Book:Ruthless Mafia's Innocent Mate Published:2025-3-2

“Maya, do you think it will be alright to teach her how to fight when she doesn’t even have the wolf, and she’s certainly just a human? Won’t it be a bit more complex?” Elk asked as he entered the room where Maya was getting ready for today’s lesson.
“I don’t think it’s the best thing, but whatever the case, there’s no way she’s safe. Since she’s not safe, I don’t think we should push her training any further. The attack was fatal; didn’t you see the extent of Priyank’s injuries?” Maya looked into Elk’s eyes and replied with determination.
“True, but I am scared for all four of them. Even if Priyank was in the Mafia, that doesn’t mean he can bear the training of our people. Priya, Levi, and Rish are beyond prepared to handle it,” Elk reasoned.
Maya took a deep breath, knowing Elk was right. Although Levi and Rish had spent their whole lives with her, she had never taught them how to fight, maybe just a little self-defence, but they had never undergone real training.
Thinking about it, she regretted it a bit because she had so many years, and yet she was still busy grieving rather than putting her energy in the right place.
Teaching them would have been a great option, but she had never thought about it as her whole focus was on finding Priya, dealing with the pain she was experiencing due to being separated from her mate Elk, and coping with the deaths of her sister and brother-in-law. Everything was too much.
Not even once had it crossed her mind to think about how she could teach Levi and Rish so that they could be prepared for the future whenever they got their wolf, which would lead to their current weakness.
“What are you thinking about, Maya?”
Maya snapped back from her thoughts as she heard Elk’s voice.
“I’m just thinking about your words. Somehow, you’re right, but again, it’s not too late. It may be difficult or nearly impossible, but things can still start slowly. I won’t be starting with anything too extreme,” Maya mentioned.
This was the right thing she could do, and it had been so long since she had used her powers or trained herself, so it would take time for her to adjust too – so it didn’t sound or look that bad.
“You think so?” Elk questioned.
Maya looked at Elk, determination etched on her face. “We’ll start with the basics and gradually build up their skills. It’s crucial that they learn to defend themselves, especially now that they’re involved in this dangerous situation.”
Elk nodded, understanding Maya’s perspective. “I agree. We can’t afford to leave them vulnerable. But we must be careful not to push them too hard. They’re still young and inexperienced.”
“I know,” Maya replied.
“Then I think it’s decided, hopefully this goes better.”
She paused for a moment, considering their next steps. “Let’s start with Priya. She’s the most vulnerable right now, and we need to ensure her safety.”
“I also think that Priya needs to be trained more, as she is the one who is in real danger, not the others. She is of royal blood, so clearly, she’s the one who will face the toughest challenges,” Elk scoffed, his voice dripping with concern.
“That’s right. Levi, Rish, and Priyank may face danger due to protecting her, but that doesn’t mean they will face the real danger. Whoever carried out the attack wants to get their hands on Priya. Without a doubt, her life is in danger, and now I’m scared that if Lucas, as an Alpha, gets to know this, he will resort to scheming things to save his position too.”
“Indeed, this is what he will do,” Jackson nod his head.
Maya’s brows furrowed as she contemplated the potential consequences of Lucas discovering Priya’s true identity. “If Lucas finds out about Priya’s royal lineage, he might see her as a threat to his power. We can’t let him manipulate the situation to his advantage.”
Elk nodded gravely. “We need to keep this information closely guarded. The fewer people who know about Priya’s heritage, the better. We can’t risk Lucas or anyone else trying to exploit her for their own gain.”
“Agreed,” Maya said, her voice filled with determination. “We’ll focus on training Priya to defend herself and keep her true identity hidden for as long as possible. In the meantime, we’ll also keep a close eye on Lucas and his actions.”
“What about Levi, Rish, and Priyank?” Elk asked, concern evident in his tone. “They’re already involved in this, and they’ll likely face more dangers as they continue to protect Priya.”
Maya sighed, the weight of responsibility heavy on her shoulders. “We’ll have to train them as well.”
Elk placed a comforting hand on Maya’s shoulder. “We’ll do this together, Maya. We’ll train them, protect them, and guide them through these difficult times. They’re strong, and with our help, they’ll be ready to face whatever comes their way.”
Maya looked at Elk, gratitude shining in her eyes. “Thank you, Elk.”
“You’re welcome, but what concerns me most is how the attackers got to know about Priya’s lineage. Only you, me, Levi, Rish, Priyank, and Jackson knew about Priya’s identity; nobody else knew it. So how did someone already discover it and decide to attack her?” Elk’s forehead wrinkled with worry.
“Don’t forget that even Lima, that old witch in our pack, knew about it. She helped Priya regain consciousness and told us about the curse and spell cast on Priya when we were going to meet Lucas,” Maya mentioned.
Elk’s expression turned more serious. “So you have doubts about her?”
“Maybe, but I can’t say it with complete certainty,” Maya replied, her voice tinged with uncertainty.
Elk leaned back, his mind racing with possibilities. “If Lima is involved, it could explain how the attackers knew about Priya’s lineage. But why would she betray us like this?”
Maya shook her head, frustration evident in her voice. “I don’t know, Elk. Lima has been a part of our pack for so long, and she’s always been a trusted member. It’s hard to believe she would turn against us.”
“We can’t rule out the possibility, though,” Elk said, his tone grave. “If Lima is working with the enemy, she could be feeding them information about our plans and Priya’s whereabouts. We need to be cautious around her from now on.”
