CHAPTER 417: PROMISE

Book:The Alpha's Addiction Published:2025-2-23

“Luna, did you know that Queen Zipfarah had told Emma that she was going to have her heart broken like never before if she was to come back here?” Maya asked out of the blues, citing the statement that had hung on her mind since Ava had mentioned it to her whilst they had been returning back to the pack house. It turned out that whilst Emma had been preparing at Ava’s house, she had unconsciously dropped the information while she had been talking about her experience at the witches’ community. And although she had tried to retract the statement, Ava had been fast enough to grasp the full meaning.
Melvina paused mid sentence. She had been about to voice out her discontent over Ava’s bashing of her son, because according to her, Derek didn’t need another round of bashing. He only needed rounds of encouraging words with ways on how to win Emma back.
“What did you say?” she asked Maya, after letting the girl’s earlier sink into her cerebrum.
“Emma had known that she would be heartbroken coming here to save Derek, but she had still defied the odds, including the orders of the good witch, and came down here. It is sad that we couldn’t stop it. She is very hurt. Personally, I don’t think that she would be forgiving Derek anytime soon, but still, I think that Derek should be off to her house right now. Whether or not she accepts him back, she deserves a huge apology accompanied with gifts.” Maya answered, exhaling deeply, her eyes landing and staying on Derek who looked no worse than Emma. Two hurting souls. God damn Leonarya. She cussed in her mind. Somehow, she knew that the rumor spreading had been done by the black witch, through her minions of course. And already she was deciding on ways to make her pay for hurting her family.
“Oh God… she hadn’t said so…” Melvina muttered the exact thought which was playing out on Derek’s mind. He couldn’t help but wonder why Emma hadn’t found it necessary to mention this important fact to him, even during the intimate moments they had shared.
“Would it have changed anything that has happened?” he heard his wolf ask and sighed. Probably not. The white witch hadn’t exactly been specific on the type of hurt, and so even if Emma had told him, he would have thought that it had meant physical hurt. But alas! It wasn’t. And worse, he was the ‘hurter’.
“You have to bring her back, brother.” Eva mentioned, resuming her dragging of Derek’s trousers, not really grasping the meaning behind Maya’s statement. How could she though? She was just five. But that didn’t stop her from stating her point out loud. She only knew that Emma needed to be back for the good of everybody. Her dream this morning had said so, and that had been part of the major reason why she had gone along with Ava and Maya to check on Emma. She hadn’t said it to anyone yet, seeing that all had been busy, either in deeds or in thoughts, to actually listen to her. She was waiting for night time when Melvina would tuck her into bed, to voice the content of the dream.
Derek bent until he was at the same eye level with his little sister. With a short smile on his face, he made her a promise which he was not sure he would be able to keep. It all depended on the manner of reception with which his little witch would receive him with.
“I will bring her back.” He said, before dropping a kiss on her forehead.
“Is there something else that we should know?” Melvina asked, noticing the exchange of glances that has been going on between Ava and Maya.
“Yes!” Eva shrieked, to the surprise of the occupants of the room, a huge smile slithering across her lips as her little shout died down.
Maya and Ava looked at each other, before returning their surprised gaze to her, wondering what other news she had to give.
“Is that so, Eva? Tell me then.” Melvina coaxed, a short smile on her lips.
“Ava has gotten herself a boyfriend! Isn’t that so cool? 1” Eva shouted dramatically, exuding happiness for the first time today.
Melvina smiled, turning her attention to Ava who had just turned beet red.
“Is that so, dear?” she asked, aware of Maya’s hidden smiles. She knew that her daughter was right, but she wasn’t actually sure about the identity of the mystery boyfriend. And shouldn’t the former be waiting for her mate? She thought, knowing the age of Ava, knowing that the girl hadn’t reached the particular age to mate. Or was she like her son?
“Yes Luna.” Ava replied bashfully. If possible, she had turned redder with every passing minute.
“Who is he then? Is he your mate?” Melvina asked, making sure to keep her tone light and free from accusatory dents. She could see from the twisting and untwisting of Ava’s fingers that the girl was nervous as hell concerning her current situation. She didn’t want to worsen that for her.
“Yes. his name is Julius. He is Aiden’s twin brother.” Ava replied, decidedly gluing her gaze to Melvina, wanting to see the expression of the Luna-that would determine if she should tell her parents of the development or not.
“That’s… interesting.” Melvina muttered, obviously stupefied. She couldn’t believe that Ava was mated with a vampire. Was that even possible? How could the goddess do such? Didn’t she know that Agrip wouldn’t be okay with this? Why mate the girl to a creature of more than a thousand years of age?
“Are you sure he is the one?” She asked, not entirely believing the whole story. For all she knew, the man had compelled Ava’s feelings towards him. And worse, vampires don’t really have souls and their hearts were blackened with hate and fury. So, how is it possible that one of them should be a mate to one of her favorite people?
