Xavier’s POV
I really needed to go to the hospital as she says, it kept getting worse, dizziness, anger when the babies are crying a lot, feeding them is absolute problem, I felt very depressed.
I was really happy to be going home, I cut the trip short, I really overdid myself, what was supposed to be a month and two weeks I cut down to two and half weeks, I got a disturbing message from the cook and the maid, both different views but same thing, the cook said Jessica is having a meltdown, (a postpartum depression or whatever she called it), the maid is saying she is acting very neglectful towards the kids, the cook is a mother so she would understand than the maid.
When I arrived, I heard the girl crying, I went upstairs to see Jessica beside crying too but staring out into space, she looked haggard and pale, she looked sick, how can she get like this under a few days I left what happened, I took the baby and started consoling her, Jessica didn’t stir, I went to her and hugged her and that wake her up,
“Xav, you are back?”
“Yes, baby am back, what’s wrong with you?”
“Nothing, am just tired”
“Babe, it isn’t nothing, have you eaten?”
“Yes, I ate”
“What did you eat?”
“The cook cooked something I ate so I ate.”
“Why are you lying to me Jess? ”
“Do I look like an lying to you, am now a lier? Huh, is that it, I told you I am fine! Why don’t you listen to me!! You fucking left for a stupid trip, came back early just to question me!!! Do you think am sick or what!!!!”
“No baby, it’s nothing, nothing is wrong with you okay? Am wrong for saying that, it’s my fault ”
“Why are you saying it’s your fault, do I would be the bad person huh? So you be the good guy, is that it?”
I handed the girl over to the shocked maid, they were all here except the cook seems she isn’t around,
“Baby, take a deep breath and calm down okay?”
“Why are everyone here? Why are you all looking at me like am a bad mother or something? You all have been treating me like am some sort of Cinderella’s stepmother who is bad to her family”
“All of you leave, what are you doing here?”
I watched them all leave, Jessica just fell and started crying, like really shouting and wailing, I shouldn’t have gone for that trip, I should have left it and faced the consequences, she wasn’t fit even before the pregnancy, I wanted us to go to the hospital for the therapy session but I kept postponing it till it’s worse.
I held her in my arms, consoling her, her wails were deep, cutting through my heart and aching me, she took a while before she calmed down, I leas her to the bathroom, prepared a warm bath for her, out some relaxing smelling scents inside, lead her in and left her to soak in it, I didn’t talk, just kept quiet, massaging her shoulders and head, once the water became cool, I brought her out, clean her body, careful not to touch tummy where she had the operation, (it’s healed but she said it’s still sensitive when touched), I dressed her up the her most softest pyjamas and tucked her into bed.
She slept off soon calm and visibly relaxed, I waited for a little while before going downstairs, the cook must have been filled in on what happened because she was standing at the stairs end as I came down,
“How is she?”
“She is sleeping now, we will visit the hospital tomorrow for a check up ”
“I have heard about this before, it happens to mostly people who have just given birth, it’s very overwhelming and painful, she needs our support this period, ma Jessica isn’t like this”
“Yes, I know, am really at fault, I was supposed to take her to the hospital before her pregnancy, I think this tipped the lid off”
“I will in the kitchen, the children are in the nursery, now we know why they are crying like crazy, because they feel her emotions, the pains she is feeling ”
“And that’s why they cry every time she is with them, thank God they are still little ”
I went into the nursery to see them laughing at the tinkles in their room, they were all awake, I touched their cheeks each,
“Did you miss daddy, daddy is sorry for leaving mama and you three all alone, especially mama, daddy’s is sorry mama is behaving like that, she is the sweetest you know, the kindest ”
I paused starring at their confused faces and laughed, they are so adorable, these kids.
