The voice that spoke wasn’t from anyone else-it was Georgia herself.
Hearing this, the Falcon family members were stunned into silence. All eyes turned to Georgia, staring at her as if she were a rare animal in a zoo.
“Georgia, what did you just say?” The old lady’s stiff expression slowly softened.
Georgia shook her head and said, “This is too valuable. I can’t accept it!”
She almost lost control but had no choice but to endure further.
The golden phoenix jade bracelet was the Falcon family’s heirloom. Owning this bracelet meant taking charge of the entire Falcon family’s household affairs. The so-called “household” referred to the women of the Falcon family. With such a sprawling and extended family, there were dozens of descendants, requiring a woman in charge.
The old lady was currently the family’s matriarch, and the women standing behind her were all Falcon family members.
With a chuckle, the old lady said, “I like this girl. Even though we’ve only just met, I knew the moment I saw her-she is the one I’ve been waiting for.”
“Grandma, you’re obviously biased toward Luther. If it wasn’t for him, would you really pass this on to his wife? Still, it’s enviable. This thing is so precious, and yet you’re willing to give it away.”
The scene left the onlookers envious.
Their intentions were clear-they wanted to bind Georgia to the Falcon family so that she’d have no chance to back out. Of course, all of this had been planned.
The bracelet belonged to the old woman, so she could gift it as she pleased. But she could also take it back whenever she wanted.
Once Georgia entered the Falcon family, regardless of what happened, she would have no choice but to follow their arrangements. This warmth and generosity, paired with the family’s well-coordinated performance, were all for Luther’s future and the Falcon family’s prosperity.
If they joined Elysium Gate, it would mean the Falcon family would secure its protection, gain more business opportunities, and potentially rise to the ranks of the capital’s elite families.
If it weren’t for the rules from above, how could the Falcon family allow such an exceptional son to marry a divorced woman?
Now, the family was putting on an act of welcoming Georgia wholeheartedly, showering her with flattery and kindness. Their goal was to make her feel too guilty to reject Luther and too embarrassed not to marry him.
To be fair, the Falcon family’s ability to stage such a united front was Oscar-worthy.
“Georgia, just take it! Don’t overthink it,” Marie urged, standing to the side.
She continued, “Let me tell you, Georgia, once you accept this, you’ll be in charge of all the big and small matters in our family. We may not be ordinary, but we’re no small household either. Managing us isn’t easy, and Grandma’s trust in you says everything. Even we couldn’t dream of such an honor!”
Georgia stared at the old lady before her, who was full of kindness, and shook her head.
“I’m sorry, Grandma. I can’t accept something so valuable. It’s far too precious, and I’m not the right person to take it.”
After all, she couldn’t forget this was a fake engagement. No matter what the Falcon family did, it was all part of the charade.
When Georgia refused, the entire Falcon family was left stunned. This was something so many people dreamed of, yet she had the audacity to decline. How could they believe it?
“Take it. This is a gift from me, and no one else is entitled to it,” the old lady said stubbornly, pushing the bracelet forward.
Georgia shook her head again. “No, Grandma, I really can’t accept it. I’m not suitable to take it.”
Hearing this, the old lady’s expression darkened. Her voice grew sharp as she asked, “Not suitable? Can’t accept it? What does that mean? Are you and Luther not truly together? Could it be-this engagement is fake?”
Her words hit the mark.
Luther quickly jumped in. “Of course not, Grandma! How could it be a fake engagement? Georgia is just overwhelmed by how valuable the gift is. Please don’t push her.”
“Push? What’s there to push for? Valuable or not, I’m the one in charge here. If I say it’s hers, then it’s hers. I like Georgia, and I believe she’s qualified to inherit my position. Who dares to object? A woman who can manage a billion-dollar company surely can manage a household.”
Her tone was firm, revealing she had done her homework on Georgia.
“What’s going on here?” Scarlett arrived, drawn by the commotion.
“Scarlett, this is Luther’s grandmother. She wants to give the bracelet to Georgia so she can manage the family, but Georgia keeps refusing. Now Grandma’s upset,” Marie explained quickly.
Hearing this, Scarlett’s gaze fell on the bracelet, her face filled with shock.
“What? Grandma wants Georgia to take charge?”
“That’s right,” the old lady nodded enthusiastically.
“Georgia, take it! Why aren’t you accepting it? Once you do, you’ll be the one in charge of the Falcon family. Look how good Grandma is to you. How can you be so clueless?” Scarlett scolded, her voice rising.
Georgia looked at Scarlett with resentment. She knew her mother was deliberately making a spectacle of this fake engagement, trying to turn it into something real.
She had never imagined her own mother would manipulate her marriage and future like this.
“Georgia, take it! If you don’t, you’re being ungrateful. Can’t you see how much the Falcon family values you? Luther is so outstanding, and they’re treating you this way. You’re lucky! Any woman would laugh for a lifetime with such a family. Don’t forget you’re divorced!” Scarlett hissed in a low voice.
Still, Georgia refused to accept it.
At that moment, Luther stepped forward and took the bracelet himself.
“Grandma, how about I hold onto it for now? Georgia is just surprised and needs time to process it,” Luther said to the old lady.
The old lady reluctantly agreed, shaking her head with a sigh as she turned and walked away.
Georgia was about to say something to Scarlett when someone called her over. She quickly walked away, clearly overwhelmed by everything happening.
“Georgia, I’m so sorry. I didn’t expect my grandmother to do that. I hope it didn’t scare you,” Luther said awkwardly.
Georgia shook her head lightly. “It’s fine.”
“Don’t worry. I’ll explain everything to her. They all believe this engagement is real. Grandma even gave you something so precious-this is madness. They’re going too far.”
Georgia looked at Luther, swallowing hard before saying, “I’m sorry, Luther. This is all my fault. If it weren’t for me, none of this would’ve happened.”
“What are you saying? This is my choice. It’s clear my family likes you a lot. It’s just… we weren’t meant to be. Maybe it’s because I’m not good enough,” Luther said, his voice tinged with regret.
His words deepened Georgia’s guilt.
“Alright, let’s get started. The engagement ceremony is about to begin!” Hugh called out loudly.
Luther lowered his head and softly said to Georgia, “Let’s begin.”
He reached out his hand to her.
Georgia hesitated for a moment, but eventually, she lifted her hand and placed it in his.
Just then, a roar came from the doorway.
“Stop!”
