Conrad spoke as he effortlessly lifted her up and carried her out of the plane.
He didn’t rush back to Hillside Villa; instead, he tossed Lillian into the car, tugged at his collar, and ordered Andrew to go to the company first.
“Sir.” Andrew was highly sensitive to the smell of blood.
Someone in the car had definitely been injured.
If it wasn’t Miss Lillian, then it had to be Mr. Conrad.
However, Conrad remained silent, his face dark, while Lillian acted as if she wasn’t even there.
When they arrived at Brown Family Group, Lillian refused to get out of the car.
“If you want everyone at Brown Family Group to watch you get dragged into the company, try staying here.”
Lillian sneered. “Do you think I care?”
Conrad’s fingers tightened into a fist, and with a cold, casual smile, he spoke. “Looks like you’re not planning to listen to me, huh? Well, from now on, I’ll count down. Every time I count, someone around you will suffer. Who should I start with? That Osborn? Or your teacher?”
Lillian finally opened her eyes, turned to meet his gaze, and then coldly opened the car door.
He had achieved his goal, but there was no joy in his expression.
All his thoughts and emotions had been bottled up in his chest, suffocating him.
When the elevator doors opened, the staff in the CEO’s office were already standing in two neat lines.
True to being Conrad’s people, no one showed the slightest surprise when they saw her return.
“Good day, Mr. Conrad.”
Conrad opened the office door, and naturally, Lillian had no choice but to follow him inside.
But she didn’t expect there to already be someone waiting for them in the office.
When Conrad saw George, there was no surprise in his expression, but when George saw him, he immediately stood up and stepped forward, and the two men started fighting.
“What are you standing there for? Get the hell out!” Conrad shouted at Lillian, who was still frozen in the doorway.
“Afraid now? Realizing you should’ve been worried about your woman when you messed with Melissa?”
This was the first time Lillian had seen George hit anyone.
George was always distant and dignified, a perfect match for every parent’s ideal son-in-law.
He was calm, gentle, and a doctor who saved lives. From childhood to adulthood, it seemed like he’d never done anything out of line.
His friendship with Conrad was the only thing that had ever made him a little intimidating.
But now, Lillian realized that George wasn’t just a gentleman-he could throw a punch when needed.
“Why the hell didn’t you say you were hurt?! Always asking for trouble!” George cursed, looking at the blood on his hands, remembering the two punches he had taken to his back. His eyelids twitched.
Conrad sneered. “This little thing is considered an injury? If you’re not happy, find a place to keep hitting me.”
“Get over here!” George yelled at Conrad.
Lillian couldn’t understand these two at all.
One moment they were fine, the next they were fighting, but when it mattered, they were as tightly bonded as a rope.
“Stay still!” George barked at Lillian, and when she finally froze, he tossed his phone at her. “Call Melissa. She’s been dragged down enough by you. At least let her know you’re okay.”
Lillian hadn’t realized that Conrad was crazy enough to go after Melissa while George was still there.
She unlocked the phone and saw George’s contact for Melissa.
[Stubborn Girl]
Lillian dialed the number.
It was immediately hung up on.
“You need to dial again,” George said, rummaging through the medical kit without even turning around.
As if this was a routine matter he’d done countless times before.
Sure enough, Melissa answered on the second try.
“What’s going on? I’m not out wandering around right now.”
“Melissa.”
There was a pause on the other end, followed by the sound of Melissa falling onto the couch with a gasp.
“Lillian?! You got caught? Did George and Conrad catch you? That bastard, I knew he wasn’t anything good.”
“What happened to you?”
“How are you now?”
The two of them asked the same question at the same time, and then both fell into a heavy silence.
“Did Conrad use me to threaten your family?”
Melissa sneered. “That’s not true. What, do you think he could just kill me? Plus, there’s George.”
“Did he do that?”
“Kind of, but it wasn’t too bad. After you left, he just went crazy. Actually, it wasn’t just our family. Where have you been these past few days? Did he do anything to you after he found you?”
Lillian had thought about how angry Conrad would be, but she hadn’t wanted to dwell on the consequences.
She felt that no matter how deep the obsession, it would eventually burn out.
But she hadn’t expected him to go so far as to make enemies everywhere and act like he wasn’t dying fast enough.
“Anything else happens?”
Melissa didn’t want to burden her more. “It’s just oppression. My family is fine, but you… what are you going to do next?”
Lillian didn’t know how to answer.
“Still planning to run?”
“Melissa, stop associating with me.”
“You dare! Lillian, are you crazy? I’m the one who gave up everything when your family went bankrupt! I even sold my dowry from the Thomas family for you! And now you want to cut ties over Conrad? Are you out of your mind?! Fine, I’ll go back to George and keep up the act. As long as I’m still the Thomas family’s daughter-in-law, do you really think Conrad can swallow up the Thomas family on his own? The board members of Brown Family Group wouldn’t just stand by and let him go crazy. If he gets attacked from all sides, he won’t come out of it unscathed! His dad isn’t dead yet!”
The heir to the Brown family could still be replaced!
“Anyway, I won’t let you cut ties with me! Don’t ever mention it again.” Melissa took a few steps forward. “If you say that again, I’m really going to get mad. It’s not a big deal, Lillian. Don’t say things like that.”
Melissa, remembering all the fear she’d been through lately, sighed. “How did you end up with such a crazy man?”
In the office, George frowned as he looked at the sauce on Conrad’s wound.
“Are you planning to turn yourself into a steak and serve it hot to Lillian? What’s going on here? Have you ever been taking your meds lately?” The more George spoke, the angrier he got.
“No, I haven’t,” Conrad told the truth. “The moment I saw her, I felt a lot better.”
“I think you’ve gone completely insane.”
“No, I really did fall asleep.”
And it was a deep sleep.
It had been a long time since he’d felt that way.
George frowned. “The psychiatrist told me you haven’t been in for a while. What exactly do you want? Do you still want to be a normal person?”
“I don’t think I’m sick.”
“Which insane person thinks they’re sick? Do you even know what’s normal about you?” George took off his glasses and rubbed his brow. “Conrad, you have to face the fact that your problem is serious. You must get treatment immediately. Otherwise, do you really think Lillian is going to want to live with a crazy man like you?!”
