“Shit!” Devine cursed as he stared at his wristwatch. Nuella would be done with her class in 10 minutes and he had promised himself to go pick her up from school. He needed her to speak about whatever was happening to her.
When he picked her up at the spot where he had asked her to wait for his arrival, her eyes held a spark, but they were not the usual bright sparks that eloped his dark heart with its brightness. They were sparks that she wore to distract him from noticing and asking.
He pulled his coat from the back of his chair and walked out of his all-glass office, ignoring the flinch that his assistant had made when he stepped out.
He visited his protection agency company today to attend to a few files that were not sent to him over the weekend and had a scheduled meeting with one of the senators, but at this moment. Anything can wait.
“Are you on your way out, sir?” His secretary asked, clearly shaken.
“Cancel my appointment with the senator and reschedule.”He ordered ignoring his secretary’s question.
“Right away sir.”
Devine did not wait to hear her next reply he only heard it behind him, after he had stepped out, ready to take the elevator.

Devine sat in his car, with one hand on his wheel while the other held onto his phone, tracking Nuella’s movement. She was some meters away from him and that meant she was still very close. He had installed a tracker on her phone and that was the perfect way to keep his eyes on her. He had other men’s that monitored her other movement but he didn’t trust the eyes of another. His eyes moved in a blur, scanning every student that was passing, and only stopped when his eyes spotted her, admist the group of people that was passing, his eyes found her, so easily.
He stepped out of the car.
“Momma.” He called softly, yet it was firm enough to grip the walls of her ears.
The lines on Nuella’s face washed off, replaced with a bright smile as she caught a glimpse of Devine.
Her steps became two times faster than the way they were some minutes back and in no time she had covered the entire space between them.
Devine’s heart melted and he opened the door for her.
“Thank you.” She whispered before stepping into the car.
“Hey.” His voice was thick, yet soft and it melted her workies way.
“Hey.” She whispered looking down her nose.
Silence stepped in for some seconds and Devine used that little moment of silent to admire how adorable she looked in a low-waisted trouser. A satin bottom down too that revealed the lines of her bra. Her brown hair framed her oval face delicately.
The silence stretched further consuming the air with its weight but Devine did not let it stay longer than it already has.
His eye roamed around her body, so sensually that Nuella clamped her legs tightly her pussy burning from the weight of Devine gaze.
“You look breathtaking, momma.” The undertone of his voice had her throat flexing hard as she swallowed in.
“Thank you.”She replied, staring at her fingers.
Silence took over the air again and Devine’s jaws tightened. He thought that starting with complements would lighten up her mood, but he was wrong.
He adjusted to have a side view of her face.
“You know I suck at talking, but what I sucks at most is watching you this way. Talk to me, momma. You know you can, right?
Nuella nodded, softly, but she was far from wanting to even say a word.
“Tell me who the person is. Tell me about the person that is messing up your day and In a snap of my finger I will have his head rolling on the floor, right at your feet.”
Nuella raised a gaze. She saw the agitation in his eyes and they delighted her as much as his words. She was used to hearing this kind of word from her father, but none of it ever made her at ease as she was at the moment. Every other time she would probably flinch in fear, and those impacts were not because her father had a thicker voice to command it. No. They sounded to her as evil yet these similar words from her father that sounded to her ear as evil came from Sicily’s most feared Mafia man and it seemed to her like protection.
Devine watched as her shoulder relaxed, and his tensed body relaxed as well.
He reached for her cheeks and cupped it up gently.
“I will burn down the world if they dare to hurt you. Just the name of whoever it is and I make sure they breathe their last today.”
Nuella’s eyes prickled with tears and she stared at Devine with blurry eyes.
“I would love for you to burn it up, only that my worries are nightmares, not physical objects.”
A muscle In his jaws tightened and his grip against his wheel tightened. He knew she used to have nightmares, but he never knew that she still had them and he felt a flex in his throat as he swallowed hard. Being helpless was never an option for him. He refused to be helpless.
“Tell me the details about your night…… I will search the entire world and burn that object that triggers your nightmare.
Nuella stared at Devine for some minutes, eyes blurry with tears as she took in his world.
The object that haunted her was not just the change in her doll, it was the darkness that eventual eloped the room. The same darkness that gave her anxiety and made her uneasy was the same darkness that the presence of Devine screamed, yet he was her light.
“Take me away.” Nuella sobbed, with Invisible tears.
“I want to be away from here, with you. In your arms.
