The third track rider was likely Isaac’s companion. She was experienced, always holding the reins tightly and following behind Callie. After half a lap, she gradually overtook Callie with ease.
Callie gradually adapted to the rhythm of the race, gaining more confidence. With a sudden whip, her horse neighed and surged forward, quickly surpassing the third rider.
The third rider stared incredulously at Callie’s back. It was clear she was a novice, but riding like this, did she have a death wish?
Callie wasn’t a professional, but she had enough courage.
Riding on the horse, she looked at the scenery of the Ellison family estate flashing by, feeling a mix of emotions.
One day, everything she had lost would return to her.
At that moment, the third rider increased her speed. She maneuvered her horse closer to Callie’s and used her experience to trip Callie’s horse with its leg. Callie’s horse stumbled and tilted sharply to the side, accelerating into a fall.
The scene caused an outcry from the spectators in the lounge.
Nelson gripped his wine glass tightly, veins bulging on his hand, his gaze darkening.
Isaac instinctively glanced at Nelson’s face, breaking into a cold sweat.
Even though Nelson and Callie were divorced, no one could predict his reaction.
Isaac opened his mouth, about to say something to ease the tension, but Nelson had set down his glass and walked out.
“Damn… I didn’t tell her to pull that stunt!” Isaac shouted. “Do I need her to win this championship? Does she really think I enjoy watching her race?”
Someone nearby clicked their tongue. “Your companion is trying too hard to get noticed.”
Meanwhile, Callie clung tightly to the reins, squeezing the horse’s belly to avoid falling off and barely managed to steady the frightened horse.
She glanced at the distant third rider, a surge of determination rising within her. She patted the horse’s head. “Revenge, okay?”
The horse had a fiery temperament and seemed to understand.
Callie whipped the horse fiercely, increasing its speed. Her adrenaline surged, and so did that of the spectators.
She was riding recklessly.
At the turn, the third rider instinctively slowed down for stability, but Callie didn’t reduce her speed at all. Instead, she whipped harder. The fierce horse galloped forward as she pressed her lips together, feeling the immense impact, her hair flying.
The third rider never expected Callie to be so daring!
“Damn-”
The fierce horse reached the finish line first. Callie held the reins, trying to calm her racing heart. She realized her hands were trembling.
She looked back to see the third rider’s face twisted in anger.
Callie wanted to laugh, but instead, she felt an overwhelming emptiness after the intense excitement.
Just then, her wrist was yanked painfully, pulling her off the horse.
“Who told you to speed up?”
Nelson’s face was dark, his grip on her wrist tight with genuine anger.
Callie hesitated for a moment.
He roared, “Are you trying to kill yourself?”
Callie snapped back to reality and shook off his hand. “Isn’t this what you wanted? I won. Let me go.”
Nelson’s frown didn’t ease, and his anger didn’t dissipate. He grabbed her waist and effortlessly lifted her back onto the horse. Enclosing her in front of him with both arms, he said, “Callie, let me show you what I really want.”
As he squeezed his legs against the horse’s belly, it took off again, which made her heart leap to her throat.
This time, with his control, the speed was fast but steady.
Callie leaned against him, eyes shut tight, feeling no sense of security.
“Nelson! You bastard! Let me down!”
