THIRD PERSON POV:
Mindy’s plan is to get close to Kiara, and maybe find her way into Zane’s life, but knowing Zane has proposed to another woman drives her insane. When she was with Zane, she probed him about his desire to settle with her, but he was never straight with her. The fact he has moved on and she cannot tear her down.
“He is mine!” she says aloud as the taxi comes to a halt.
The driver glances at her through the rearview mirror, and she looks at him with her brows drawn down.
“And what are you looking at?” she asks in a vile tone, opening the door and getting out. Then she reaches for her purse, tossing the money into his car before walking off.
As she walks into her apartment, she slams the door shut, letting out a loud scream of frustration as she crashes to the floor. Her heart is racing, and all she can think of is how to get rid of Kiara. Just thinking of her makes her angry, and a part of her wishes Kiara was ugly, but she is pretty. She thinks of what to do, then suddenly it crosses her mind that she had skin-to-skin contact with Kiara when they shook hands, and she felt something about her.
She gets to her feet at once, then rushes to her bedroom, opening her closet to take out her globe. She is about to rub it when her phone goes off. With a groan, she places the globe on her bed, then takes out her phone to see it’s Zane calling.
She picks up the call and places the phone to her ear.
“Stay the fuck away from my business, Mindy!” Zane’s angry tone comes through the phone, causing her to pull the phone away from her ear slightly as his voice almost pierces her eardrums.
“Zane, it is seven in the evening, and I get a call from you shouting. What the hell is wrong with you?” she asks, her heart pounding, hoping she hasn’t been caught, because that would mean her access to Kiara would be gone.
“You know what I mean, Mindy. I don’t know how the hell you found out about my fiancee-because, well, you are Mindy, and you are cunning-but I want you to get the fuck away from her!” His words hurt her because he never picked anyone over her until now.
Even when Gia liked him, he picked her. She was his Mindy, but now he has changed, all because of Kiara. The thought of it makes her sick, and she can only think of Kiara’s head on a stake.
“Now, let me tell you something you do not know, Zane. I don’t bloody care if you’ve moved on, because I want you. You swore you would be with me forever, and you think you can go off, get engaged, and Mindy will be happy? NO!” she yells over the phone, and Zane chuckles.
“You should look at yourself, Mindy. You’re fucking crazy, and this is why we can never be together. Your job is to hurt people, and I don’t want to be part of that, because I can bet everything I have that you’re thinking of a million ways to hurt Kiara, and I swear I will kill you, Mindy.”
Her heart skips a beat when he says this. He doesn’t sound like her Zane anymore. Her Zane would never threaten to kill her, but this Zane is doing that.
“I don’t know what has gotten into you, Zane, but I want my Zane back,” she says, shaking her head. “I refuse to believe that my Zane would want to kill me. My Zane promised to love me forever, and whatever it is you’ve done to him, please, I want him back,” she says, her voice cracking.
“There is no your Zane anymore, Mindy. Matter of fact, I blocked you after we met at the bar, and I am only calling to warn you. Leave my fiancee alone!” he screams into the phone, then he ends the call.
Mindy stands there for a moment, feeling her heart shatter. She isn’t perfect, and she kills people who threaten her peace-except Zane, because she loves him so much. Soon, air seems to leave her lungs, causing her to take deep, steady breaths. Then she walks to her bed, sitting on it.
She feels like crying, but she tries hard to hold back her tears.
“You can’t do this, Mindy. He makes you weak, but you always fight back. You need to fight back, and if you can’t have him, then no one can.” As she says this, she sniffs and wipes the tears stuck in her eyes, which she refuses to let out.
Then she grabs her globe, placing her hand on it.
“Oh… witches of old, separate Kiara’s energy from mine and tell me what I need to know.”
As Mindy traces her fingers beneath the globe, a faint glow pulses beneath her fingertips, and a fog covers the globe. Suddenly the fog clears to reveal Kiara adorned in a robe with multitudes bowing to her.
“She was a Luna?” she questions as she watches the crowd of were-people bow before Kiara, but suddenly the clouds grow dark, and she sees a familiar figure.
“I know that woman!” she gasps as she watches Veronica put a potion into Blake’s meal.
Then the scene shifts to Blake falling in love with Veronica and going to bed with her. She sees Kiara heartbroken after finding out about their affair, then she watches Blake push Kiara away, claiming Veronica in her presence.
It goes on to where Zane arrives to ambush the pack, but his plan fails. She watches Kiara get banished by her pack for a fake affair that Veronica planned, then she sees Zane purchase Kiara for a huge sum. She is angry to see Zane all over Kiara, but when she sees Zane torturing Kiara and taking out his anger on her, a smile spreads across her lips at once.
“Oh!” she exclaims when Kiara kills Natalie.
She watches with intent, but as the scene shifts faster to Zane, falling helplessly for Kiara, she gasps, taking her hands off the globe.
“Stop!” she screams, getting to her feet with her hands on her chest as she tries to catch her breath.
The last thing she wants to watch is a love story between the man she would die for and another woman.
She takes a deep breath.
“You cannot be doing this right now. You are Mindy, and everyone should fear you,” she says to herself like she is reciting a daily mantra.
Then she sits back on the bed, massaging her temples.
Her mother used to tell her about karma, but she had no clue it would hit this hard. She messed with Kiara by giving Veronica the potion she fed Blake, which blinded him toward Kiara, and now Kiara has Zane.
What puzzles her most is the fact that all of them were interconnected. Kiara’s pack hurt Zane, and now they end up together. She helps Veronica get Blake, and she loses Zane. Suddenly it hits her, and she realizes she is the loser.
“I guess I deserved that,” she mutters in a low tone. “But no one gets to have my Zane! And I can never be the loser. Not in this life!” she grits her teeth.
Then she walks to the mirror, looking at herself. She hates the fact that she looks like her mother, and each time she looks at herself, she feels the same judging eyes.
Her hands run across her hair, and she feels it has grown longer, which makes her look like her mom.
“I can never look like her, and I’ll never be her. Good people disgust me,” she mutters, reaching for scissors in the drawer, then she starts trimming her hair.
She gets carried away and trims it lower than intended.
“Fuck this!” She tosses the scissors away as she stares at the most disastrous pixie cut.
She crashes down on the floor, thinking of the mess she created.
She knows she can easily undo the spell, and Veronica will lose, letting Kiara win. Or she could side with Veronica, who can help her capture Kiara and kill her. After much contemplation, she chooses Veronica.
“Good people never win, and I will not have someone who indulged in my mother’s magic tell me what to do,” she says, trying to convince herself Kiara will not be the best option.
Also, she can’t bear speaking with Kiara, knowing that she claimed what is hers.
“I’ll make you pay for this, Kiara,” she says, then she throws herself on her bed.
