This was happening on his own cruise ship. If Skylar died here, it would reflect badly on his entire family.
The business world was ruthless. He couldn’t trust anyone.
People might seem friendly, but they would use any chance to climb over him.
His grandfather, who liked Skylar, would be especially heartbroken if something happened to her.
Dave’s mind was full of conflicting thoughts.
Then, Skylar gave him an ultimatum. “Dave, I’ll ask you one last time. Do you agree or not?”
It seemed like Skylar had completely lost her sense of reason, focusing only on one thought.
At this point, she wouldn’t let Dave go easily, even if it meant losing her own life.
Her despair grew even stronger when Dave stayed silent for a long time.
She laughed bitterly, the sound sharp and cold in the dark night. “What? Do you think I’m bluffing? Have you forgotten? I have no family, nothing that ties me to this world. It was only you and your grandpa who kept me going. But now, you, the man I’ve loved for years, have turned into an ungrateful scoundrel. Ha! I was a fool to think you were different from the rest. I have nothing left to live for! Why should I keep suffering?”
After speaking, she slowly started loosening her grip on the railing, tilting her body backward.
“Stop!” Dave shouted urgently. “I agree!”
At that moment, Skylar grabbed the railing tightly with both hands, her eyes wide with anticipation.
“Really?” Skylar’s eyes lit up with a glimmer of hope.
Dave pressed his lips tightly together and nodded, though there was hesitation in his expression.
“Promise me. Say it clearly,” Skylar demanded, not backing down.
Dave took a deep breath and looked into her eyes. He spoke each word carefully. “I promise to stay by your side tonight… And that I will never marry Bianca. Is that enough?”
“You never kept your promises before. Why should I trust you now?” Skylar stared at Dave.
“What do you want me to do?” Dave asked coldly.
“I want a written agreement, with your signature and thumbprint,” Skylar said firmly.
Dave’s face darkened with displeasure. He looked at the night sky and then the sea for a moment. He turned to a bodyguard and gave him a signal.
The bodyguard understood right away and quickly went to get pen and paper, which he handed to Dave.
Dave placed the paper on the table on the balcony.
He wrote a few lines, signed his name, and pressed his thumbprint on it.
He then tossed the paper to Skylar, his voice cold. “Is that enough?”
Skylar didn’t answer. She carefully read what he had written.
A slow, satisfied smile spread across her face.
Now, she felt completely reassured.
She held the paper tightly, as if it was precious, and climbed back over the railing onto the deck.
With a smirk, she said, “You can’t go back on it. Now, tell them to leave.”
She was talking about the bodyguards standing behind him.
Dave nodded to them, and they silently left the room, closing the door behind them.
Now, it was just the two of them alone.
Skylar felt a rush of triumph. It seemed he couldn’t bear to see her die after all.
The signed agreement had taken care of her biggest worry.
As long as Dave didn’t marry Bianca, she still had a chance and plenty of time to win him over.
Skylar was feeling cheerful. She walked into the living room, grabbed a bottle of red wine from the cabinet, poured two glasses, and brought them out to Dave, who was still keeping his distance.
“Dave, would you like to have a drink with me?” she asked, her voice soft and inviting.
Dave walked over, took one of the glasses, and poured the wine into the trash. “I only agreed to stay here. I won’t do anything more than that,” he said coldly.
Skylar knew he had been forced to sign the agreement.
It wasn’t something he wanted to do.
So, she didn’t push him. Instead, she drank her wine in one gulp and followed it with a few more glasses.
“Dave, I didn’t want to force you,” she said after a while. “It’s just that you never kept your promises, which made me feel hopeless. I did this because I love you. I really love you… more than you know.”
Her cheeks were flushed, and she was pretending to be drunk.
As she spoke, she stumbled toward him. But Dave quickly stepped aside.
This made Skylar angry.
She was beautiful and had a great figure.
Now that they were alone, why didn’t he want her?
She never thought a man could resist her.
“It’s so hot,” she suddenly said, slipping the straps of her evening dress off her shoulders.
She walked over and turned her back to him. “Dave, can you help me with my zipper?” she asked. “I can’t reach it.”
She struggled to reach the zipper, making it clear she was having trouble.
Her smooth, delicate back was exposed as she swayed her hips, confident that no man could resist such a temptation.
But Dave knew what she was doing. With a frown, he turned and walked toward the door.
“Hey, didn’t you promise to stay with me?” Skylar shouted angrily at him.
Dave didn’t reply. He just opened the door and said something to a staff member outside.
Skylar had been ready to lash out, but when she saw him return, she held back her anger.
Soon, a female staff member knocked on the door and entered.
“How can I help you?” she asked politely.
Dave looked at Skylar and then told the staff member, “This lady wants to rest. Help her change out of her clothes.”
“Of course.” The staff member nodded and then turned to Skylar. “Miss, please.”
Skylar glared at Dave, her face red with anger. Despite her efforts, he stayed unmoved and even brought in someone else.
Was he even a man?
Now that they weren’t alone, she had no choice but to keep her cool.
Reluctantly, she followed the staff member into the changing room.
Once she left, Dave’s expression grew darker. He grabbed his phone and called Zane.
Meanwhile, Zane hurriedly swiped his room key and rushed into the room.
He found Bianca slumped on the floor, half draped over the sofa, looking unconscious.
“Miss Scott!” Panic filled him as he knelt beside her and checked for a pulse.
He breathed a sigh of relief when he felt her steady breathing.
Noticing the empty wine glass and bottle on the table, he guessed she had drunk too much.
