“So, apart from the Leo, is there anyone that you think was a spy?”‘ Blenda asked, disrupting the murmur and tension in the hall.
She still didn’t understand this pack and their tendency to abandon or reject their mates, their second halves. Was it a curse or something? She wondered, staring at Derek to whom her question was directed to.
Derek was about to say no, when suddenly his mind remembered the guy that had been keenly watching around the pack and following the warriors during the period when Emma had been at Zipfarah’s place and they hadn’t been aware of it.
Blenda noticed his hesitation, just like the others did.
“Who is that?” She asked, hoping that it wasn’t another who had anadon his or her mate.
“They are actually two.” Derek answered. “Esther, and some other guy that kept behaving suspiciously around the pack.”
“Who is Esther?” Blenda asked, deciding to talk about the suspicious guy later.
“Esther is a witch whom we had met in school. She had come to find Emma at the cafe where she worked, because her aunt had gone missing.” Maya answered, before Derek could say something.
Sheila’s attention was activated again once she heard that Emma was involved.
What would a witch want with Emma? She thought as she sat upright, her ears attentive to what was going on, including the murmurs that had begun again.
“Why was she looking for Emma when her aunt went missing? Who is her aunt, and what is her relationship with Emma?” Blenda asked, seeing that everything revolved around the girl whom she was curious to see now. She never thought that she had been curious about any other thing before.
“Well, Esther had mentioned that her aunt had told her that she would be meeting with Emma on that day to talk about something. She also mentioned that they were supposed to leave after that day, when all of a sudden she had come back from school and had found the house scattered, and her aunt missing. We had found out later that Emma had been in communication with the woman for a while. Her name is Margo. Emma never got to tell us what she had spoken about with the woman.” Melvina answered this time round, a bit flustered when Sheila suddenly jerked up from her seat.
“Did you just say Margo?” Sheila asked, her eyes stuck on Melvina who just nodded her head.
“Do you know her?” Melvina asked.
“Of course. I am surprised you don’t. She is Tempest’s good friend. They were both magic partners. Ohh my god, it seems Leonarya had gotten to her too. But why is Leonarya doing this? Why would she do this to her family?” Sheila asked, muttering the last part to herself, unaware of the implications of her statement.
Melvina was stunned, just like the rest of the people in the hall.
“Family? What do you mean Sheila?” Melvina inquired, ignoring the fact that Margo had been Tempest’s friend and she had been unaware of it. Perhaps if she had known this, she would have acted differently. But they had kept it from her. Was it because she had no magic?
Sheila furrowed her eyes staring at her, then chuckled. “I don’t understand Melvina. Didn’t Tempest tell you about her family? Leonarya is her sister, and Zipfarah is their mother.”
Derek coughed, not understanding what he was hearing. So, the black witch was actually related to queen Zipfarah? Just when he thought he had seen enough family betrayal.
“But why? Why had she turned against her family?” Melvina asked, ignoring the pain in her heart at being left out by Tempest. She was sure that Margo had known of this, and probably would know the answer to this particular question she was asking now.
“I am not sure. When I left, they were still together. But there had been tension between them, because of Malone, Tempest’s fiance then. It seems Leonarya had liked the guy too. I don’t know if that had been the reason for the separation though .” Sheila stated, cocking her head to the side, unaware of the volcanic eruptions going up and out in Melvina’s mind.
“So you think Leonarya had captured Margo too, so that she could have access to Emma more easily?” Blenda asked, feeling her head overload from the amount of gist from the pack.
“Yes, I believe so. Tempest might have intimated Margo on who Emma really is. She might have told the latter to look for Emma and keep her safe. That’s the only explanation for this. Tempest had probably foreseen her death, and had no choice but to ask Margo for help.” Sheila said, best muttered to herself, a tear running down her cheek.
Her friends were gone because of her. She shouldn’t have left.

“Leonarya, you promised that we wouldn’t be discovered, that it was next to impossible. So how did it happen?” Arnold asked, not pleased that there was a glitch in the plan.
This could spoil a lot of things, since neither his son or daughter were on his side now. His mate was beginning to retreat from him too. She hasn’t slept with him since Curtis’ birthday party, as if she knew what he had done. Well, it can’t be helped.
“I don’t think that is the problem. Is there a solution to this?” Legardo asked, disregarding Arnold’s first comment since they came to see Leonarya.
“Well, Arnold , to answer your question; Only a witch very powerful could unravel the spell. And that would be Freya, although I thought she had left the pack for good. I don’t know how she had discovered the spy demons were in the painting though. Another option would be my mother. But I doubt that she would bother herself with the issues of the wolf pack. And Legardo, there isn’t a solution to this. I believe you two should leave. I need to think. When I come up with something, I will send you a message.” Leonarya answered calmly, sighing in relief when the two men nodded and stood up from their chairs and walked out of the room.
Well, until Legardo came back, or rather stopped by the door for a few minutes.
“What is it, Legardo?” she asked, knowing that he was waiting for Arnold to be out of hearing range.
“Nothing much. Just that you should be fast with your solution, or else you will receive the head of one of your children in a gold platter, in two days time.”
