Casper was aware that a greater force, or rather a greater being had arrived; for the fact that the other had been able to fix him at one point, had made him unable to make even the tiniest of motion, was a startling indication of that point. He knew that wisdom demanded that he bow his head in shame and leave with his companions, knowing that the latter was a creature of the night, a vampire, but he was afraid of his queen. The woman was ruthless and didn’t accept failures into the community.
She may pardon him for his good powers, but what about the other guys with him?
Some were still with families, most had girlfriends; it would be brutal to leave Emma with the vampire, without even trying. But how had she come to know the vampires? Did she even know who they were? If she did, she had changed, his Emma had changed. He thought, remembering that the queen had mentioned a wolf boy that she was now mated with. Was the guy more handsome than he was? Was he more funny? Mate bonds were strong, the little he had heard from them, but how had she come to England in the first place? A lot of questions like this but no answers to go with them. He wanted to hear the full details of the story from her, not satisfied with the snippets that his queen and Kyran had bestowed on them; but he knew he couldn’t. Their bond was broken and he had a master to serve, a mission to conquer. He couldn’t afford to snooze and lose. Even if the die was cast, he had to try.
“Where do you think you are going?” He asked Julius, wincing unconsciously as the latter scoffed. Why won’t he? He thought, swallowing his saliva, whilst attempting to be brave. He still hadn’t devised a means to break out of his transfixed state and he was trying to wage war with a vampire. Way to go, Casper!
“You should try stepping out of the haze, before moving forward to contend with me. Trust me boy, you are no match for me.” Julian mentioned, before letting his palm land graciously on Ava’s arm, his dark eyes peering deeply into her brown ones. He felt her shudder under his touch, and a gentle smile appeared on his face.
“Let’s be going. He wouldn’t be bothering us if he had enough sense.” He said, gesturing to Emma with his eyes to lead the way.
But she stood there, staring at him with furrowed brows.
What was her problem? He thought, returning her gaze.
He tried penetrating her mind, checking to see if he could do what his brother hadn’t been able to do(for Aiden had told him everything about the redhead-the strange and normal things about her.).
He winced, although not letting it show outwardly, when he hit a hard wall, and a force pushed him off, that his hold on Ava’s arm loosened and fell away.
What the hell! He thought. This hasn’t happened to him before.
“What is the problem?” He heard Aiden ask, and sighed. His twin must have felt the energy through the mind path.
“It’s Emma. I tried reading her mind and a force bounced me off that I had almost fallen over, if not for speed and stance.” He replied, not surprised when his twin shrugged, like he had been expecting it.
“You shouldn’t have, Julian. Now, she might have a hard time trusting you.” Aiden stated tiredly.
And true to his twin’s words, Julian keenly noted that the redhead was now glaring at him.
She had caught him!
“Ehrrm…” He started, stuttering for the first time in more many years that he could count, surprising himself.
Was this an effect of finding one’s mate, feeling emotions?
Well, if it was, it was really a small price to pay.
He could stutter all day long if it would guarantee him having Ava in his arms. Seeing her, he already felt ‘unlonely’. She did that to him; made him belong.
Currently, she was staring between him and Emma.
“What is the problem between you two?” She asked, and Emma hissed.
“Ask your crush.” Emma replied, causing Ava’s cheeks to taint red. She was blushing.
“Oh, look, now she is blushing…” She added, and Ava shyly bent her down, obviously embarrassed, a bit annoyed, not at Emma, but at herself for acting so mushy around the vampire. Yes, she knew what he was. A vampire. She could tell by his scent. She should be repulsed by his presence, mildly tolerating his interference, rather she was doing the complete opposite.
If anything, she wanted to sink her fingers deep into his midnight black hair, she wanted to stain his lips with her deep red lipstick. His lips were so full and firm that she wondered if it had been carved out from stone. So sharp, and beautiful. And then, she wanted to feel his fangs on her neck. The thought caused a shrilling sweet pleasure down her spine much to her shock. How did this happen? The vampire must have placed her under some kind of compulsion. She thought, biting her lips.
Julian smiled, watching his lifemate fuss over her confused and jumbled feelings. Tentatively, he reached for her thoughts, forgetting Emma’s annoyed face for a minute. Thereafter he bit his lips to withstand the outpour of a grown when he found out that she was having naughty thoughts about him, especially his lips. He needed to be alone with her.
“Quit reading her mind!” He heard Emma shout, and nervously(a first time feeling, afraid that his lifemate would be annoyed with him for reading her mind without her permission and so, stay away from him) shifted his gaze to Emma. Surprisingly, her mouth was shut. But her eyes weren’t. If eyes could shoot daggers, he would have been coated with a whole lot of them.
“You have no right to do that. That’s disrespectful.” He heard her say and furrowed his eyebrows, noticing that her mouth was not moving.
How did she do that? He thought, knowing that Aiden had heard her too. His next statement confirmed that.
