CHAPTER 486: A LONG MEETING VIII

Blenda was aware that she was the object of everyone’s attention, but she didn’t waver from her just made comment. Rather, she looked straight at the leader of the pack whom she actually pitied for his wrong actions, more than detest.
She heard Dobah ask her through their private mindpath what the matter was, and why she was interested in the pack’s issues all of a sudden, most especially the painting.
“Since we are here, I believe we should get involved, especially as the girl who we are looking for is a mate to the next leader of the pack. I don’t think it was a coincidence. Everything happens for a reason. The fates must have a purpose why it had paired them both together. So, I suggest we help them in any way that we could, help them sort out their problems, so that when we get the girl back, there wouldn’t be much hassles. Yes, it is true that the girl might be angry about what had happened to her, but Dobah, we know from experience that mates can’t stay apart from each other for long. Well, I have read about the werewolfs, and I am sure that their bond is as strong as ours.”
“Ours is stronger actually.” Dobah commented, refusing to place the bond strength of his kind in the same vein with the werewolves.
Seeing as the boy hadn’t thought twice before sending his mate away, he believed that the bond strength of werewolves were weaker. How could he send Blenda away? His light? His future? His happiness? Well, he could understand the reason for their weak bond strength; they didn’t have any darkness like the male ancients did.
They didn’t have to fight everyday against turning into vampires. They didn’t know what it meant to always see the world in grey and always feel empty most of your life. So, yes, he could understand. He passed Blenda’s message to the others, aware that his brother, Kane had extended the message to his life mate, Lucille, whom he was sure was talking to her mother right about now.
That was okay. They were family now, one way or the other. But he was curious about Sheila, especially since one of the other twins, Julius, has been staring and contemplating on Sheila since they had met her. It wasn’t a stare of love-he was aware that the latter had found his lifemate, a werewolf too-it was rather a look of awe and finally.
If he didn’t know better, he was too sure that Julius might have known Sheila in the past. Once they were out of here though, he would ask the junior ancient about his knowledge of the woman who gave birth to three hybrids at the same time.
Peter looked at the communication both in mannerisms and words going on between the group of nine, (including Sheila and Lucille) , and wondered what was going on, if they were talking about what Blenda had just proposed.
And why would the woman want to see the painting?
No matter how hard he tried to wrap his head around it, he couldn’t understand her sudden fascination with the painting. He could see that she was still looking at him, they all were looking at him now, waiting for a reply.
Should he get the painting? Does he even have a choice?
“Shane, get the painting that Alpha Arnold had brought to the pack a few months ago for the peace pact. You remember where it is?” He asked his son’s gamma who nodded his head to his question, before getting up from his seat and walking quickly out of the hall.
“But why do you want the painting?” Peter asked, finally voicing the thought in his head.
“Well, from the explanations given here tonight, it is quite obvious that someone is spying on you. I wanted to confirm if it was a human that we should be looking for, or if the spy was attached to the painting. I don’t think it is a coincidence that your brother had brought the painting, just around the time that Emma had stepped into your pack. If I were to say, I would think that is much of a coincidence. It is also obvious that he is not working alone-he has some helpers, probably the black witch. Whilst we are on the subject of spies, have you discovered any spy yet, you know since Emma entered the pack?” Blenda concluded, then threw another question.
There was hesitation on Peter’s side to answer. Dobah read the inclination immediately and spoke.
“I don’t think it is to your advantage, alpha, that you keep things to yourself at this moment. No, not now. This matter is not just about you or your pack alone. It has developed into a world crisis. I don’t know if you had heard of the prophecy, but if you had, you would have known by now that the girl is in grave danger, and that any threat to her life is a threat to all of us, both humans and supernaturals alike. So, we are not interested in this case because we like your pack, far from it, we just want to make sure that what the prophecy had warned about doesn’t come to pass. So, don’t go tight lipped on us. We will continue this short partnership until we have found the girl. We can take her with us then and protect her ourselves, since obviously you lot are ill equipped.” Dobah surmised, getting up to his feet as he spoke.
“And what is the prophecy all about?” Derek asked, ignoring the latter part of Dobah’s statement where the ancient had mentioned that they would take over the protection of Emma. Of course, he wouldn’t let that happen. Emma was his, and nothing was going to come between them.
“She rejected you, remember?” That was Maru.
“Welcome back mr.” Derek mused, again performing the act of ignorance. But Maru wasn’t one to be ignored.
“I am not the ancient, and I don’t take it lightly to being ignored. She rejected us, which meant that she wants nothing to do with us.” Maru stated scornfully, obviously still annoyed at Derek’s incompetence.
“Yes, she might have. But you are forgetting something, Maru..” Derek said.
“And what is that?” Maru questioned.
“I didn’t accept her rejection, nor did I reject her back. Our connecting strands are still as strong as ever.” Derek replied.
“I hope for your sake that is true.” Maru muttered.
