CHAPTER 530: DISTURBED

“So, Fayot…Is there anything else you can tell us about Legardo which you think will be useful in trapping him or defeating him?” Sheila questioned.
They had all returned from the search some minutes ago, and after exchanging information, had convened at the sitting room of the Alpha’s residence. With them were Yodah, Ava and Eva.
Eva, who was still scratching her hands, though subtly, even after taking her bath three times, and applying the lavender oil her mother had mentioned had soothing and healing properties.
“Well, I am not sure.”
Fayot started, a furrow to his eyebrows.
Fayot had always seen Legardo as a wild cunning cat, someone that you could never predict. He had tried, and he had failed for every goddamn time.
“He is quite cunning, and with his two very special children under his beck and call, I would say it would be tricky to trap him.” ”
Do the children know of his double identity?” Melvina questioned, her hands remaining clasped with Peter’s.
At their return, he had joined them to hear the results of their goings-on, after communicating his plans with the pack, since Derek had refused to leave his room yet.
“I’m not sure. But if I am to take a guess, they don’t. If there’s someone that might, it would be Leo. But he isn’t here. He would have been the best person to let us know more about the personality of this Legardo and the one that had fathered him. Surely, he must have something to say. Legardo also is very connected to magic and witches. As a matter of fact, I don’t think that Leonarya is the only witch that he is working with.” Fayot answered, after a beat.
Freya nodded her head in agreement. “That would explain the shifter’s ability to take the form of a vampire, and still return to his normal self. For god sake, where did the maggots go to? His belly?”
Ava scrunched her face in disgust.
“Maybe it’s an illusion.” Agrip suggested. “Did you check if…no, never mind. That would be thoroughly disgusting.”
Yodah chuckled, having known what the old man had been about to say. Freya to touch maggots? She would rather die. A glare from Freya had him winking at her. Of course, she would understand.
“Agrip is right. Might be an illusion. But it still doesn’t explain the shift. Which mage would be capable of pulling that off? I had thought Queen Zipfarah to be the strongest there is.”
Yodah shook his head at Sheila’s statement. “Not at all Aunt. There are more wicked witches. We call them mages over there in the mountains. Sorcery you could never start to imagine. I think Legardo might have some ties with them. Although I am not sure how he had gotten them to work for him, how he had gotten the vampires to work for him too. There must be something that he is holding over them.”
“Yodah is right. I think we should find what it is that he holds over them. Then maybe, we can utilize that information for own good.” Anthony paused, and then looked at Clem. “I think this is where you may come in. Since, Leo has gone MIA, I think you should utilize the bond you share with Legardo’s daughter, Penny, or rather Diana.”
Clem folded his lips into his mouth, at a loss of what really to say. But he knew he had no choice. He had to do this for the good of the pack.
“You have to get this information from Diana. It might take some time breaking her walls, but you have to, while we work on other ways to prevent this deadly war, and also stop them from having Emma” Anthony surmised, tapping his foot on the floor, wondering if it was okay to add that he had a bad premonition about Emma.
He discounted it later. Obviously, his cousin wasn’t safe. They all knew that. It wouldn’t do his Aunt good if he accentuated it now. A step at a time.
“Since, that is settled. What do we do now? Are we really going to allow Emma to go through her shift alone? I know that you mentioned the credibility of the squirrel, Prescott.. but…”
Freya sighed, and touched Sheila’s palm. “Mom, I’ve seen Prescott in action. Emma would be fine. We will retrieve her the next day after the shift. I should be strong enough to make the journey.”
“But can’t we send someone? I don’t know, anyone to check on her?” Lucille inquired, not really trusting an animal to take care of her sister, even though the others think otherwise.
“None of us would be able to get there in time for her shift, except the ancients. The ancients aren’t here.” Shane pointed out, sharply turning toward Yodah when he saw Clem and the rest turn and look at the latter. The latter that was watching Eva scratch her hands.
“Eva, are you okay?” Yodah asked, having not heard or seen the reason why Shane and the rest were looking at him.
Eva nodded. “Just an allergy, I think.”
“Probably due to the expanse of magic yielded..” Agrip mentioned.
Yodah furrowed his eyebrows, and turned to Freya. The latter shrugged her shoulders, a question in her eyes.
Why are you interested in a five year old female?
“Yodah, do you think you can get to the states in time, before Emma shifts?” Sheila inquired, her palms plastered together as if ready to make a plea.
“I can do that, but I won’t. My father had asked me to stay here to add to the security of the pack should anything go wrong.”
Lucille opened her mouth to voice her opinion, but Yodah wasn’t done talking.
“It’s true that I didn’t know who or what Prescott was until a few days ago, but the squirrel is more than capable for the job. He had been the one to stop the Alferic beast, something we the ancients had struggled with…”
Sheila gasped now, putting Lucille in confusion. Does that statement alone verify the power of the squirrel?
“Well, If that is so, then I will let it go.” Sheila said, a bit more relaxed than before.
