CHAPTER 368: EMMA’S DECISION

Book:The Alpha's Addiction Published:2025-2-23

Immediately Emma stepped out of the big hall, she fell to the ground on her knees, right outside there under the visibility of the full moon, and began to weep. Her palms on the ground too supporting her frame, she cried, cursing whatever fate had befallen the way.
When she felt Prescott’s hairy tail on her right hand, she sniffed in and turned, sitting down on the floor in her gown.
In Front of her were Aiden, Yodah, Julius, Freya, Ava and Maya. Prescott was right beside her.
They all had pitiful faces on.
She didn’t like that.
She had never liked to be pitied, but right at this moment, she couldn’t help but not care. Her heart was thoroughly broken. She felt like dying.
“You are not dying, at least not yet.” Prescott said to her telepathically, and she twerked her nose with her index finger and thumb, curbing the catarrh that was incoming. She wasn’t in the mood to be plagued by a running nose.
But Prescott was right. Her time to die hadn’t come yet. At least she had to ensure revenge against Derek first. He had hurt her. She would make sure he feels the same, more than he was feeling now.
Yes, somehow she knew that he had been lying, that he had been speaking jargon, but it had still hurt so much. She won’t forgive him, not easily, mate or not.
But first, she had to leave here. She had to go home.
That thought concluded in her mind, she tried standing up from the ground unconcerned about the looks on the faces of the eight persons in front of her. They had been surprised, and a bit worried when she had sat fully on the ground. She was sure that they had thought that she was going insane.
Yodah helped her up, seeing that her gown was stuck in a stubborn grass.
“Thank you.” She muttered, staring at him.
She couldn’t understand why such a handsome fellow would survive on human blood.
‘It wasn’t their fault though. They didn’t make the choice of becoming who they were now. They were born that way.’ her mind supplied, and she nodded absentmindedly, disengaging her hand from his.
Yodah nodded, “You are welcome.’ before stepping back into the fold of his family.
Standing straight, Emma allowed her eyes to cut across the eight. She furrowed her eyebrows when she saw Maya and Ava. Shouldn’t they be inside? After all, they are werewolves too. She wondered if they had known about Derek’s denial. She didn’t think so.
“You guys should be inside. I’m fine, or rather I will be fine. I have Prescott with me.” She said, directing her statements to Ava and Maya.
“True. I’m sorry about Derek. I hadn’t known about this matter.” Maya stated, stepping closer to Emma. and dropping her right hand on Emma’s left shoulder.
“That’s okay.” Emma muttered, her tears threatening to fall out again when Maya engulfed her in a hug.
They both knew that she wouldn’t be staying here any longer, perhaps, even for school.
“Where will you be going?” Maya asked, disengaging from the hug.
“Home.. I will think about my next step from there on.” Emma replied, sniffing in. She directed her gaze at Freya the next minute.
“Do you think my sister would be home?” She asked.
“Yeah. She had mentioned about stopping by the house. She had also talked about surprising you with a visit since you wouldn’t call her.” Freya replied, with a shrug, meeting Emma’s gaze.
That’s better then. Emma thought. She needed someone to talk with, someone to offload her problems with. Her sister, Amelia, was the right candidate. She only hoped that the latter wouldn’t freak out when she knew that she had powers, because she wasn’t planning to hide anything from her sister. All. She would say all.
“Okay, then. I will be going home to stay for a while. I will see you guys when I see you again.” She stated, and they all nodded, including Aiden and his brother, Julius.
Ava sniffed in , then stepped closer to Emma, engulfing her in a hug the next minute.
” I will miss you.” She said, and Emma said the same, tightening her grip around Ava’s back. Maya joined the hug, whilst Frwya looked on, not knowing if it would be okay, if Emma would find it okay if she hugged her.
On a last thought, she decided to stay back. There was still a lot of time for research and the whole lot of them. If they were sisters, they would bond soon.
When the trio broke up the high, Emma cast a meaning gaze at Freya, then spread open her arms. For She didn’t know when she would see the latter again.
Immediately, Freya walked into her arms, and they hugged like two lost sisters.
“I will find you.” Freya promised, and Emma frowned, wondering what the statement meant.
“You don’t need to.” She finally replied, after a short silence.
“I want to. I will find you, and I will bring mother along.” Freya promised, and Emma shook her head, disengaging herself from the hug.
“I don’t think we have one.” She said, before stepping back with Prescott. The latter had never left her side, after all, that was Queen Zipfara’s order.
Freya was mute at Emma’s statement, not knowing what to say.
She stood still, watching tear-eyed as Emma turned and walked away with Prescott. She would miss the sister she never thought she had, the sister she wasn’t sure she even has, the girl whom she hadn’t had a private second with.
So, when she saw Emma stopping on her tracks, and turning back to look at them again, her heart beat increased, at a pace faster than usual. She wished that Emma wouldn’t go anywhere but stay with them at Aiden’s place.
But that wasn’t the case. Rather Emma had asked for another favor.
“Could you follow me to my house here? The last time I had been there, it has been surronded by witches and wizards. I feel that it still isn’t safe now.” Emma said, and Aiden nodded.
“Of course, we would follow you.” He replied, gesturing to the others to walk with him.
Maya and Ava watched them go, feeling at crossroads.
For although they wanted to go with them, and see off Emma for the last time, their party was ongoing, and it would be weird to leave it and go after Emma.
Worse was Ava. Seeing Julius walk away, even though he had promised to be back for her that night, left a sour taste in her mouth and heart. She didn’t want anything happening to him. Already, she felt attached to him, a feeling that she wasn’t really proud of, for she was anxious about what her parents and her grandfather would say.
She didn’t think they would be too pleased with her dating a vampire, even if it is a fate commissioned by the moon goddess. But wouldn’t this lead to an outbreak of hybrids? What would happen to her wolf? Would she lose her to his magic? What about him? Would he lose himself to her?
All these questions plagued her as she and Maya strolled wordlessly back into the big hall, unaware of Esther who had been watching the whole show from a hidden corner.
**
Julius had agreed to stay with Aiden at his place, including Yodah who had agreed with Freya to attend the Lakers university so that they would be kept abreast of issues surrounding the pack and their kind. They all agreed to visit Emma whenever she needed their help.
Emma was grateful for their companionship, even though she didn’t express her uncomfortability about the fact that they were vampires. She didn’t want to hurt their feelings. So, she forced herself to think of them as the good vampires, even as they got closer to her house.
As they strolled past the house of her nearest neighbor, the middle aged man who usually split woods in the early mornings, someone whom Derek had told her had lost his wife (mate) during an accident, she thought of the times whereby Derek had picked her up for school, and a lone tear dropped from her eyes.
Memories upon Memories strolled into her mind after that. Their first make out in his car, the second in the forest, after they had reconciled their differences which had resulted from his unconscious actions at Cassie’s party, and their first sex. He had been her first.
“You should try to stop thinking about him.” She heard Prescott say, and sighed. Easier said than done. How could she stop? His scent was still over her.
When they got to her house, the first thing that they noticed was that her door was wide open.
Quickly they came to a stop.
Emma bit her lips, aware that they were not alone. For some reason, she was sure that they were surrounded, but she wasn’t afraid. The vampires were with her. Prescott too. And she wasn’t powerless either.
She actually pitied those who had thought it wise to approach her now, in this current situation of hers. She would make sure that none of them left here alive.
