Chapter 579: Georgia’s Collapse

“Have you forgotten who raised you? Have you forgotten who your mother is?”
The scene shocked everyone present. No one expected Scarlett to suddenly lash out.
Georgia rushed forward anxiously and asked, “Leah, are you alright?”
Leah didn’t respond. She didn’t cry either. She simply brushed her hair back and looked at Scarlett with utter despair. At this point, she didn’t mind severing ties with the family. Her faith in Kayden was unwavering; she believed in him completely.
Kayden might have been prideful at times, but he was a good man-a truly good man.
Leah took two steps back, distancing herself from Scarlett. Staring at her, she said, “You care about money. You care about appearances. But you’ve never cared about my sister’s feelings! You’ve never cared about her happiness.”
The words hit Scarlett like a dagger, leaving her fuming with rage.
“Have you ever considered this? What if that so-called butler was sent by the Falcon family? Wouldn’t that make them even more dangerous? They’ve been scheming relentlessly to get close to my sister. Who knows what their true intentions are?”
These words struck a nerve with the Falcon family. While they hadn’t sent the butler, their scheming wasn’t far from the truth.
Leah continued, “My sister is divorced, and he’s never been married. He gave her so much money-do you think that’s normal? Mom, you’ve got your head buried in a pile of cash. I think they’re just manipulating you, trying every underhanded trick to win my sister over. Even if it’s for love, it’s despicable.”
The older members of the Falcon family winced at the accusation. Georgia quickly intervened, saying, “Enough, Leah. Stop talking.”
To Georgia, Luther was still the same straightforward man who had helped her in the past, even at great personal cost. She hadn’t thought too deeply about the situation, let alone seen through it like Leah had.
But Leah wasn’t done.
Scarlett snapped at her, “Shut up!”
Scarlett was furious. Pointing to the door, her face darkened as she shouted, “Go home! Get out of here now! I’ll deal with you later.”
Leah ignored Scarlett entirely, not even sparing her a glance. Instead, she walked straight to Georgia, grasped her hand, and spoke with the clarity of an outsider observing the chaos.
“I think you should trust Kayden! I don’t understand why you don’t believe in him. He’s such a good person-why would you let others twist the truth and turn you against him?”
“Have you thought about it? While he was in this house, how many times did Mom question him? How many times did she trample all over him? And yet, he never fought back. He treated you, Mom, me-our entire family-with nothing but kindness. Do you even know what he does outside of this house? He’s killed people! Not just once-he’s killed often! Recently, he even killed a deranged teacher at our school. Someone like that, who can endure being insulted by a useless middle-aged woman-why do you think he put up with it?”
“It’s because of love! Because he loves you.”
“You never told him anything. He probably still doesn’t understand why you divorced him or why you’re marrying someone else. He has no idea what he did wrong. Isn’t that cruel?”
“He’s a person-a person who has been protecting you all along. Why can’t you give him a little trust? Why can you worry about everyone else’s feelings but completely ignore his?”
Leah’s words were filled with conviction. Despite her youth and innocence, she had a clear understanding of the world.
“Love is built on mutual trust. I know I’m young and have been influenced by too many cheesy dramas. But I’m certain Kayden isn’t the kind of person who forgets kindness or betrays trust. I can see it in his eyes-he loves you.”
“I think you’ve just let something cloud your judgment. Deep down, you know Kayden loves you. I trust Kayden, and I will only ever trust Kayden!”
Slap!
Scarlett couldn’t hold back any longer. She stormed forward, grabbed Leah, and slapped her hard across the face.
Leah raised her head defiantly. Scarlett pointed at her, shouting, “If you keep this up, I’ll disown you. Do you hear me? I’ll disown you!”
Leah looked at Scarlett with pure disappointment and said, “Then disown me. A family like this isn’t worth staying in! I wouldn’t be surprised if you tried to sell me off to some billionaire old man in the future.”
With that, Leah stormed out. At that moment, she felt nothing but sadness and pity for Kayden.
“This child is going to be the death of me!” Scarlett was so angry she was nearly spitting blood.
Leah was gone, but Georgia’s heart was in turmoil. Leah’s words were like a stone thrown into a calm lake, creating ripples that refused to settle.
From the beginning, she had never heard Kayden’s side of the story.
Over the past few days, she had been consumed by her own thoughts, completely convinced by the old man’s words. In her mind, she had already accepted his version of events. So when she saw Kayden again, she hadn’t even given him a chance to explain.
But as Leah’s words echoed in her mind, Georgia began to doubt herself.
What if Kayden truly knew nothing? What if everything was orchestrated by the Falcon family? Had she fallen into their trap?
The most pitiful person in all of this was Kayden. He had been forced to sign the divorce papers without even knowing why.
Oh, God!
If this was true, could she ever make amends for the damage she had done to Kayden?
As Georgia wrestled with her thoughts, a black Mercedes-Benz pulled up outside.
Several men in suits stepped out, followed by an elderly man who looked anxious and distressed.
It was Billy, the butler of the Scott family.
Billy had come to see Georgia after learning about her engagement. But there was an even more pressing reason-Kayden was about to be dismissed from his position.
Upon hearing this news, Billy had rushed from Jinling to Hiphia, desperate to stop a disaster from unfolding.
As Billy stepped out of the car, he called out urgently, “Madam, I cannot allow you to go through with this engagement! I lied to you before. The truth is, the young master never married the Whitley family’s daughter. It was his cousin who married her.”
Boom!
This revelation hit like a thunderclap.
Georgia’s already fragile emotional state crumbled completely.
