Kael
I admit, every time I interacted with Seraphina, my desire to possess her grew more intense, more uncontrollable. Shadow roared incessantly in my mind.
“I need her. I need this woman. Her scent is intoxicating,” he screamed, his voice wild and desperate.
“But she’s just a human girl,” I argued.
“So what, Kael? I sense something in her that drives me mad. I must have her.”
I felt like both my wolf and I were losing our minds over Seraphina. Yet, she still refused to accept me. She was stubborn, far more so than any other girl I’d encountered. If it were anyone else, I could’ve easily won them over. But Seraphina seemed to have a deep-seated distrust of men, likely because of her past relationship.
She didn’t believe me. She thought I was just another playboy, someone who would toy with her emotions. How could I convince her that, to me, she was different from all the others? My wolf had never been this obsessed before, not even with other werewolf girls.
When I stepped out of the locker room, Seraphina was already gone. I knew she was still in the club-I could smell her lingering scent. But soon, another, stronger odor caught my attention.
As I passed the trophy room, a strange, overpowering smell stopped me in my tracks.
“There’s a wolf’s scent here,” Shadow said. “Who is it?”
“It is, but it’s not one I recognize.” Was there another werewolf here?
In an instant, my senses heightened. Werewolves are extremely sensitive to scents, and we can easily distinguish our own kind. But this scent was unfamiliar. Could it be a werewolf from another pack? Had they come to the Eagle Club?
Frowning, I stepped inside to investigate. Aside from the lingering smell, there was nothing unusual. As I left the room, I nearly collided with Rebecca.
She jumped back, clutching her chest. “Oh, Kael, it’s you. You scared me!”
“Did you notice anything unusual in the trophy room?” I asked.
This area was usually deserted, maintained only by the cleaning staff. Rebecca, as the head of the maintenance department, would know if something was amiss.
“Unusual? No, everything seemed normal. Oh, but Seraphina was cleaning here earlier. She claimed she saw a monster. I’m starting to think she might be unstable. I’m considering whether she should pass her probation period.”
“You have to keep Seraphina,” I snapped, my voice rising. “If she doesn’t stay, you’ll regret it.”
“Kael!” Rebecca recoiled, clearly startled by my outburst.
I quickly realized how harsh I’d been. I’d never treated anyone around me so poorly. “I’m sorry, Rebecca. Seraphina is a friend of mine. Please, let her stay.”
“She’s your friend? Alright, I’ll keep her. But I’m worried about her mental state…”
“No, she’s a hardworking girl. She’ll do well. Trust me,” I assured her before turning to leave.
I couldn’t say more. I needed to find Seraphina. Guilt gnawed at me. I hadn’t realized she’d experienced something so terrifying.
Damn it! No wonder she’d been so tense when I approached her in the locker room. I’d thought she was avoiding me because she disliked me. Instead, I’d punished her harshly…
I took a deep breath, forcing myself to stay calm. But I knew my priority wasn’t to see Seraphina just yet. I needed to figure out where this rogue werewolf had come from.
I teleported home.
My home stood near the forest, a sprawling estate nestled among dense trees. Nearby, a massive waterfall roared, its waters crashing relentlessly. The area wasn’t easily accessible by human standards, but that didn’t matter to us. Our abilities allowed us to move instantly wherever we wished.
Inside, I found Frederick, my father’s Beta and right-hand man.
“Frederick, have you seen my father?” I asked urgently.
“He’s out on business,” Frederick replied.
“I sensed a werewolf at the boxing club. It shouldn’t be there! The scent was unfamiliar-could it be from another pack?”
“I’ve received similar reports. Stray wolves have been active in town, and some residents have been attacked,” Frederick said, his brow furrowed. “This is unprecedented.”
“Why is this happening?”
“I’m still investigating, but we’re doing our best to protect the townspeople,” Frederick replied, pacing anxiously.
“This is bad. Stray wolves are usually driven out. They know how important this town is to our pack. Why would they dare come to Storm Town?”
“It seems I’ll need to look into this myself,” I said.
If Seraphina had encountered a stray wolf, it meant they were targeting her. If my wolf was obsessed with her scent, could others be as well?
Before I left, Frederick gave me one last piece of information.
“By the way, we’ve detected the stray wolves’ scent near the school. They seem to be focusing their activity there. Be careful.”
I nodded and left. I needed to protect Seraphina. If they were circling the school, it was likely because of her scent.
I was deeply worried. Seraphina was only human. To a werewolf, killing a human would be effortless.
I returned to my apartment. In human society, we had to conceal our abilities. Revealing our true nature would lead to disastrous consequences.
I wanted to find Seraphina. After leaving the club, I headed to her apartment, assuming she’d gone home.
But as I passed a nearby Italian restaurant, I caught her scent.
I was surprised she’d chosen to eat here, but it made things easier for me. Still, I felt nervous. How could I explain that I needed to stay by her side to protect her?
As I rehearsed my words, I saw Seraphina step out of the restaurant.
But she wasn’t alone. A man walked beside her, and they were laughing together.
