Xavier’s POV
I called the house intercom and the butler answered, after greetings he gave the phone to aunt,
“Hello Xavier ”
“Good day aunt, I have news for you and grandfather ”
“News for us, let me put it on speak out, yor grandfather is here, hope everything is okay honey ”
“Yes, everything is more than okay, it’s fine than ever ”
“Ok, calm down Xavier, you are really excited something good must have really happened ”
“Yes aunt, Jess is pregnant, she is three weeks pregnant, we confirmed at the hospital ”
“Oh my God, thank you God thank you God, Jess baby!!! Am so proud of you ”
“Thanks Aunt, am so happy too, am gonna be a parent and you a grandma”
“This is so exciting, grandfather is all tears, this is really good news, we are really very happy, you both make us proud ”
“Xavier my grandson, Jessica my dear daughter, thank you both for making my dream come true, especially you Jessica thank you for giving my grandson a family ”
“Grandfather, I am already his family and I am happy to have met Xavier too”
“No we are lucky to have you, take care of yourself, we will be coming tomorrow ”
“Okay, bye”
We hugged each other again and then went to the doctor’s office holding hands, now I know why he congratulated me, am so fucking happy right now I could lift this hospital building (just joking but am overjoyed ) the doctor was all smiles when he saw us, we returned his smile because we were so happy,
“Congratulations once again Mr and Mrs McCartney ”
“Thank you so much Doc, so is there anything we need to do or know?”
“Yes, the first trimester maybe hard for your wife, the mood swings, morning sickness, craving many weird and ridiculous foods and smells, so bear with her”
“I have no problem, I will make sure she is comfortable during this period”
“And avoid any strenuous activities during this period especially sex, it isn’t safe yet so please be careful, and register for the antenatal as soon as you can since this is your first pregnancy so you will learn more”
“Okay doctor, any thing she should avoid eating?”
“Alcohol, smoking, any strenuous activities, antidepressant and any other string medicine though I advise you take what the doctors prescribe for you ”
“Okay Doc, we heard everything you said and we will do as you said, thank you a lot”
“You can be discharged, nothing is wrong with you ”
“Okay Doc, thank you a lot once again, am really grateful ”
“You are welcome, you both deserve happiness after everything so am sincerely happy for you ”
We left the doctor’s office and went to process her discharge which we went home after, the maids seems to have gotten the information because they were all jubilating when we got back, seems auntie told them so that Jessica’s food would be carefully made, we thanked them a lot, after freshening up we came downstairs to eat, now I also know why she has a big appetite,
“This is your food ma, now you are eating for two, I will increase your normal portion ”
“Thank you so much ”
“It’s nothing, you have our young mistress in you so we got to take care of her”
“Young mistress?”
“We all pray you will birth a baby girl first, we will make sure to dress her up adorably and cute”
“Well I don’t know the gender yet but we are okay with anyone ”
“Honey, I want a girl child first too, sons are a headache ”
“Says the only son”
“What’s wrong with that”
“You are saying this because you know you can’t handle someone that is more stubborn than you ”
“Nope, I wasn’t a stubborn kid, am just saying that I want female first that’s all”
“Okay, my lord, your wish is my command ”
“No babe, you are my queen and I would do anything to make you happy, so don’t say that okay ”
“I will leave you two lovebirds to yourselves, you can eat your food it’s all set”
“Thank you aunty, tell the butler to take any three wines from the wine cellar for you guys to drink during your barbeque night”
“Thank you Sir Xavier and Ma Jessica ”
“No problem, we are thankful to you all too”
She left jubilating, I have told her to stop calling me sir even Jessica but she wouldn’t, she has been with me as our cook since I was born, when I was moving out, she asked my grandfather to let her go with me, she is the one literally brought me up, she started working with us when she was nineteen years old and has been with me ever since, she has little grandson now, so she is one like family to me.
We both are and went upstairs, after brushing our teeth we went to bed,
“Am honestly happy that we are finally making a family like we desired”
“Me too babe me too”
“I just hope we don’t have any more trouble hereon because I don’t want to lose anyone of you and we have something we have to protect now”
“Don’t worry babe I will make sure both of you are safe from any harm”
“Thank you, I trust you, you kept me safe before and I know you will do it again ”
“Thank you for your kind words love, it means a lot to me”
It wasn’t long before she slept off, I couldn’t sleep, with happiness comes the reality that I have a lot responsibility especially towards my family, I have a responsibility to keep them safe at all times, I need to up my game as soon as possible, I cuddled her to myself,
“Don’t worry love, I will keep you safe, nothing will happen to you both, I won’t allow it”
Then I kissed her on the forehead and closed my eyes.
