“Honestly, there are times I don’t trust him, but I do what I have to do because it’s my duty to him. This would be the first time I am disobeying him, disregarding his request. Probably because he was vague on why he wanted you before your shift, and why he didn’t want you to meet your mother.”
“So, if he had explained down to the tiniest detail, you would have captured me for him?” Emma asked, teasing her sister who shrugged her shoulders.
“I don’t know, Emma. All I know is that you mean a lot to me, more than the master. I don’t know what that speaks of my personality as a servant.”
Emma laughed, happiness shining in her eyes, as she scooted closer to Amelia, making sure to keep the energy in her running around and brimming at the surface should her sister change her mind, and attack her.
If there was anything that she had learnt in the past month, or rather few days, it was the people were very fickle, whether they were just humans or supernaturals. And right now, her sister wasn’t exempted. She had herself only to trust, and maybe Freya.
When she got into proximity with Amelia, who seemed to be ruminating on her latest act of disobedience, she rested her head on her sister’s shoulder. “So, what are you going to do? Are you going to return to him? What sort of punishment would he give you?”
Amelia placed her own head on Emma’s, and took the latter’s hands in hers, squeezing it once. “I don’t know, Em. As I mentioned earlier, this is my first rebellion. But I think the penalty might be death.”
Emma shot up from Amelia’s shoulders, but the latter wasn’t fazed by the sharp movement. “Death? Why do you think that?”
Amelia shrugged her shoulders, looking forlorn for the first time in the longest time.
Emma heaved in anger. The last time had been when her sister had complained about June and her ex-boyfriend, during one of the few calls they had made during her first days in England. She didn’t like it. She didn’t like the master either.
“I don’t know. It’s just a feeling. The same feeling I had gotten when I asked him about the matron and he had been vague about it. I have been getting that feeling lately too. I also feel that I am not the only one working for him, even though he makes me feel that way, mainly to increase my productivity and efficiency with assignments, I think.”
“He is evil. That’s what I think.”
Amelia looked at Emma then with a smirk. “You haven’t even met him, Emma. How is it that you have an opinion of him already?”
Emma clucked her tongue. “I don’t need to meet him. Enough about him. What are you going to do now?”
Amelia smiled a knowing smile that had Emma’s hopes soaring.
“Now, I will follow you to the ends of the earth.” She said, ignoring the consistent violent knocking on the door of her mind.

“So, what are we going to do now? About this new information.”
“Nothing.” Zipfarah answered. “We already have a lot in our hands, with what is going on now. Emma is on the loose. I don’t know where she is. Although I am sure Prescott is with her, and that’s better at least. Leonarya is set on wreaking havoc with Legarodo. So, no. This is not the time to talk about a family feud. Where is Esther by the way?”
Margo looked at Keturah for an answer. Keturah bit her lip in resignation. There was no other way of saying this. “Esther was working for Leonarya the last time I checked.”
Margo gasped, a tear leaking again, as she remembered that the black witch had actually told her this, and she hadn’t believed it.
“I believe it is because Leonarya must have promised to free you if she worked for her. The girl believed hook line and sinker. I am not sure where she is now, but I can check around once it is dawn.”
“I would like to go now…”
“But…”
“Let her be, Ketura. Margo can hold her own.”
Keturah thought of mentioning that it hadn’t stopped Leonarya from capturing the woman, but she held back. It will be a perfect time after all to tell the latter about Tempest’s plan.
Even if the latter had committed an unreasonable act in the past, it won’t affect the success of the plan because Tempest wasn’t aware, and because, well, the world was at stake.

“You both aren’t going to say a word on what just happened?” Maya asked finally, after several beats had gone by, in which Yodah, having figured what had happened, had walked over to an unconscious Eva and carried the little girl in his arms. They were returning to the main room of the Alpha’s residence.
“Was it magic?”
Freya laughed, flinging her hand over Maya’s shoulder. “Not at all. It was Prescott.”
“Prescott? How? I didn’t see him anywhere. How did he know where to find us?” Maya couldn’t help the awe and unbelief that coated her voice.
“Well, before he had left with Casper’s body for burial, we had exchanged blood, to ensure communication even across great distances. Emma hadn’t been aware, she had been crying over Casper’s body, and I had thought it wise to make the suggestion to the squirrel telepathically. I had the feeling that we would be parting ways soon. He was okay with it. So, when Eva had approached us with the intent to kill, I knew that Prescott would be the only way to help us, not because we couldn’t fight her, but because we didn’t want to hurt her. So, I told him, knowing his teleportation speed. He hadn’t stopped because he was on his way somewhere, probably to Emma.”
Maya was about to comment on that awesomeness, when there was suddenly a shout in the great room. The trio looked at each other before running with their entire might through the remaining distance, coming to a stupefied halt when they saw a weeping Sheila in the arms of an unknown man.
