Rosalind nodded and sighed, “It seems Malcolm will give Johnny a hard time.”
“That’s their business,” Ulric said, not wanting to interfere. His handsome face showed displeasure. “Why did Malcolm call you?”
Shouldn’t he have called Tilda?
“Maybe he thought Tilda wouldn’t tell the truth, and it was Tilda’s parents who asked him to call me, to get a different perspective,” Rosalind explained as she leaned into his arms.
“Do you still not believe that there’s nothing between Malcolm and me?”
“Heh,” Ulric sneered. “You might not have feelings for him, but he does for you.”
The last time they were at Malcolm’s house, Ulric could feel Malcolm’s hostility from start to finish.
It was unmistakable.
On one hand, Malcolm said he had moved on and just wanted to be friends, but on the other hand, he was hostile towards Rosalind’s man. Did that even need explaining?
Rosalind pouted. “Why do I sense a hint of jealousy in your tone?”
Ulric didn’t hide it. He pressed her against the wall, kissing her deeply before letting her go.
“I’m jealous, but unlike Malcolm, I can kiss you whenever I want.”
Rosalind’s face turned red, and the taste of Ulric lingered on her lips. She loved this tender intimacy.
When they returned to the restaurant, Tilda had already stood up from her chair.
Rosalind walked over and took her hand. “Going to see Malcolm?”
“Yeah,” Tilda pouted and sighed. “I know I’m going to get scolded! But I have to go calm my cousin down. If he says anything bad about Johnny to my parents, Johnny’s image will be ruined.”
“I’ll go with you,” Johnny said as he stood up too. He couldn’t let Tilda face this alone.
“You shouldn’t come,” Tilda waved her hand. “Let me talk to my cousin first. We can’t be too aggressive with him.”
Malcolm was stubborn. He seemed gentle and warm but was actually very headstrong and unyielding.
“Then I’ll take you there and wait outside,” Johnny insisted firmly. He looked at Tilda with a serious expression. “No matter who it is-your parents or your cousin-as long as you’re determined not to leave me, no one can break us apart.”
His words moved Tilda, so she nodded in agreement.
Hearing this also touched Rosalind.
She had thought about whether she and Ulric could stay together if she ended up sending his mother to jail and breaking ties with the Walters family.
When everything was settled down, if he was still willing…
“What are you thinking about?” Ulric approached and kissed her forehead.
Rosalind smiled. “Nothing. I just suddenly felt… Johnny really likes Tilda. I hope they can be together forever.”
“His feelings run deeper than just liking her. If I hadn’t heard it myself, I wouldn’t have believed those words came from him.”
Who was Johnny?
He was the notorious playboy of Northville City. Everyone knew him.
Now he had been tamed by Tilda and was even thinking about marriage and having children of his own, he must be very serious.
Rosalind was quite surprised too. However, Tilda’s happiness was what mattered most. As Tilda herself said, the future was uncertain, so what was important was to seize the day.
She looked up at Ulric. “Once you’re done with work at the company, let’s go back to Sweden. I’m worried about your injury.”
“No rush. There’s one more thing we need to do.”
“What?”
“I’ll go with you to visit your mother’s grave.”
