“So, will you do it?” I asked my mother.
“Do what?” She asked absentmindedly.
“Will you divorce Marcellino and go for the man you love?”
She sighed and her body shuddered.
“I haven’t made up my mind yet Jen. I want him, dear god I want him so bad” I wanted to cover my ears and run out of my bedroom at the sight of my mum confessing at the sight of my mum confessing desire. “He’s wealthy. He’s very wealthy and I don’t have to worry about my habits. I can gamble every day of my life and his money wouldn’t even be affected. You could come and live with us”
“As if I don’t have a life on my own ”
“Forgive me, I’m sorry I forgot. You’re twenty one”
“You know my birthday is coming up in the next seven days”
She stilled and then laughed nervously.
“Of course, I will never forget your birthday”
She was lying, she had totally forgotten about my birthday.
Kylee showed up at the door, her hair was a mess, there were hickey on her chin and jaw.
“Christian just left” she said and then she looked at my mother.
She looked nervous, the after sex look only made it worse.
I stood up.
“What happened?” I asked her.
I found out as I got closer that she was shifting her weight from one foot to another.
“What happened to Chriss?” My mother interrupted.
“Elisa, he had an argument and he’s angry. He just left and I don’t know where he’s going. When I tried to stop him, he yelled at me. I’ve never seen him so angry before, he… He drove his car right into the fountain outside and drove off…”
My mother ran out from my room and she was running downstairs.
“What happened?” Kylee asked me, brushing her tears violently away from her cheeks.
“Nothing. I just came downstairs to meet my mum”
Kylee shook her head and ran after my mother.
I was about to run with them when I felt an ache in my belly. It was sharp. I leaned on the wall and groaned. The pain passed and I staggered to my feet.
I went to the bedroom, combed my hair, and changed my clothes. Before I ran out the door, I branched into the kitchen and grabbed the bag of cookies on the counter.

“I can’t have her even for an hour!” I yelled and punched the the steering. The car skittered away from the road. I was a second away from slamming into a tree and I turned a sharp right.
I heard sirens drawing near, it was loud and annoying.
The police bike stopped and an officer walked towards me.
“You were driving way past the speed limit, sir, please step away from the vehicle”
I gritted my teeth and tightened my hand on the steering.
“How much?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, please step away from the car”
I picked my wallet and handed it over to the man but he didn’t take it.
“You drive a sports car at rate that’s illegal, I flagged you and you tried to brine me?”
“Come on, everyone can be bought, just name your price ”
“Step down from the car” the man’s voice was stern.
“Catch me first ” I said and I zoomed up, I drove as fast as I could. The adrenaline spread through my body and I smiled ever wider when I saw that more police cars were chasing me.
I took a sharp left turn, drove through an Alley. The two buildings scratched against my car and for a moment, I thought it would get stuck but I bursted through.
I knew I had lost the police when their sirens started moving forward and the sound started getting lower and lower till it disappeared. I took a left turn and drove very far, I did not stop until I had pulled up in front of a bar.
It was exotic, and big.
I walked in, the bouncers in front passed through and they pushed the door open for me. I walked to the counter and ordered a drink.
Before I could take the first sip, a purr greeted me.
“Take your hands away” I told the woman and her hands flew away from me but she didn’t leave.
She took the seat next to me and leaned on the counter.
“My, my… It’s not every day I see works of art like you” the woman purred.
I finished the content of my drink at once and I asked the bartender to refill my glass. Another woman came by my left hand side.
“Hey handsome, want some company?”
They all had accents, Budapest born.
They were like flies, no matter how hard I swatted, they wouldn’t go away, so I didn’t even try.
I finished my drink and asked for another one.
“I think he’s angry” one of the women said, I wasn’t surprised to see that there were now four each at my sides. Eight of them were staring at me.
“Hey man, I would have to ask you to leave” a deep voice shouted over the loud music.
I didn’t even spare the mother fucker a glance.
“Hey, you can’t just throw him out, he’s a customer” one of the women said.
“I’d don’t see him buying any drinks for you girls. Why does he get to keep so many of you”
“He’s stealing our girls” another man yelled.
I continued drinking.
I felt one man’s hand on my shoulder and dropped my cup.
“Get your hands off” I told him and he tightened his grip.
He was a brute. Tall and big.
“Out, I said ” he snarled.
“You asked for this”
He squinted his eyes but before he could make another movement, I grabbed my cup and smashed it at the side of his face.
He yelled and moved backwards, glass cut I to his flesh and it drew blood.
“I told you to get your hands off me” I said to him.
His eyes widened and he roared.
