Cara POV
Adonis shut the door carefully behind him as we walked into the room.
“What’s up?” I wheeled around, cradling my bump
“You sounded like you had something urgent to say.”
“That Jacob guy…” He replied, the same possessive look from earlier, still etched on his face. “You were smiling at him.”
My face contorted, “Yeah… he’s a guest. Is it a bad thing to be hospitable?”
“Cecelia likes him.”
“Yes… Where’s this going?”
“We should stand for Luca. I don’t like him.” He crossed his arms, eyes communicating exactly how he felt.
“Oh… that ship sailed a long time ago, Adonis. Cecelia loves him. There’s nothing I can do about it.” I walked up to him, standing on my toes to straighten out the lines on his forehead releasing the tightness of his face. “Staring me down wouldn’t change a thing. I told you; you can’t use the same tactics you use on other people on me.”
“How is it… possible to fall in love that easily?” He spat like the words themselves left a bitter taste in his mouth. For a second, I thought I detected a hint of puzzlement in it.
It made me smile… that something this little could unwind him so much… could make him perplexed.
“Honestly, for most people? Yes. It’s an instantaneous action. But for Cecelia, this is more than love; he makes her feel secure and peaceful.”
“Logically, that makes no sense. Luca has over a thousand men in his command. She has more probability of being safe with him than some CEO boy.”
“The heart wants what it wants. It’s love; it doesn’t have to be logical.” I explained softly, opting to leave out the fact that she might still feel something for Luca. It didn’t mean she’d change her mind, so I didn’t want to raise anyone’s hope.
The lines returned as he took in my words, his twitching eyebrow and crinkling nose showing his reaction to the thought process. I could tell the wheels were turning hard.
Suddenly, he grunted, wetting his lips as they parted. Then closed again, and proceeded to stare at me, unblinking.
This reaction… he had something to say…
Adonis was forever confident, stuck up and condescending, if I may add. The fact that he was acting like a two-year-old who wanted to ask for extra candy but didn’t know how to, meant he was about to do something that was out of his comfort zone.
Managing the big baby I called my husband was a nice training for when we had the boys. It helped me put the mothering skills I never knew I had to practice.
“Do you… have something to say?” I encouraged
His lips parted again, “Not me.”
Not him.
It was my turn to draw up a blank.
“Sorry?”
He inhaled deeply, “I won’t…” The serious expression on his face told me he had tried his best but found that theory incomprehensible. “If you ever get fed up, that’s it for me!” He announced firmly.
“If I ever get fed up with you?”
“Hmm.” He hummed. “Because if we were to ever go our separate ways, it’ll never be because of me.”
A warm feeling spread throughout my chest.
Who was this man, and where was the cruel, emotionless mafia heir I met eight months ago? I could be deemed stupid for falling for his sweet words. There was no proof that they wouldn’t change in the future but at the moment, they were the assurance I needed.
“You said you always want to know how I feel.” He added as if to explain his response. “Also, I have my second fight tomorrow night. The ring reached out to me. They’d like to introduce me as a guest contestant.”
The second news snatched away the fuzzy feeling. My first instinct was to argue it out… tell him it was dangerous and make him aware of all the injuries he was sure to sustain if he wasn’t lucky this time, but I restrained myself, pulling on a tight-lipped smile.
“So you’re going?”
“Yes. It’s a ruse. Diavolo is trying to see if I’m worth the gamble.” His jaw ticked. “You can… come along if you want to.”
“Nah… I’m fine. I’d rather stay back.”
Adonis took a step back, “You would, wouldn’t you?”
“Yes.” I laughed. “One fight was enough. I can’t go through the same tension again.” My fingers brushed over his stubble, causing him to shudder. “I trust you’ll win again… you have to, or I’ll have no choice but to date someone else and find a new father for the babies.”
His arm immediately went around my waist, “‘Our’ babies. You’ve got to stop threatening me with that.”
Shamelessly rubbing myself on him, my promise to Cecelia floated at the back of my mind.
This was an opening…
My heart pounded in my chest. I wanted it. I desperately wanted him, but the insecurity I felt was greater. The extra weight could be overlooked but the stretch marks?
Would he still find me desirable?
I shook my head to get rid of the wandering thoughts, “It’s not a threat. It’s our future if you fail to return from the fight, and like most people, I fall easily.” My fingers slowly traced his chest in a tease.
I was playing with fire. One that I wasn’t sure if I could tame the heat.
Adonis’s grip tightened. “Don’t tempt me, Bel. I see where this is going.”
“You know,” the purr slipped from my lips. “You haven’t been showing your pregnant wife much love lately. Do you think you can give me ten minutes of your time?”
Perhaps, we could play around a bit… it doesn’t have to be all the way.
“What do you want?”
“A kiss,” I said,
What harm could that do?
“Cara-
“It’ll be fine. It’s just a kiss.”
Adonis’s eyes glazed over, staring at me like I was a feast. “I won’t stop. It’s been so long, Bel.” He said lowly. “I don’t think I would be able to control myself.”
Me too for heaven’s sake… Could we really… could I… Should we… Oh to hell with it!
My eyes slanted mischievously, “Who said anything about control?”
His eyes flicked over my bump, confirming the worry I had already suspected. “Is it safe? I don’t want to hurt you.”
“It is,” I replied breathlessly.
Why wasn’t he taking me already? Especially before I changed my mind.
“Fine! Then you have to stop hiding yourself from me.”
That snapped me right out of my lust-clouded senses… leaving behind a fog of desire.
“You noticed?”
“Obviously. You liked walking naked around the room back at the mansion, and all of a sudden, we’re using different bathrooms and dressing rooms despite sleeping in the same room? I’m not a child, Bel.”
I gulped, wishing I had thought of a way to escape my predicament before jumping into this. I shrugged his arm off me.
So much for trying…
“I’m fat, Adonis. You haven’t seen me without clothes on in a long time. I don’t think-what are you doing?”
A shriek escaped my lips as he reached for the hem of my shirt.
“Take it off.”
“I don’t want to.”
His gaze met mine, their lifeless hold freezing me in a spot. “I didn’t ask. It was an order. Take it off. Now.”
As though they had a mind of their own, my hand began to move down, and in less than a minute, the shirt was off. Leaving me in just the shorts and a sports bra that had my chest in a strained pushback.
I have never been one of those ladies with a huge chest, but the pregnancy hijacked me from a simple A into a whopping C.
I silently watched as his gaze raked over them, his Adam’s apple bobbing like he was drinking them in. His hands cupped my chest, his thumbs brushing against the taut nipples. His eyes fluttering close as he let out a groan in response to their soft flesh, savoring the feel of myself in his hands.
“Good girl.” I couldn’t help the shudder. His voice, firm a moment ago, sounded husky and deep, causing the lower part of me to let out a sample of the dam that was ready to explode within me.
“Turn around.”
Involuntarily, I hesitated.
“Last warning, Cara. You won’t like what I’d do next.”
I turned around, nervously waiting for the next order, yet he didn’t say a word. Just when I was about to check if he was still there, the sound of the door locking reached my ears.
Clack!
That was the trigger I needed. All my insecurities disappeared, leaving behind a pool of desires. In my heart, in my belly, and most importantly, in between my legs.
It took a great deal of self-control not to clench my thighs together for some form of relief.
“Take off your pants.”
Unlike the shirt, it was gone faster than I thought I could get them off, baring my thong-clothed behind to him.
“Spread your legs apart.” His words had a sense of urgency to them, letting me know I wasn’t the only one eager.
My legs parted. “Adonis…” I heaved. “I don’t think I have the patience for this. Just… take me. F*ck me already.”
“What. No longer shy? You have no say in this.” I felt him move behind me, the heat from his body radiating to mine. He was so close… so close, yet we didn’t touch. “I wanted this. Only you get to decide. You’re mine to use as I wish tonight, for my pleasure. Understood?”
He must be crazy if he thought I would adh-
“Adonis!” I sucked in a sharp breath, my hand moving to slow down the thickly muscled arm between my legs. “Too fast… too… too… oh my… Adonis… my… heaven’s!” I gasped, unable to form a coherent sentence.
His fingers, which were creating a pleasurable friction on my lower parts, slipped into the tiny fabric keeping me from being completely exposed.
“You like that?” He went faster and I tried to match his thrust.
“No. Too fast. My… my… please…” A tear slipped from my eye. “This feels so…”
Suddenly his pace reduced.
“Are you crazy?” I growled. “Don’t slow down.”
He didn’t point out the fact that I just complained about him being too fast and picked up the pace again. The sensation had my toes curling and body tingling in every place possible.
“Adonis… don’t stop.” I bounced, falling out of rhythm. I didn’t care that my chest was beginning to spill out and kept chasing my high.
He must’ve noticed because I felt it: two hard fingers sliding into my warm heat as his mouth met my nape.
His touch, the heat I felt from him, the raw desire in his eyes- it was too much. A wave of dizziness washed over me, and I jerked, almost there.
Then, a tearing sound, sharp and sudden, echoed in the room, and my breath ceased.
I felt the rush slippery rush before I knew it.
That was it for me. And my underwear too.
