I struggled out of his embrace and then picked out a set of clothes from his wardrobe to change into.
Honestly, it seemed like I was becoming more and more comfortable in his apartment. Looking at Kael’s closet, I noticed that the number of women’s clothes had grown, and they were all expensive brands. I knew Kael’s family was wealthy, so these things meant nothing to him.
“Seraphina, how about this blue dress? When I bought it, I thought it would suit you perfectly,” Kael said, walking over and pulling out a lake-blue dress from the closet. It was made of chiffon, light and soft, with a delicate texture. Under the incandescent light, the dress seemed to shimmer. It was completely different from the clothes in my wardrobe.
I put the dress on, and it fit like a second skin, hugging my body perfectly, from my arms to my waistline. Looking at the girl in the mirror, the lake-blue dress made my skin appear even smoother and more radiant. My long, curly hair fell over my shoulders, adding a touch of sophistication to my appearance. I turned around, examining myself in the mirror. I realized I had become more confident, no longer the timid girl I used to be.
Kael’s intense gaze lingered on me, burning like flames. Finally, he stepped forward, pulled me into his arms, and kissed my cheek. “Baby, I knew it-you look stunning in this dress!” he said, his admiration evident.
I could feel the warmth of his body, and at the same time, something hard pressed against me from behind. It felt like a rod. My God, Kael had gotten aroused just because I was wearing a dress! “You’re such a horny dog,” I snapped.
“No, no, I’m a wolf-a male wolf,” Kael laughed, then let me go. “I know we both have important things to do. You need to explain things to your friend, and I need to deal with this false accusation. So I’ll let you off this time, Seraphina. But next time, you won’t be so lucky.”
I snorted softly, but the thought of Kael being accused of using drugs still worried me. The situation was complicated. Even though the coach hadn’t pursued the matter further last night, the negative news was spreading fast. Someone had recorded the moment when the coach publicly questioned him and posted it in a Facebook group. Everyone was discussing it, and some even claimed that Kael had indeed used drugs. Proving his innocence wouldn’t be easy.
I looked at Kael seriously. “How are you going to handle this?”
“I’ll go to the hospital for a checkup and provide them with my test results,” Kael said.
“But you’re a werewolf. Your body is different from a normal human’s. If you go to the hospital, someone might notice something unusual.” Just from my observations, Kael’s body had some peculiarities. His body temperature was higher, his heart rate was faster, and his physical stamina was exceptional.
“Don’t worry. Humans won’t be able to tell we’re werewolves through medical tests. We know how to hide it,” Kael assured me, wrapping his arms around my shoulders and pulling me close. He leaned down, pressing his forehead against mine. Our eyes locked, and our breaths intertwined.
“Seraphina, I’m so happy that you care about me. It makes me feel like I’ve found a place in your heart. I’m the same-I’m deeply, madly in love with you. Your sexy body drives me wild, and I want to be with you every moment.”
His words made me blush, and I pushed him away. “I think you’d better focus on solving your problem,” I said coldly.
“Don’t worry, Seraphina. With your support, I’ll have the strength to deal with this.”
I believed in Kael, but I didn’t believe in myself. I didn’t know how to face Evelyn.
When I returned to the apartment, I saw Evelyn and Judy cuddled on the couch watching a movie. Their heads were close together, and Evelyn held a bag of chips. They laughed at a funny scene in the movie. Hearing the door open, they turned.
“Hey, Seraph, you’re back.”
“Yeah, I’m back.”
“Did you have fun with Kael last night? You should’ve seen how upset the girls were during the party.”
I went to the kitchen to pour myself a glass of water and replied, “I don’t know. I didn’t go to the party.”
“Good thing you didn’t. Vivienne looked so angry last night. Serves her right-I always knew Kael wouldn’t have any feelings for her.”
Evelyn walked over with the bag of chips and handed it to me. I grabbed a piece and ate it. The crispy, flavorful chips soothed my stomach.
“I think Kael has good taste,” Judy suddenly chimed in, her eyes lingering on my dress.
I wasn’t sure if she meant the dress or Kael’s taste in women-or both.
“Yeah, this dress is the latest from CHANEL. I saw it in a magazine! Kael actually bought this for you? Seraph, if you’re dating him, you won’t need to work part-time anymore.”
“No, I think I’ll still need to work,” I said. “And I’m not going to be with him.”
“Why?” Evelyn asked, confused.
“We’re just from different worlds,” I replied vaguely, not knowing how to explain. Humans and werewolves were fundamentally different. My relationship with Kael was private, and I wouldn’t make it public.
“Is it because he’s rich, and you feel like you don’t deserve him?” Evelyn asked, surprised.
“That’s part of it though.”
“Seraph, you don’t have to feel that way. If he likes you, it means you’re worth it!”
“But we’re not from the same world. How long can this kind of affection last? Eventually, when we get to know each other better, I’ll find out he likes golf and attends high-profile meetings, while I’m just washing dishes and doing odd jobs. Do you think we’ll stay together?”
I smiled and glanced at the clock. “Look, I need to have lunch. I have to go to the Eagle Club for my part-time job this afternoon.”
