“So, Derek… when are you going to see Emma?” Maya asked, returning to the most important topic on ground, decidedly crossing her legs on each other.
“Now.” Derek replied, dropping a smiling Eva on the spot next to him on the bed, before standing up. He strengthened his polo, inhaling deeply. This was it. He thought, putting his right hand in the right front pocket of the denim jeans he was wearing.
He looked around, taking in the expressions of those in the room with him and sighed. They were all wishing him goodluck, and believe that he would do this best on his own. But didnt they know that he needed back up, kind of. He almost scoffed at himself. He was acting liek a pussy now. An Alpha of a pack looking for back up to win back the love of his life? What a joke. He thought, giving a curt nod to the whole occupants of the room before walking towards the door. But just before he got to the door, the door was pushed open and his male friends came in. oh, what was the problem now again? He wondered, staring at them with a piqued eyebrow.
“Where are you going to?” Curtis asked Derek, taking note of the determined look on Derek’s face.
“I’m going to see Emma, and apologise. According to Maya and Ava, she would be leaving first thing tommorow morning.” Derek replied, inhaling deeply. No matter how he tried to act tough, he wished that one of his friends, Shane perhaps, would follow him on this journey of his.
“Well… about that…” Clem stuttered, knowing that this quest of Derek’s was quite reasonable and a must, but his father had called a meeting that Derek couldn’t miss at the moment.
“What’s wrong?” Derek asked, not letting Clem to finish, echoing the thoughts of the females in the room.
“Agrip is back… with a lot of news. He needs to see you. It is very important. He said.” Leo mentioned with a shrug. “So, i guess that you would have to see Emma later. She wouldn’t be leaving until tomorrow after all. There is still time.”
Anthony and Shane kept quiet, just looking on the conversations going before them, not hastening to contribute anything. Derek noticed this, and stuck his gaze on them, gesturing them to speak. Anthony was his big brother after all.
“Well… I don’t know bro. But if i was in your shoes, although i pray to God that i never fall into them, i would have seen my mate first. Agrip can wait. He is not going anywhere after this after all.” Anthony stated, and Shane nodded his head.
Derek cocked his head one side, taking in the advice if his brother and gamma. He liked it. He turned to his mother and the other girls in the room, their facial expresssions supported Anthony’s theory. Oh well, it seems that his little witch was coming first this time around. Oh well, did that make his wolf so happy? Damn so happy!
“Emma’s house it is first.” He said, about to ask Anthony about the duration of the meeting when the ex beta of the pack, Clem’s father, dropped a short knock on the door even though it was already open. The whole occupants of the room turned and stared at him, wondering what he was doing here, in Derek’s energy field.
“Your father seeks for your attention.” He stated without preamble, but that was after he had slightly bowed to Melvina as a sigh of greeting.
“You could tell him to wait for some minutes, that i have to go see someone. The person would be off our pack tommorow.” Derek mentioned, not wanting the old man to know of his activities at the moment, but Clem’s father shook his father, not letting Derek pass by him. With an outstretched hand, he stopped Derek on his steps. Clem widened his eyes, not understanding the audacity of his father. By all right, his old man should be bowing down to Derek for his friend was now the Alpha of the pack, not just some boy whom he could control his going out and coming in. teh tides were turned now. Levels were changed. Why hadnt his father taken that into consideration?
“I don’t think you understand, my Alpha…” Clem’s father started, letting his gaze wander to the occcupants of the room, allowing his gaze to rest on Melvina finally. The latter was already having an evil forebrooding crawling up her spine. But she jdidn’t want to assume anyting, duly waiting for her mate’s beta to spew out what he had to say.
“During the meeting we were having with Agrip, who Clem must have informed you is back from his long journey, your father suddenly slumped whilst he was addressing us. We managed to revive…” Clem’s father was still talking, when Melvina rushed out of the room, Maya and Eva was right at her heels.
“We managed to revive him, but he is seeking for your attention.” He completed, and Derek sighed deeply, nodded and began to walk down the well lit hallway toward the direction which his mother had just ran through. It seemed that his visit to Emma would have to wait, till evening.
Behind him, Anthony stood by his door, waiting till everyone had vacated the room, before locking it up to prevent any form of trespassing.
“Any news for me?” He asked Clem’s father who still stood at the same point, watching him.
“No, not at all.” The man replied, before turning around and walking away. Anthony furrowed his eyebrows as he watched the man walk away. For some reason, he was beginning to feel uncomfortable around the man, not that he had ever cherished him in the past though. But this time, it was different. A bad different.
