MINDY THE HEAD CHEF

Book:REJECTED: CLAIMED BY THE ALPHA MAFIA Published:2025-2-23

THIRD PERSON POV:
One would think the phrase “if you want something done, do it yourself” is BS, but after Mindy’s attempts to get either Kiara or Veronica to play on her team fail, she decides it is best to work alone.
“I should have done this myself,” she grumbles as the taxi comes to a halt in front of the road leading to the Alpha’s mansion.
She makes her way down the road, hoping to find Isabella. It is a good thing she has someone willing to throw Veronica under the bus, making it easier for her to gain access to the house.
Upon reaching the gate, she finds Isabella and Ursula sweeping, as they were two days ago.
Ursula spots Mindy first, then says to Isabella, “She is here again.”
This causes Isabella to pause with the broom in hand, turning to face Mindy, who smiles at her. Isabella doesn’t return the smile, remembering Mindy’s words vividly. She hates Kiara, so she has no choice but to hate Mindy, too.
“Do not tell me you are angry about our little conversation from last time,” Mindy says to Isabella with a smile on her face.
“What is she talking about?” Ursula asks Isabella, and she shakes her head, unsure if Ursula will support her decision to get rid of the Luna.
Of course, she hates the Luna, but everyone knows it’s a serious offense to plot to kill the Luna, and they will put to death when caught.
“You made your intentions clear, and I’d be a fool to trust you,” Isabella says, and Mindy keeps her smile.
“So, one cannot have a change of heart? I have come to realize I cannot possibly do everything on my own, so I need your help,” she says, and Ursula glances between them.
“Okay, you guys are freaking me out. What the hell is going on?”
As Ursula speaks, Mindy turns to her, waving her hands in her face, causing Ursula to blink, then stagger backward.
In fear, Isabella rushes to her, catching her before she falls to the ground. Her eyes shut at once, causing Isabella to panic.
“What the hell did you do to her?” Isabella asks, and Mindy sighs.
“Relax, she is only asleep, and now she won’t disturb our conversation. She was talking too much,” she says in an unbothered tone.
Isabella looks at her, her brows drawn down.
“What do you want?” she asks, and Mindy shrugs.
“The same thing you want. Your Luna has my man, and I want him back. Then I can give her back to you, and she can have her Alpha again.”
She doesn’t reveal anything serious to Isabella about Kiara and Zane.
“What do you want from me, and how can I possibly help?” she asks, getting to her feet.
“I am glad you asked. I need to borrow your body for a moment,” she says, and Isabella stares at her with her mouth ajar. “Yup. Who is in charge of the Alpha’s food?” she asks.
“The head chef, Lila.”
“Hmm… too many names and people to meet, either way.” Mindy attempts to reach for her forehead, but Isabella moves back.
“What is your plan for the Alpha?” she asks, and Mindy’s brows furrow.
“Do you want your stupid Luna back or what?” she asks, and Isabella stares at her without a word. “I can easily shapeshift and make my way into the palace, but that is a longer process. If you want your Luna, then trust me. I got Veronica what she wanted, and she is Luna now. Plus, I do not need any favor from you; getting my man back is all I want,” she says, and Isabella feels compelled to help her.
She steps forward, allowing Mindy to place a hand on her forehead. In a few seconds, they swap bodies. Isabella looks at her body, now occupied by Mindy, and it freaks her out.
“Do not fear, you’ll have your body back in a matter of hours,” she says. “Dip your hands into the pockets of the cloak, and you’ll find the address of an apartment. Wait there until four in the morning, and return to this exact spot. Then I’ll give your body back.”
Isabella nods at her words.
“Now, run along before someone sees us.”
When she says this, Isabella leaves at once, and Mindy waits until she is out of sight before she scoots down to help Ursula up. As she raises her, she snaps her fingers, allowing Ursula to wake up.
“What… what happened?” Ursula asks, placing a hand on her head.
“Nothing, we have been working for a while, and you said you needed to rest. Remember, you didn’t sleep well last night.”
Mindy’s words rewire Ursula’s brain, and she nods at what Mindy said.
“Let’s finish up and go in,” Ursula says, and Mindy forces a smile.
Mindy hurriedly goes over her portion without saying much to Ursula, then she turns to face her.
“I’m thirsty, so I’m just going to grab a bottle of water,” she says, leaning the tall broom in her hands against the wall.
“Get me one too,” Ursula says, and Mindy forces a smile, making her way through the gates of the mansion.
Swiftly, she finds her way down the halls of the house, then stops in the kitchen.
There, she sees several chefs working tirelessly to cook a lot of dishes for the Alpha, as though he would eat all of them at once.
Her eyes dart across the room, trying to find the head chef, but she can’t. Suddenly, someone pushes her from behind, causing her to turn around and see a woman dressed in chef attire, looking neat with a name tag that says “Lila.”
“What are you looking for here, Kiara’s dog?”
Her words throw Mindy off balance. Everyone says she is evil, but hearing this lady refer to Isabella this way gets to her a bit.
“I… I just wanted to get a bottle of water,” she says, and Lila chuckles.
“Does this look like the slave chambers? Or have you lost your mind or something?” Lila asks in a harsh tone, causing Mindy to take a step back.
“I am sorry,” she says to Lila, giving a slight bow, then she makes her way out of the kitchen.
As she stands there, she thinks of a million ways to make Lila pay, but first, she knows she has to carry out her mission, so she waits for Lila in the hallway leading to the kitchen.
Soon, she hears Lila’s voice giving orders before she walks out of the kitchen again.
Mindy ambushes her, pressing a hand on her forehead. In no time she witches bodies with her. Before Lila, now in Isabella’s body, can speak, she waves her hand at her, causing her to fall, but she catches her before she hits the ground.
“Sorry, Isabella, but this asshole will be in your body for a while,” she says as she drags the body down the hall, opening a random room to find it empty.
She drags the body into the empty room and shuts the door, then she makes her way out, closing the door behind her. Swiftly, she walks down the hall, making her way to the kitchen. When she gets to the door, she takes a deep breath and walks in.
“What are y’all waiting for? The Alpha will need his meal soon! Hurry!” she yells, and the cooks run around, causing her to stand there with a smile on her lips.
Shortly, the food is ready, and the chefs take the food out to the dining table, where they lay the array of dishes out. Mindy stands there, watching as the head chef until they finish. In no time, the Alpha and Luna make their way downstairs to have lunch.
As Mindy spots Veronica holding Blake, all smiles, she feels her stomach knot in disgust.
“Enjoy it while it lasts,” she speaks to herself, then forces a smile on her face as she watches them take a seat.
The chef attempts to serve the meal, but Mindy stops her. She needs to make contact with the alpha for her plan to work.
“Let me do that,” she says, and Veronica glares at her. “I am in a wonderful mood this evening, my dearest Luna, so let me serve you, our beautiful queen.”
Hearing Lila shower her praises makes Veronica happy, so she relaxes.
Mindy grabs the bowl of soup, the first meal for the afternoon, then dishes it onto two plates, walking over to Blake first. As she places his food on the table, she brushes her hand slightly against his, allowing the spell she prepared to seep into his skin. With the smile on her face never fading, she takes Veronica’s bowl and walks toward her.
“Here you are, my beautiful queen. We should eat and make merry because we never know what comes next.”
Veronica turns to face her, and she flashes her a smile…
