JENNA
The man that stood in the living room had long dark hair that was tied in a ponytail. He had a scar that ran across his left eyebrow and chin.
He stood in the living room, looking up at the ceiling, probably wondering how builders had done those designs up there, how they had made a ceiling so high.
“Good evening” I greeted, trying to get his attention.
His head snapped to me and he froze, his lips were slowly parted and the amazed look he had when he was surveying the living room was still on his face as he stared at me.
It was not the first time someone froze just staring at me and everytime it happened I felt too seen and naked.
“You must be the security guard, would you like to have something to drink?”
He was in no way ugly. He had features that were highly appealing, like his intense brown eyes and his strong jaw.
“Water” he simply said.
I nodded and went to get a glass of water for him.
When I turned, Regalia was sitting on the couch talking to the man. He had a look of impatience as he talked back to her.
“Here” I said stretching the glass cup to him. He looked up at me and the expression on his face whipped back to that of adoration.
“Thanks” he said and he drank.
Regalia looked between the both of us.
“Jenna, you’re a model, right?” She asked.
I didn’t even know if I was qualified to call myself a model anymore.
“I am”
“I saw your Instagram, nice page, you’ve modelled for such big brands” she said.
I didn’t see a destination in our discussion.
“I have”
“Do you have an agent?” She asked me.
“Nope”
“Then how do you get all those gigs?”
“Well, just connection. Your dad’s names wonders” I told her with a smile but for a reason, her face turned sour.
“How come you got to be the model while I… The legitimate daughter had to rot in a hellhole”
I didn’t know where she was from, her accent was just like Jeandre and yet I couldn’t point a finger on it. I need to ask questions.
“I’m sorry, I don’t know what you’re talking about” I told her.
“Whatever” she mumbled under her breath.
I turned to the security guard and he was staring at me without blinking. I shot him a nod, hoping that Christian would get home soon we’d get rid of him.
I went to my room and found my phone vibrating, before I could run to it, the call ended.
I looked at the screen and saw that it was Blue.
I face timed her right back.
“Jenn!” She squealed.
“Blue!” She was still in runway make up, “How is Italy?” I asked her.
“Oh my gosh, where are you. It feels amazing. Why aren’t you here”
I tried to surpress the sadness but it had me in a choke hold.
“You’ve been so busy, haven’t you?” I asked her.
“I haven’t eaten anything since last night, my hands are shaking as we speak, I’m just entering my hotel room and I saw your missed calls from yesterday ”
“I just wanted to know how you’re doing. I heard you’re going to Tokyo soon”
“Why aren’t you here, we had your name on our list, I was looking forward to having my bestie with me”
“I’ll come next year, take care. I’ve got to go now”
Before she could say anything, I ended the call and buried my face in my pillow. I cried as quietly as I could manage.
I heard a knock on the door and I looked up, the security guard was standing there. There was a glint in his eyes that I didn’t like.
“Did Christian say you could come up here, I think your jurisdiction ends in the staircase” I said sitting up.
“I’m not the guard” he said pulling out something from his pocket.
Alarma bells went off in my head.
“This joke is not funny” I said trying to climb off the bed, the last was just a few feets away.
“No, sweetheart” he said, his eyes crawled over my body and he took a step forward. “Your mother sent me to teach you some sweet lessons, you have her to thank”
He pointed a gun at me, my mouth went dry and my thoughts instantly fell on my Baby.
“Please.. Ple-please, don’t shoot”
I’m pregnant, I have to protect my child…
“The walk over to me, nice and slow” he whispered.
I was tempted to find cover, if I run fast enough, would I make it to the bathroom or would I get shot in my back.
My mother… She did this?
I swallowed and it felt as if I was forcing contained water over my sore throat. I walked with the man and he pushed the muzzle of the gun in my back, leading me down the hallway, down the stairs and out of the house.
It was so easy. No one had seen us, the house was too big, everyone was occupied their own space. He led me to the woods.
Ahead, I could see a pale white car in the distance.
“Don’t do this” I said meeting his eyes.
There were emotions in his eyes and more of them were mercy or pity…. None gave me hope.
“Keep on walking and shut that pretty mouth of yours”
“Can you at least, reconsider? Does she owe you, I could pay you in cash instead of this? Please can you just let me go?” I asked as we neared the white car.
He laughed.
“The moment I laid my eyes on you, I knew that there would be nothing that would stop me from claiming you”
He leaned in and tried to kiss me, I jerked my face away and he laughed.
We were merely feets away from the car, I felt foolish.
I could have sounded an alarm back at the house, but there were chances of him not just hurting me but
