuck you think you’re doing in another man’s house this late, you fucker!?” Cassandra yells through the phone. Ravine scoffs again. She’s grown immune to everyone calling her a waste of space and dehumanizing her so much so that she forgot how to live a life normally.
“Ravine? Answer me. I know you’re listening to me.”
12 seconds left.
The sharp blade was on her wrist as she takes a deep breath in.
Cassandra was trying her hardest not to cry, break down in front of the girl as she talked.
“Ravine… you are my best friend.”
7 seconds left…
Ravine was in the bathtub. She was ready to paint it red.
“You’re my best friend, Ravine. My only friend who I love like a sister. Answer me dammit…”
At last, Cassandra broke down on the call.
The turmoil of emotions in her heart and mind were making her feel exhausted to live.
For the next three seconds, they hear Cassandra wail and sob like a child.
23:45…
And thirty seconds later…
The girl in the bathtub paints the white ceramic.
Eugene was utterly confused by their friendship. And the whole scenario.
Cassandra looks at the itch on her hand fade.
She doesn’t know if she’s succeeded or failed the mission miserably. All she knew was that she was calling Ravine her best friend.
But it was towards the girl who was visiting her for the last time in her astral plane.
They hear nothing from Cassandra after that. It was as if the girl on the other side had frozen herself.
Cassandra was taken to the astral plane, again.
She was traumatized to see Louis there already, months back.
She didn’t want to see another person bid her goodbye in the most painful way.
It was painful for Cassandra, because it didn’t seem like a real fucking goodbye for her.
“Hey, bestie.” Cassandra sees Ravine approaching her.
“I’m proud of your decision to keep me alive.”
It wasn’t her decision.
She only felt it right when Ravine disappears from the future.
“Thank you for being my best friend. Hehe!”
Cassandra was forced to watch Ravine fade like golden, shining glitter into the dark heaven above. It was as if Ravine’s soul was being brought back to Ravine, the original soul for the name.
Cassandra drops back to the human realm, to realise that she had succeeded her last mission.
Now, she would wait for a few moments for the mystic being to grant her permission to go back to her Era.
Back to 2057.
