Alicia’s POV
“Yayyyy!! Go, babyyy!!” She screamed at the top of her voice and when I looked, Logan was now winning with a shocking difference of 10 votes.
“And guess who is the Prom king?” She sang excitedly and repeatedly. “Logan is the Prom king.” She chuckled as she looked at me.
“But, who will be his Prom king?” She turned to me as she wore a smile. “Guess, you won’t be lucky because they just changed the rules, suggestions can come in and he gets to choose.” She winced.
“Come on, don’t be dramatic, Amelia. I never mentioned having interest in becoming a prom queen, so why that look?” I sighed as I got up.
“I don’t want Jessica Winterfalls or any of her girls to become the Prom queen because if they do, trust me, my gram story won’t rest for a year and my prom night will only get ruined. But imagine if you become the Prom queen, come on, I’ll be on cloud 9 throughout the party.” She scowled.
“I guess we have to patiently wait till night before we get to know who he will choose from the suggestion.” I exclaimed as I turned off my phone.
“Out of 10 girls, 5 of them are Jessica and her girls while the other 5, a mixture of the two other cliques. I hate all of them. They only happen to ruin the day for everyone and I can’t afford to have a ruined prom night party as well, I think we might not be attending.” She snapped as she got up.
“You can really get dramatic for nothing, Amelia.” I snapped.
“I better start going before I get into trouble and you better talk with Logan, he could find me a clerical work in his father’s office or maybe, I could do the laundry or even…”
“Amelia!!?” I rolled my eyes in disbelief. “Don’t tell me you plan to stop working at the restaurant?” I frowned.
“Would you expect me to continue working there? Come on, Alicia. You were the only reason I remained there and now that you are gone, life there will only be boring. Guess I might end up getting sacked because there will be no one to check my anger issues anymore because I might kick one of those arrogant and disrespectful locals’ ass.” She sighed as she wore her helmet.
She had gotten a better bicycle and this one was a beautiful pink bicycle that had some artistic drawing of butterflies on it and the wheel, like it was a wheel of many colors which added real beauty to it.
She still got two helmet, one for me and one was for her. If there was any friendship I was grateful for, it should be our friendship right from when I was just in grade 8.
We drove down to the bar as we walked in. I came along with her to also inform madam. Cassie that I would no longer be working here anymore.
I felt my stomach rumble the moment my eyes met with those her beautiful smiles. As far as you never broke any of the rules, then you were certainly good to go and there was no way you would get into any trouble with her as well.
“Good day, madam. Cassie.” We greeted in unison and she quickly responded with a lively smile too.
“Cassie?” I mumbled as I walked up to her.
She lowered her medicated glasses down a bit as she looked right into my eyes.
“I… I wanted… umm.” I stuttered as I never knew how to tell her. I brought out the handwritten resignation letter I had prepared throughout the night as I handed it over to her.
She looked at the inscription at the top of the white envelope as she frowned. “Resignation letter?” She questioned as she took off her glasses completely now.
“Are you not okay with the salary? I could increase it for you? Is everything alright? Are you planning on relocating?”
She went through different questions at a time.
“I got a new job yesterday!!” I briefly said as she went quiet for a while as she looked at the resignation letter again before raising her head to look at me.
“Oh!” She mumbled as she forced out a smile. “It’s fine then. I will still pay you for the weeks you covered for the month.” She smiled. “Hope it’s a good job you got!?” She asked.
I couldn’t mention the bureau because it wasn’t a new thing. The Bohen’s Bureau had a lot of things and they were all messy things.
“Yes. It is.” I briefly answered as I smiled.
She allowed me to work for the day and throughout that day, I did my best not to allow any customer get on Amelia’s nerves and at intervals, she kept on checking her phone for who the selected Prom queen will be.
“So… I… I really don’t get why he is taking so long to announce who his Prom queen will be. I guess a lot of girls are currently in his DM begging him to choose them.” Amelia shuddered as she chuckled softly. “But how could girls be that desperate?” She asked mockingly as she looked at me.
It was already three hours past the time and yet, he was still silent.
And finally, the upper section of the Whatsapp icon showed his name as he was typing and I could tell that over fifty girls were glued to their phone waiting for his response because I could see the excitement all over her face.
“Oops! He just stopped typing.” She chuckled softly as she raised her head and then a notification sound sent her screaming like she just won a lottery.
“Here we go, Alicia, Prom queen loading!!!” She screamed in excitement as she hugged me tightly, like she wanted to suffocate me.
Passer-by stared and few had this weird look of ‘what the f*ck is going on with these two’ and others, they had this smiley face.
“But was it something to be happy about?” I scowled.
