Meanwhile, Lachlan Willis’ gaze turned cold, a faint, indifferent glint in his eyes as he turned to leave.
But just as he was about to go, Master Inkwell called out to him.
“Lachlan Willis, stop!”
He barked.
Lachlan Willis froze for a moment, his expression unchanged, and asked, “Senior, is there something you need?”
Master Inkwell sneered, his face filled with anger as his sharp gaze locked onto Lachlan Willis.
“Do you have a problem with me?”
Lachlan Willis’ earlier expression of dissatisfaction hadn’t escaped Master Inkwell’s notice, and it irritated him greatly.
Earlier, when this kid had clashed with Isa Austin at the Orderwarden base, Master Inkwell had stepped in to stop them. Isa Austin, the Seed of Reincarnation, had responded respectfully, but this kid hadn’t even acknowledged him.
Master Inkwell had long been displeased with Lachlan Willis.
Moreover, he had heard that this kid was a “Seed of the Star Path” under the charge of Mona Woodward.
That only fueled his hostility toward him.
“I don’t dare!”
Lachlan Willis was momentarily stunned, his eyes flashing with surprise before he cupped his hands in respect.
In his mind, Master Inkwell was a peak Great Vehicle stage expert and the head of the Hall of Ten Thousand Matters, a figure of immense authority.
He never expected that the man would stop him and question him like this.
“Better not! Don’t think that just because you’re a Seed of the Star Path, you’re special. To me, you’re nothing.
No matter how talented or monstrous you are, until you’ve grown, you have no right to be arrogant!”
Master Inkwell’s cold voice cut through the air.
As he spoke, his face turned grim, and without warning, he slapped toward Lachlan Willis.
Caught off guard, Lachlan Willis was struck squarely in the chest, sending him flying back.
He hit the ground with a grunt, blood spilling from the corner of his mouth.
“Senior, what is this about?”
At that moment, anger rose in Lachlan Willis, and he demanded, “What do you mean by this?”
“No meaning at all! You and Claudia Carter ignored my warning and clashed before entering the foreign relic.
I’m just giving both of you a slap each. That’s all.”
Master Inkwell said flatly, his hands behind his back.
“But I didn’t do anything! Claudia Carter attacked me first.
Why should I be punished too? And it seems like your slap to me was heavier than the one you gave to her?”
Lachlan Willis questioned indignantly.
Master Inkwell raised an eyebrow and coldly sneered, “What? Are you trying to teach me how to do things?
I don’t care who attacked whom. If there was a conflict, both sides must be punished.
My logic is the law!
You, disagree?”
Lachlan Willis took a deep breath. He could now clearly feel that Master Inkwell, the head of the Hall of Ten Thousand Matters, was intentionally targeting him.
He couldn’t understand where he had offended the man.
Wiping the blood from his mouth, Lachlan Willis, faced with Master Inkwell’s domineering attitude, didn’t argue further. He merely got up and moved aside.
However, he silently made a note of the slap.
Master Inkwell gave him a cold, dismissive glance, a flicker of disdain and malice in his eyes. He snorted and walked away.
Within the Order Keepers Organization, besides the eighteen Guardians of the World, the four Demon Suppressors, and the Messenger of Will, Master Inkwell was effectively the highest authority.
As the head of the Hall of Ten Thousand Matters, he controlled nearly everything within the Order Keepers Organization.
His position and power were unmatched!
Even other strong experts of similar rank within the organization had to show him respect.
This mere Seed of the Star Path dared to show dissatisfaction with him?
And moreover, a Seed of the Star Path under Mona Woodward’s supervision?
If he didn’t teach this boy a lesson, how would his authority as the Hall of Ten Thousand Matters stand?
As for whether Lachlan Willis would hold a grudge, Master Inkwell didn’t care.
In his eyes, Lachlan Willis was just a slightly stronger ant.
A Seed of the Star Path, not even close to being a Seed of Reincarnation.
Who knew if he would even grow to be a threat?
Master Inkwell could easily squash him at any time, if he so desired.
Meanwhile, Lachlan Willis had come alone to a restricted area of the Kunlun Mountain Range. There, he began to use his Dragon’s Energy Primordial Technique to heal his wounds.
Then, he took out the soul gem that Claudia Carter had thrown at him.
Sitting down, he hesitated for a moment before attempting to pour a bit of his spiritual energy into the soul gem.
He was extremely cautious as he did this.
After all, he remembered how Sullivan Kidd of the Broken Pulse Sect had once tried to control him with a “Returning Heart Technique.”
So, when he injected his spiritual energy, he was fully prepared to defend against any potential mental invasion.
By now, his soul level had reached the Manifested Form.
Ordinary soul attacks should pose no threat to him.
*Buzz!*
The moment his spiritual energy entered the soul gem, he immediately felt a ripple of soul energy emanating from within.
It seemed to carry a sense of appeasement and warmth, not attempting to forcefully establish a soul connection, but rather to gently request or show goodwill.
After a moment’s contemplation, Lachlan Willis carefully shielded his soul with his spiritual energy before allowing himself to accept the soul wave.
*Whoosh!*
The next moment, a sudden realization struck him, and he felt an intimate connection form between his soul and another.
It was eerily similar to the time he had used soul control on Summer Willis.
“Lachlan Willis, do you believe me now?”
A voice rang directly in his mind.
Thanks to the soul connection, even though Claudia Carter was miles away, they could communicate directly through their minds.
At this moment, Lachlan Willis stood frozen, disbelief written all over his face.
What was going on?
Claudia Carter had actually gone through with the Soul Covenant?
She had truly handed over control of herself to him?
Had this woman really changed?
