Yessica finally snapped back to reality and said, “I have a feeling that Kian might propose to me.”
“Is your feeling accurate?”
“I think so. Camille, should I say yes to him?”
“Let’s see how big the diamond on the ring is. If it looks good, then you can say yes. After all, you’ve been together for so long, and he has been very considerate towards you. You shouldn’t let another woman have such a caring man. Keep him for yourself!”
Camille had high hopes for Yessica and Kian. After all, she was the one who introduced them, so she wanted them to be happy together.
Yessica listened with a smile on her face and said lightly, “I’ll listen to you.”
“Are you really that obedient? Does Kian know that you’re like this? If you really listen to everything I say, then Kian’s life will be miserable in the future.” Camille couldn’t help but laugh.
But Yessica looked serious. “I’m being honest. Camille. I’ll listen to you. Without you, I wouldn’t be what I am today.”
“Don’t be so absolute. Everyone is an independent individual. Even if you didn’t meet me, you could have met someone else. Maybe you have a better life. If you feel that you’re doing great now, it means our meeting is destined to happen. We are both making efforts in this relationship, right?”
Camille gently reassured her, not wanting Yessica to feel indebted to her in any way. Otherwise, once Yessica and Kian got married, that kind of blind admiration might affect their relationship as a couple in one way or another.
After all, it was likely that she had a confrontation with Ayan coming up.
When that time truly came, Camille didn’t know how she would face it. For her sake, Ayan believed that it was best for her to remain unaware of everything.
But now she knew more than Ayan did, and thinking about it made her feel somewhat ironic.
After returning to the hotel, Camille went to take a shower.
Yessica said, “I want to drink Coke. I’ll buy you one as well. There’s a convenience store downstairs. I saw it when I came back earlier but hesitated. Now I’m craving it.”
Camille had no objections and just told her to go quickly and be safe. Although Yessica wasn’t a child anymore, in Camille’s eyes, she was like her younger sister.
Yessica went to buy drinks while Camille went to take a shower.
When Yessica left the room, she immediately headed towards the elevator button while dialing a number on her phone.
She hadn’t even left the elevator when the other person answered.
Yessica asked calmly, straight to the point. “Where are you?”
Her tone carried some anger, and the other person immediately sensed it but didn’t know how to respond for a moment.
Yessica snorted coldly. She walked into the convenience store and sat down before continuing, “Are you going to say anything, or should I come find you directly?”
Kian on the other end of the phone sighed helplessly and whispered, “I’m staying at the same hotel as you, just in a different section.”
“Well then, now you should know where I am, right? Come see me!”
After saying that, she hung up.
She looked very unpleasant. She rarely got angry. Even if she occasionally got upset with Kian for not being romantic enough, she would only pout. But at this moment, her face darkened.
Before long, Kian appeared in front of her.
Their eyes met. She looked at him coldly with obvious anger in her eyes as if she was about to explode any moment.
Kian felt a bit scared and lowered his head before walking up to her quietly and whispered, “Don’t get mad, okay? I’m just doing my job.”
Yessica didn’t want to talk to him. She stood up and grabbed the drinks. Kian followed her out of the convenience store.
Kian grabbed her wrist and stopped her.
She said indifferently, “Let go of me, or I will scream!”
Kian paused for a moment but didn’t let go of her. Instead, he said softly, “Give me two minutes to explain everything properly.”
Yessica didn’t speak but also didn’t refuse.
Kian held her hand and led her to a corner that was inconspicuous and unlikely to be noticed.
He pressed Yessica onto a chair and then spoke softly, “I didn’t intend to hide this from you. As you know, being Mr. Simpson’s secretary involves handling many things that can’t be openly discussed-of course not illegal things. My trip to Flento City this time is to handle some matters related to the Walker family. Since Preston is also in Flento City, Mr. Simpson wasn’t at ease, so he arranged for me to come. He was also concerned that Mrs. Simpson might overthink things, which is why it wasn’t made public.”
Yessica had an impassive face. She naturally stood on Camille’s side and said, “If what Mr. Simpson did wasn’t excessive, Camille wouldn’t think too much about it. Mr. Simpson’s actions simply show that he doesn’t trust Camille. Does he think that Camille came to Flento City to meet Preston?”
Yessica asked with a look of displeasure.
Kian felt a headache coming on. They rarely argued with each other. Even when they did argue, it was usually because he didn’t understand her thoughts-not for any other reason.
Kian sighed silently before explaining, “Mr. Simpson doesn’t mean that at all. As you know, Preston is cunning. Mr. Simpson is worried that he might do something to Mrs. Simpson once he knows Mrs. Simpson is in Flento City. That’s why he arranged for me to come.”
“Hmph! I don’t believe you! You’re Ayan’s man, after all! You must be taking his side! In your eyes, there’s only your boss. What am I to you?” Yessica retorted.
“If I didn’t care about your feelings at all, I could just deny everything. But I don’t want to upset you. That’s why I’m honest with you. Please don’t get mad at me. Mr. Simpson is my boss indeed, but you are my darling!”
Hearing him call her “darling”, Yessica blushed.
She snorted lightly, “Who is your darling? Hump!”
Kian wasn’t good at sweet talk but occasionally saying something like this would make Yessica unable to resist him-this was also one of the main reasons they were together.
Yessica calmed down after being coaxed but still asked uneasily, “Mr. Simpson didn’t send you to keep an eye on Camille, did he? You can’t lie to me! Camille has been really good to me. We can’t betray her!”
