“Seraph, I was wrong. I’ll do anything if you’ll just come back to me. I’m begging you!” Lucian pleaded, his face etched with pain.
I noticed he had grown much thinner lately, his eyes no longer holding the pride they once did. Instead, they seemed shattered.
But I wouldn’t forgive him just because he looked pitiful.
Everyone has to face the consequences of their actions, and Lucian was no exception.
“It’s impossible, Lucian. From the moment you betrayed our relationship, there was no going back.”
“But-”
“Stop that. Don’t make whatever little good feelings I have left for you disappear completely,” I said coldly.
Truthfully, thinking about our past relationship was painful for me too.
But no matter how painful it was, it would eventually pass.
“No, no, no, Seraph! I won’t accept this!”
Lucian blocked my path, and I was tempted to kick him away.
Just then, Kael’s voice cut through the tension. “What’s going on here?”
I turned to Kael, feeling a pang of nervousness. I worried he might reveal our secrets.
I didn’t want to become the target of every girl in school.
Seeing Kael, Lucian seemed to calm down slightly. “Kael, I… I was just talking to my girlfriend-”
“Is this your girlfriend?” Kael’s lips curled into a smile.
But I could tell there was no warmth in it-it was a cold, mocking smile.
“Yes-”
“No, we broke up,” I said, gripping my broom tightly before quickly walking away.
At that moment, I wanted nothing more than to run as far as possible from this place.
But I knew Lucian wouldn’t let me go so easily. He’d follow me.
However, Kael’s voice rang out from behind me. “Lucian, come train with me. You can be my sparring partner today.”
I breathed a sigh of relief.
I knew Lucian wouldn’t dare defy Kael.
For the first time, I felt genuinely grateful to Kael.
Work that day was the same as usual, but since I’d gotten more efficient at cleaning, I finished quickly.
After Rebecca inspected my work, she let me leave.
On my way home, I wasn’t in the best mood, so I stopped by Haagen-Dazs for an ice cream.
As I walked and ate, the sweet flavor spread through my mouth, lifting my spirits a little.
I hated how Lucian kept clinging to me.
It made me sick.
I had been heartbroken over him, but now his persistence only annoyed me.
Still, working part-time at the Eagle Club meant I couldn’t avoid him entirely.
When I got home, the apartment was empty. Evelyn wasn’t there.
For some reason, I felt a wave of tension.
My heart raced, and a faint ringing filled my ears.
I scanned the room. No one was there.
My mind drifted to the red-eyed werewolf. Could it be him?
Had he returned?
My hand slipped into my pocket, gripping the gun.
If he showed up, I wouldn’t hesitate to shoot.
I wanted him to know I wasn’t someone to be trifled with.
But there was no sign of anything suspicious in the living room.
My gaze fell on my closed bedroom door. Was someone in there?
I approached the door cautiously, my heart pounding so hard it felt like it might leap out of my throat.
The sensation was overwhelming.
Stay calm, Seraphina, I told myself.
I had a weapon. I didn’t need to be afraid.
With that thought, I calmed down a little. Maybe it was just my imagination.
I wasn’t truly scared, but my unstable emotions were making me paranoid.
When I reached the door, I kicked it open.
What I saw inside left me stunned.
How… how could it be him?
It was Kael!
All my tension and fear vanished in an instant.
My muscles relaxed completely.
“What are you doing here?” I couldn’t help but ask.
It was unbelievable.
I lived on such a high floor. How had Kael gotten in?
I glanced at the window. It was open, and the wind was blowing the curtains, making them flutter.
So, had Kael climbed in?
From this height?
Didn’t he fear falling?
I was utterly baffled.
But before I could process it, Kael was already walking toward me.
He took the gun from my hand and placed it on the table.
“Seraphina, I didn’t know you had a gun. Impressive,” he said with a low chuckle, pulling me into his arms.
I tried to resist, but it was futile.
He kissed me, pressing me against the wall, his lips fierce and demanding.
For some reason, I could feel the anger radiating from him, conveyed through his kiss.
It was the first time I’d experienced such an urgent, almost punishing kiss from him.
Pinned against the wall, I had no choice but to endure everything.
It was like a storm, relentless and overwhelming and there was completely nothing I could do to stop it.
As he kissed me, his hands roamed my body, stripping off my clothes.
The cold air made me shiver, but soon, Kael’s kisses warmed me up again.
My body grew soft, melting under his touch.
If not for Kael holding me, I might have collapsed.
God, Kael always knew how to stir something deep within me, making me surrender completely.
His kisses trailed down my body, igniting a fire I couldn’t control.
I clung to his arms, gasping for breath.
My mind went blank, unable to think clearly.
Kael stripped away the rest of my clothes, his hands exploring every inch of me.
“Seraphina, you want this too, don’t you?” Kael suddenly stopped, his voice low.
Tears of desire welled up in my eyes. His sudden pause left me feeling empty.
“Don’t stop, Kael. Please.”
“When did you get together with Lucian?” Kael asked abruptly.
His words were like a bucket of cold water, snapping me back to reality.
