“Mom, how are we going to find out who is behind this attack on Priyank, and how the hell did they even get to know about Priya?” Levi sighed, feeling agitated with whatever was going on.
Yesterday, when she was informed that she had to come here again, just a few hours after dropping off Priya and Priyank, she was skeptical about it.
But then again, when she figured out about the attack, she was blown away, and even more shocked about how Priyank had fought it off.
“I am trying to think too, like who the hell it could be, but nothing is getting processed in my head. I am shocked too,” Maya answered, massaging her head.
She had thought about so many things, so much stuff, but there was nothing indicating her suspicion of an attack, even though she thought about Lucas.
He doesn’t know about Priya’s royal blood or her being the real heir to the Alpha seat he is sitting on.
And if he wanted to attack anyone, it should be Maya, because according to him, she is blood-related to her late queen sister, which clearly makes her a potential threat to him.
So Priya is already off the table. If Maya has to think it all through, then how come someone sent people to execute Priya? It is not making sense to her overall.
“Think it through, Mom. Who can figure it out? When Priya met Lucas, she had the spell on by Lima, so it’s impossible to smell her. And due to the curse, her scent is already so faint that nearly no one can figure it out, even without the spell,” Rish reasoned.
Even though he and Levi both have no wolves yet, as they are both waiting, they can’t smell Priya’s scent, which is understandable. But even Jackson can’t smell it, even though he is the ex-Beta, and their father, Elk, can’t even smell it, despite being a healer.
So it makes no sense that Priya got discovered when she was cursed, and without bleeding, it’s impossible to catch her scent.
“I know, Rish, but the thing is, she meets limited people. Only a few people know about her being the royal heir, so I am still shocked about how someone figured or discovered it.”
“We can think about this another time. For now, the issue is where we are going to take Priya and Priyank. It was a miracle that Priyank saved Priya and bore so many injuries, but this is not going to happen every other time. So we have to think carefully about this, and there’s no way this safe house is safe at all,” Jackson mentioned, and Elk nodded his head in agreement.
Maya took a deep breath, trying to gather her thoughts. “You’re right, Jackson. We need to find a new safe place for Priya and Priyank. Somewhere no one would even think to look.”
Levi chimed in, “What about the old cabin in the woods? The one we used to use to live in?”
Rish nodded, “That could work. It’s remote, and hardly anyone knows about it except for our family.”
“That’s true too. They can live there, but this safe house was supposed to be safer than that cabin ever could be. If anyone can find her here, they can find her anywhere else,” Maya explained, feeling uneasy about their lack of choices.
“Maya, I think it’s better if she lives with us in the pack. It’s the safest place. We can protect her there, and no one can easily cross our territory to attack her and Priyank,” Elk suggested.
Maya nodded slowly, considering her husband’s words. He was right; with everyone around, it would be much safer.
“You’re right, Elk. The pack territory is the safest place for them. We have more eyes and ears there, and it would be much harder for anyone to launch an attack,” Maya agreed, feeling a glimmer of hope.
Levi, however, looked unsure. “But Mom, wouldn’t bringing them to the pack draw more attention? If someone is already suspicious, they might figure out why we’re protecting them.”
Rish countered, “But think about it, Levi. If they’re with the pack, we can keep a closer eye on them. Plus, we have the strength of the entire pack to protect them.”
Jackson added, “And if anyone does try anything, they’ll have to go through all of us first.”
Maya stood up, her decision made. “It’s settled then. We’ll bring Priya and Priyank to live with the pack.”
Elk smiled, proud of his wife’s leadership. “I’ll help you, Maya.”
As the family prepared to move Priya and Priyank to the pack territory, they knew it wouldn’t be easy. They would have to be vigilant and watch for any signs of danger.
In the next room, Priyank held Priya close, whispering words of comfort. “We’ll be okay, Priya. I’ll always be by your side.”
Priya looked up at him, tears in her eyes. “I’m just scared, Priyank. I don’t want anyone else to get hurt because of me.”
Priyank kissed her forehead gently. “No one will get hurt, Priya.”
“You got hurt because of me. How can I trust that no one else will get hurt when it already happened?” Priya spoke, feeling a heavy lump in her throat.
Priyank looked at her, his eyes filled with determination. “It was bound to happen, Priya. It’s not your mistake. And don’t worry, I’ll keep my eyes on Elk. If you have doubts about him, then there’s no way I will leave it unchecked.”
Priya shook her head, tears streaming down her face. “But what if he’s not the only one? What if there are others in the pack who want to harm us?”
Priyank pulled her closer, his voice steady. “Then they all have to die.”
Priya buried her face in Priyank’s chest, her voice muffled. “I’m just so tired of running, Priyank. I want to feel safe again.”
She didn’t know when she would get her old life back. She was fed up with everything; her life was at a point where she didn’t even know what would happen next. She felt that way constantly, and now she couldn’t trust anyone. No matter how hard she tried, she kept doubting everyone.
