ANNABELLA’S POV
I was disappointed when I found out we weren’t going to spend the day together, but after he left, I thought of it and decided to go to his office because I thought he might be busy with work and pack duty.
I could already imagine the look on his face once he saw me. I dropped my bag on the bed but suddenly had a second thought. What if he wasn’t at the office and he had gone to a meeting?
I doubt Roman would leave the pack without telling me, but it could be an emergency.
I bit on my lip and sat back on the bed. For all I knew, he wouldn’t send me away once he saw me.
Staying in the house during school hours seems to be the most boring thing to do. ‘ You should make yourself busy.’ Eve suggested, and I thought she was right; maybe it wouldn’t be boring after all.
I headed downstairs and switched on the television. There were a lot of channels, and since I wasn’t the movie type, I didn’t know which one to choose.
I switched from one channel to the other until I found myself something to keep me in my seat for the day but it wasn’t enough to get my mind off him.
I didn’t realize how long I slept, but when I woke up, it was already midday. I sighed when I realized I was alone in the house, with no sign of Roman.
Madeline has been gone for hours as well.
I blew out air from my mouth before pushing up from the couch, my left hand rubbing my eyes. I walked up to the kitchen and grabbed a bowl of cookies and a glass of milk to go with it.
I have always believed I wasn’t a fan of TV, but I guess that was a lie because I was currently enjoying the best day of my life. The couples in the drama were inseparable and their chemistry was real. I loved the FL, her calm vibe, and her fierce personality. ” Come on Dora.” I urged as I watched the other woman try to fight with her over her lover.
I stuffed a number of cookies in my mouth before grabbing the almost-finished milk to take a sip, and I ended up sipping everything from the glass.
I growled as I went for another glass and resumed back on the couch. I was so immersed in the movie that I didn’t catch the time or what was happening around me. The writer did a great job with the writing and the actors brought the script to life if you ask me. I wasn’t getting off the couch soon, the movie was something worth spending the entire day on.
I remained glued to my seat the entire day with this great movie playing on the TV before me. I never meant to leave my spot, but then, when the movie came to an end, I decided to go find Roman.
I assumed he might be busy in his office buried in those files just like my father usually did.
It was evening, and the pack was back to its normal, lively self. The streets were never empty and the atmosphere was always peaceful. I walked a few minutes from the main pack house to where his office was located and I was a bit disappointed when I didn’t find him there.
I asked the two warriors, and they told me he had left in the morning and hadn’t returned. That was weird because he was with me before he left for an emergency. Could he have gone out of the pack?
Would that mean he wouldn’t be back soon?
I didn’t know what to think, but I decided to wait for him for a while, and when he didn’t show up, I thought I should leave. It was possible he would go looking for me back in the house.
I was about to leave his office when Vincent suddenly strode in.
” Bella?”
” Hi!” I felt a bit awkward, and that was because the air between me and him has always been thick, but I spoke anyway; the bag in his hand didn’t go unnoticed as my gaze blushed against it.” I was about to leave.” I explained.
” I don’t think that is necessary. He knows you are here, and he will be with you shortly,” he said, and I raised a brow, wondering how forgetting he has a bunch of men out there guarding the pack like a hawk.
There was silence between us afterward until he handed me the bag in his hand, asking me to put it on Roman’s desk, but my hand accidentally touched his, and his current memories became evident like an open book. I suddenly gained access to his memory and I saw R.. Roman and….. Juliet?
It was Roman and Juliet in the mansion and she was wishing him a happy birthday with excitement all over her face.
I pulled my hand away and immediately stepped back, almost trembling on my feet.
” Are you okay?” Vincent asked but I was already walking out of the office. It was Roman’s birthday and he was celebrating it with Juliet!
Did he leave me all alone to go be with her?
Why was I feeling this way, Juliet wasn’t some sort of a stranger, was she? She was his step sister and maybe that was why I was feeling this way.
” Bella.” I didn’t sense him and maybe it was because I was occupied and bumped into him. ” Are you alright?” His hands held my shoulders, and I felt tears in my eyes when my eyes met his; my chest suddenly tightened as I gazed into his dark blue eyes.
A part of me wanted to hang him and yell at him for refusing to spend the day with me because of Juliet.
He lied to me!
Without a word, I pushed his hand away and ran out of his office with tears threatening to break down.
I didn’t know how I got back to the house, but I immediately went into the bedroom, locked the door, and buried myself under the sheet.
I couldn’t believe this was happening, why did he have to lie to me? He could have told me he was going to see Juliet, and I wouldn’t stop him, but instead, he lied to me, or she was the important thing he claimed he had to take care of.
Why was I upset over him spending time with his sister? Was I supposed to celebrate his birthday with both him and Juliet?
I guess it would have been the case if he had told me that it was his birthday. Did he want alone time with Juliet that he didn’t tell me anything about today being his birthday?
Was I overthinking it?
I didn’t know anymore but I knew I didn’t like Juliet since the first day we met.
I have always felt she was hiding something or, better still, she wasn’t who we thought she was. Something about her present made me uncomfortable and I didn’t know why.
I didn’t know when I slept off, but when I woke up, I felt the familiar scent wrapped around me with his strong, cozy-era surroundings.
I turned on my side and came face to face with him. He was sleeping, his breath coming out lightly.
His hand rested on my waist as I ran my eyes on his handsome face.
My hand moved on its own to take care of the strand on his forehead, but I immediately decided against it when I recalled Vincent’s memory.
Juliet was wishing him a happy birthday. I swallowed hard and was about to pull my hand back when he suddenly grabbed it, his eyes flipped open.
” Are you scared to touch me?” his derp grumpy voice asked as I gazed back into his eyes.
