Amara’s POV

It has been two weeks since Dimitri locked me in the bedroom. Lucia and Liam often come into the bedroom to hangout, or to bring me drinks, food, or snacks. They even come and get Sadie so she can still play outside in her sandbox.
She loves spending time with them, and I don’t know how she is going to response when we leave. I sometimes wonder if I am making the right choice with her. I want to be a good mother and a good parent for Sadie.
I just don’t want her to be mixed up in Dimitri’s criminal activity, or grow up thinking that hurting people is okay. I also don’t want her to grow up without a father figure. Despite Dimitri’s crazy and insane side. He has been a great father toward Sadie, and will do anything for her.
I know he loves her, but I just can’t have her around this.
As for Mary I haven’t spoken to her at all. She really hurt my feeling by doing what Dimitri tells her.
Hearing the lock click catched my attention. I pause my movie and watch as Dimitri enters the room. I watch him shut the door behind, before hearing the lock click again.
” How long do you plan to keep me locked in this room?” I question him.
” Until you get the idea of leaving out of that pretty little head.” Dimitri say, as he takes his jacket off and hangs it on the coat rack.
” You locking me in this room, is all the proof I need to know that I made the right decision in leaving with Sadie.” I tell him.
I hear him let out a soft chuckle, ” You are making a wrong decision, but since you are so determined. Why don’t we settle this whole thing with a game. That way you will stop moping around, and I don’t have to keep you locked inside our bedroom.” He say with a smile on his face.
Something seem off about this conversation. Almost like he has had a lot of time to think about a plan.
” What kind of game is it?” I question him, as I cross my arms across my chest.
” It is a simple game. All you have to do is escape without me catching you.” He says, as he opens up the mini fridge. I watch him pull out a bottle of beer. He pops it open before taking a swig of it.
” Fine, what time are we playing this game?” I question him with a raise brow.
I know every each of this cabin, and I know which direction the highway is. So, this will be a piece of cake.
” No, We aren’t playing the game here. There are too many trees and cliffs. Not to mention we are a little close to the highway. It will be best to play this game in town.” I watch him put the beer bottle back to his mouth. He chugs it before tossing the empty bottle into the trash can.
” What are you talking about in town? What about Daniel and his goons?” I question him.
How can we possibly play this game in town? He sold the mansion. Which is why we have been living in this cabin.
” I found a new place for us to move into. So, we don’t have to stay in this cabin anymore. As for Daniel and his dumb friends. They aren’t going to be able to get close to us. So, you don’t have to worry. Unless your scared and just want to give me the win.” He says with a cocky smirk.
I roll my eyes, ” No! I am not scared. I’m ready to play your stupid escape game. So, if we aren’t playing it here. Where are we going to play your game at?” I question him.
” I bought the Huntson hotel. That is where we will be playing our escape game.” He says walking over to the closet. I watch him open the closet door, and pull out a black bag. He tosses it onto the bed infront of me, ” You can pack up a few things. I will have my men pack up the rest later.” He adds.
The Huntson hotel is an expensive hotel. How was he able to buy it? Not to mention the hotel is in the center of town! So, how does he figure that it will keep Daniel out?
” You say that like I am still going to be living with you. Also how did you get the money to buy a hotel that expensive? Not to mention the hotel is in the center of town. I don’t see how you are going to keep Daniel and his goons out.” I say standing to my feet.
” You will be living with me still. I can guarantee it.” He says before sitting on the bed next to my bag. ” Also, I am not poor Amara. I could buy a whole country if I wanted too.” He says, as he pulls his cellphone out of his pants pocket.
Okay, something is definitely off about this. I think this game is just him trying to prove to me that there is no escaping. Which would explain why he seems to be very happy about this situation.
” What about Sadie? Is she going to be allowed to play?” I question him. Grabbing a few of mine and Sadie clothes out of the dresser. I walk back over to the bed, and place our clothes inside the bag.
” No, she will be fine watching cartoons with Liam and Mary.” He says not looking up from his phone.
Mary and Liam have been spending a lot of time together. Liam talks about her nonstop sometimes. He seems to be really happy with her.
” So, are they a couple now or something?” I question him.
” I wouldn’t know. That is something you would have ask them.” Dimitri says with a yawn.
I roll my eyes, ” Right.”
Last thing I want to do is talk to Mary. I been meaning to ask Liam, but I just didn’t know how to ask him about it. I don’t hate Mary or wish her any harm. I am just not happy with her at this time.
She broke my trust and drugged me.
Finishing up with packing I look over at Dimitri who was scrolling through his phone. ” So, when do we leave?” I question him.
” When the cars arrive. Which should be any second.” I watch Dimitri get to his feet, and walk over to the coat rack. He grabs his jacket, and puts it back on.
Hearing the lock click, I look over too see Lucia coming in with Sadie in his arms.
” Mama!” Sadie says happily with a giggle.
” Hey, baby!” I say cheerfully, before taking her out of Lucia arms. ” Did you have fun?” I ask her.
” Ya!” She says happily.
” She had a lot of fun in the sandbox.” Lucia tells me with a soft smile.
That is good.
I am happy to hear that she can still have a normal routine.
Giving Sadie a kiss on the forehead. I watch her lean out of my arms, and hold her little arms out towards Dimitri.
” Dada!” She says in a small whine, as she waves her arms around.
” I know.” Dimitri say, as he shoves his phone into his jacket pocket, before taking Sadie out of my arms.
Sadie giggles and wraps her little arms around his neck happily. ” Dada!” She says hugging him.
Dimitri chuckles, ” I love you too.” He says giving Sadie a kiss on the cheek.
Hearing a knock on the doorframe. I turn around too see Liam poking his head into the bedroom. ” The vehicles are here.” Liam says before giving me a pity look.
Yes, this is definitely Dimitri’s way of proving a point. That look on Liam’s face tells me everything I need to know. Which means Dimitri most likely has traps setup all throughout that hotel. No wonder Dimitri is so excited to play this game
There isn’t going to be away for me to escape.
” Can we get going.” I ask Dimitri impatiently.
He was busy smothering Sadie with kisses all over her face. Her soft little giggles were filling the room.
Watching her was making my heart break. She really does love him.
I watch her place her tiny hands on his face, as she continues to giggle happily. ” Alright, let’s go check out our new home.” He tells her, as he gives her one more kiss on the cheek.
Feeling a hand firmly grab ahold of my upper arm. I look beside me to see that it is Lucia.
Right, they don’t want me taking off. So, he is going to walk me outside.
