Familiar

“What brought you here? Let me have some peace. Didn’t I tell you last time that I am now too old to help? Even when I helped before, my powers are still recovering, so find someone else,” Lima softly sighed, seeing three familiar faces.
It’s not like she doesn’t want to help, but her old bones can’t assist at all. Even though Priya is a royal heir, that doesn’t mean she will put her life at stake. She is here due to a treaty, or else why would a witch live among werewolves?
When the attack happened on this pack, she got sent here because Priya’s mother had some witch powers, so she was considered part of the witch side too. She helped them when they needed it, so as Lima came here to help the warriors and to heal others, she had to stay due to the circumstances, and how the pack needed her powers for healing and recovery.
Now, she did help by telling about the curse and curing Priya a bit. That doesn’t mean she will keep doing it; she hates sticking her nose into business that isn’t related to her.
“Are you really going to keep us standing like this, Lima?” Maya asked, rolling her eyes, though she didn’t know much about her since she left the pack when Lima came here.
That doesn’t mean she can’t judge her by meeting her twice.
“Yes. I would love to keep you all outside, not to mention the hate I feel when someone tries to come into my personal space,” Lima opened her door, spitting the words without giving a shit.
She always loves being straightforward, without any control over her tongue or words. The people and their audacity deserve it all.
“Thanks for letting us in,” Jackson said in a sarcastic tone as he entered inside with Priyank and Maya.
“How can I let my unwanted guests stand out? That would be a shame on my courtesy.”
Priyank tries to hold his laughter as he sits, though he should be angry due to the disrespect he never had to bear before. But this seems way more funny than the insult, the faces Maya and Jackson make making this whole situation bearable too.
Priya’s words and her stress are still revolving in his head, so now he is feeling a bit better.
“So, what do you need my help with now?” Lima questioned, getting directly to the point.
“I found a key while running on the training grounds,” Priyank started.
“So why do you need me for that? Don’t you know that when something is not yours, touching it can be quite dumb?”
Priyank ignored her taunt. He may be ill-tempered, even in the mafia, but he cannot forget that he is a billionaire, and that clearly teaches how to conquer things like this.
His lips tilted upward in a smile. “I know, but when things propose themselves in front of us, how can we ignore the opportunity?” he completed his words with patience.
“Lima, we know this is not your job to help us, and you are not happy with our presence, but…” Maya fisted her hands together. “If this is not too necessary, we wouldn’t be disturbing you.”
Lima just looked at Maya. “Tell me how you got this key and exactly what you need my help with?”
Maya patiently told her everything, from the attack to how they brought Priya and Priyank back, then the vanished building and key details.
Lima was hearing everything with unreadable expressions. “How can there be a magical building in the pack? This is very unusual. Show me the key, then only I can tell you something.” Before, she was not interested in anything, but now, hearing exactly what is happening, she is way curious.
“Here,” Priyank pulled the key out of his pocket and put it forward. Lima took the key from his hands and scanned it.
Lima’s eyes narrowed suspiciously as she observed the key, which had a very antique design and did not give off any plain vibes.
She rubbed her weathered fingers over the intricate carvings. “This is no ordinary key,” she muttered, half to herself. “The magic woven into this metal is ancient, far older.”
“Oh.” Priyank nodded, trying to grab her words.
She lifted her gaze to the three visitors, frowning deeply. “Where did you say you found this again?”
Priyank leaned forward. “On the training grounds, near the suspicious building.”
Lima shook her head slowly. “That can’t be right. How did a key like this even exist here? It’s beyond my understanding.”
“That’s why we are here, Lima. This key is very suspicious, and it’s hard to understand its origin,” Maya explained.
“I don’t think I can help much in this matter. To find the whereabouts of this key, a lot of power needs to be used, and I don’t have that level of ability,” Lima sighed, as the key felt heavy in her palms.
“Please do something, we really need your help, Lima,” Maya desperately requested.
Lima pinched the bridge of her nose, feeling the weight of her years acutely. “You never make things easy, do you?” She shot them a wry look. “Very well, let’s consider our options.”
“Yes, please.” Maya looked at her with expectations.
She rose stiffly from her seat and began pacing the small room, the key clutched tightly in her gnarled fist. “You say it was found near that mysterious building that appeared and vanished?” At his nod, she snorted.
Jackson glared toward Lima. “How many times are you going to ask the same thing? We already told you how he found it and how that building vanished. You’re just rubbing this topic in and stretching it out unnecessarily. This is bullshit.”
He couldn’t contain his anger any longer. He had already borne enough from her. Her being a witch was already a shitty feeling, and now she was going overboard, making it impossible for him to hold back the anger that had been brewing since he entered, due to her disrespectful behaviour.
“This behaviour won’t get you anywhere. You’re old enough to judge things with patience, yet you’re still behaving like this. If you keep behaving this way, then you should think about who is here for whose help. It’s dumb to overreact.”
