Ayan nodded lightly to indicate his understanding and refrained from saying anything further.
Mario had to return to Flento City today, so he didn’t waste any time and left the Simpson Group to head to the airport.
On the way to the airport, he called Sienna.
He made the call, fully expecting that it would go unanswered. Sienna had long since blocked him. Although he had already experienced this outcome before, it still left him with a lingering sense of frustration.
He used his secretary’s phone and called Sienna.
The call was answered quickly, and her lively voice came through. “Who is this?”
“It’s me,” a man’s indifferent voice responded.
The person on the other end of the line froze.
If it weren’t for the call showing as connected, he might have thought it had been hung up.
Sienna was stunned.
Why was he calling?
Sienna was in a daze for a while without any response until the man on the other end spoke again, “Say something.”
“Do you need something?” She reflexively responded with a defensive tone after feeling threatened. When faced with a slightly serious tone from the other party, she immediately became cautious with her words.
She regretted not going home earlier and insisted on going to the supermarket to buy some food.
She felt helpless.
If she hadn’t gone to the supermarket, she would have been at home chatting with Camille via video call by now and wouldn’t have received this call.
It seemed that she should avoid answering calls from unfamiliar numbers in the future.
Sienna’s thoughts were clear to Mario.
He calmly said, “I’m returning to Flento City.”
Sienna pursed her lips and replied in a calm tone, “Well, I wish you success in your work.”
Her response was cold, almost colder than that of a stranger.
Mario couldn’t help but chuckle in amusement. He said, “Don’t you have anything to say to me?”
“No,” she replied honestly.
Her attitude was somewhat cold.
Mario asked, “Do you think I can no longer deal with you now?”
“Mr. King, if you called me just to issue a warning, then I can only tell you that I’m already married. If you want to threaten me or do something to tarnish my reputation, I can’t stop you. After all, it’s your decision. What can I change?” she said indifferently. Her tone was slightly displeased and unhappy.
Mario raised his hand and rubbed his forehead. His expression became gloomy and desolate as he hoarsely said, “Do you really have to be aggressive towards me? Can’t you just talk to me properly?”
“How can I talk to you properly? I am a married woman. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with my attitude,” she replied calmly.
“Do you want me to publicly announce your married status so that you don’t have to mention it every time?” Mario said indifferently. His tone had become extremely cold.
Sienna fell silent.
Mario continued, “Do you think you’ve hidden it well? You share your joy of being pregnant with Camille every day and search for various information about pregnancy together. Do you think I don’t know anything?”
Sienna was shocked into silence.
She opened her mouth but couldn’t make a sound for a while.
Mario simply snorted and said, “I just don’t want to argue with you about all this. But if you continue treating me like this, I can make time for you, even if you’re pregnant.”
His words carried a hint of threat.
Sienna said, “Mario, are you crazy?”
“Maybe!” He didn’t deny it at all.
Sienna was furious to the point that she felt a pang of pain in her stomach. In a low voice, she said, “I don’t know what you want from me, but I warn you, don’t harbor any inappropriate thoughts about me. You can’t hurt my child or ruin my marriage. Otherwise… I’ll make sure you regret it.”
Sienna’s voice trembled with suppressed sobs. She really couldn’t believe it, but she knew that Mario was a ruthless person.
He could be cruel to himself and others.
Sienna was on the verge of collapse.
She took a deep breath and tried hard to control her emotions. She didn’t want to continue feeling so agitated.
But no matter what she did, she couldn’t control herself. She was genuinely worried and afraid. She didn’t want Mario to harm her child or Rex.
She had gone through a lot. It was he who abandoned her first. Why did he threaten her like this now?
Sienna said, “I know that nothing I say can threaten you. You’ve always been self-centered. If it’s because I’m living happily now and it bothers you, then I apologize. But please leave me alone! I’m begging you. Stop watching over me like this. If there is another life after this one, I hope that in that life, you won’t give up on me. Maybe then we can be happy together. But now… you and I are never going to happen.”
Whatever he did, they couldn’t get back together.
After she finished her words, the other end of the line was quiet.
She couldn’t see Mario’s expression but knew that he must be looking very unpleasant right now.
The silence lasted for a while before she heard him say indifferently, “I only said one thing, and you’ve countered with a hundred. If you truly believe you can’t threaten me, then what makes you think I would listen to you?”
“What do you want then?”
“I want you to avoid any intimate contact with him in front of me from now on. And don’t treat me like this. The King family is your home too. Don’t disregard it just because of someone else. If you do, I might really be capable of anything.”
With that said, he hung up without giving Sienna a chance to respond.
His words left Sienna confused about his intentions.
In the end, Sienna couldn’t find an answer. She didn’t want to waste any more time thinking about it. She was truly exhausted.
But she could sense that Mario probably wouldn’t give her a hard time anymore. That would be enough for her. As for the conditions he mentioned, she could agree as long as he left her alone.
Sienna drove back home and took some time to calm down before calling Camille.
She told Camille everything that had just happened. She asked Camille, “Do you think Mario is crazy?”
“He let you go, yet here you are, saying he’s crazy. Maybe he thought things through and realized that since you’re pregnant, there’s no need for him to keep bothering you,” Camille replied with a smile.
“I hope Jillian will make him fall in love with her. Otherwise, I’ll still feel uneasy.” Sienna sighed.
Camille chuckled and said sincerely, “Sienna, level with me. Do you feel relieved or somewhat regretful?”
