Derek paced from one corner in his room to the other after he had returned there alone, without the company of Leo and Shane. He had dismissed the two after their advises about his little witch, citing the excuse that he wanted to be alone. Of course they had heeded to his request, he was the Alpha after all.
His mind was consumed with thoughts about Emma, more specifically the incidence that had occured last night, the way he had publicly humiliated her in front of his pack people, in front of other people from diverse packs. He couldn’t believe that he had had the mind to reject her in front of them all. He had fallen a victim to his pride and foolishness. And now, he had to pay the price in the worst way possible; being viewed in contempt by his mate. He didn’t think she would forgivr him. He wouldn’t blame her if she didn’t forgive him. He wouldn’t forgive himself if he was in her shoes.
“What the hell was i thinking?” he asked himself out aloud, stopping in his tracks. He still didn’t beleve that he had even called her a slut. What the hell! He had really outdone himself this time around. She would be an angel to forgive him. But first, he had to visit her. He had to see her, and try to explain what had happened, what was really on. Since she already knew of his origin and kind, there was no need hiding any other fact from her.
A smile slithered across his lips unconsciously as he remembered their short discussion after the first bout of sex they had had whilst the others had been cleaning up the big festivity hall. She had been so understanding, so beautiful.
Derek soughed, trudging to the nearest wall to him. He rested his back on it, not bothering to wipe off the lone tear that had trailed succcessfully from his eyes down through a narrow path on his left cheek. His heart was hurting. He could also feel Maru’s loss. His other half was as sad as he was, pining strongly for the touch of their mate. Remembering their night of so many passions had not really helped his cause. Now, he could already feel his member straining against the confines of his denim jeans. He needed her. This was so bad. If he didn’t get to her anytime soon, he would have to remain the saint. No other woman could move him after all.
“I thought by now you would be on your way to see Emma.” He heard a voice say and sighed. His mother was beginning to sound like Shane and Leo.
“You know standing here and beating yourself up is not really the right way to go about this. You should go to her and explain. I have a feeling that she would understand much better than you think. And although she might have a hard time forgiving you for your terrible misconduct last night, humiliating her that way, i believe an explanation would keep her from travelling. And even if she travels, it will keep her from not returning. Son, you need to let her know.” Melvina stated, and Derek sighed again. He knew his mother was right. He was just afraid. Maya had to be back first. He thought. He needed to get some information from her first before taking a step.
“Derek…” Melvina called, stepping closer to her son, understnaging the berefet feeling that was plaguing him at the moment. It remeinded her of the period when her mate, Alpha Peter, had been cautioned by his father not to bother going ahead with her, considering her place as a werewolf. For that stretch of time when she had not seen him, she had felt like she had lost a part of her. And so, she could understand her son’s plight, but also knowing that it would worse for him because he had caused the seperation himself.
Derek turned aside to glance at his mother, and seeing the raw concern in her eyes did it for him. He broke down in tears, sliding down to the floor, letting out his emotions for the first time since last night. The tears seemed to have an increase button when he felt his mother hug him to herself, rocking him gently while humming a melody. At that moment, he didn’t care he had just been crowned Alpha some hours ago. At that moment he could only think that he was his mother’s son first, before an Alpha. He needed her comfort now. His Alpha duties could come later.

“Did you do it?” Tempest asked her friend, Ketura. She was sitting on a rocky chair, going through a spells book, when the latter had stepped into the sitting room looking like she carried the weight of the world on her shoulders.
“Yes.” Ketura replied, dumping her tired body on one of the sofa’s in the room.
“Good. Let’s just hope that she would take the bait. Even though my sister claims to be so iron willed, i am sure that she still had that side of her, little as it may, which longed to be the mommy’s daughter. Let’s just hope that side hasn’t been quietened by her verocious wicked acts. The success of our next plan depends on that.” Tempest stated, placing the book on the table, whilst trailing her eyes all over her friend. The latter looked so tired. Had something happen?
“What is wrong? You look… so worn out. Did you run? Did anyone see you?” She asked.
Ketura shook her head. ” No, no one saw me. It’s just…” Ketura was saying, then paused, cocking her head one side, probably unssure if this piece of information would actually be necessary. She didn’t think her friend needed to be concerned about the fact that her curiosity had almost revealed her identity to the phantom which her cousin usually kept around her.
“It’s just what?” Tempest asked, her curiosity spiking by the passing minute.
“I think your sister has our close friend and ally in custody.” Ketura replied in summary. The gory details were not necessary to mention.
