Leo withdrew his gaze and looked at Seraphina beside him. “Your cultivation should be at the peak of mid-stage Spirit Saint now, right?” he asked.
“Yes,” Seraphina nodded.
“The Jade Spirit Crystalfruit is rich in water energy and can purify spiritual power. Eating one should let you break through to the upper – stage Spirit Saint,” Leo said, his eyes shining.
Seraphina’s beautiful eyes narrowed slightly. “Getting the Jade Spirit Crystalfruit won’t be easy. That creature lying by the island in the pond should be the Crocodile King.”
Leo looked towards the island again. Indeed, a Blackscale Bloodcroc was lying there, its size more than three times that of other Blackscale Bloodcrocs.
Its pitch-black scales had a faint golden glow, making it look mysterious and noble.
Its enormous vertical pupils glowed with a savage and violent light, glaring at the cultivators on the shore.
As Seraphina mentioned, it was indeed the leader of the crocodiles in this pond, the Crocodile King.
Near the Crocodile King lay more than a dozen large Blackscale Bloodcrocs, all exuding the aura of Demon Sect-level beasts.
A Demon King-level Blackscale Crocodile King and over a dozen Demon Sect-level Blackscale Bloodcrocs were not opponents that ordinary cultivators could challenge.
Moreover, with three to four hundred Demon General-level Blackscale Bloodcrocs, even a powerful upper-stage Spirit Saint cultivator would have to think twice.
Seraphina continued, “Besides the Blackscale Bloodcrocs, the cultivators by the pond are also obstacles to getting the Jade Spirit Crystalfruit.”
At this moment, there were about fifty cultivators by the pond.
Judging by their auras, most of them were at lower and mid-stage Spirit Saint levels.
Four particularly strong auras caught Leo and Seraphina’s attention.
The four were Sky Blade, a lone swordsman; The Malevolent Twins, Evan Malice and Derek Malice; and Skull Walker.
Sky Blade was a cold-faced man in black, carrying a black long sword on his back, with sharp eyes radiating sword intent.
The Malevolent Twins were two extremely ugly twin brothers.
Evan Malice had bulging eyes and a sunken nose; Derek Malice was cross-eyed with a crooked mouth that occasionally drooled.
Due to their hideous looks, both had twisted personalities and enjoyed dismembering their victims after killing them.
Although the Martial Dynasty had issued a bounty for The Malevolent Twins, most cultivators who pursued them ended up being brutally dismembered.
Skull Walker was a lean old man in a gray robe embroidered with a terrifying white skull pattern.
He held a white jade skull staff, exuding an eerie aura.
Clearly, he was a Dark Cultist.
Judging by their auras, all four were at upper-stage Spirit Saint levels, very formidable.
Sky Blade did not belong to any dynasty; The Malevolent Twins were wanted by the Martial Dynasty; Skull Walker belonged to the Crescent Dynasty and was notorious there.
“Leo, there is more to those four than meets the eye,” Seraphina said softly.
Leo nodded. “Don’t worry. Soon someone will lose patience, and there will be a chaotic fight. I’ll get you one!”
The stronger the enemy, the more it fueled Leo’s fighting spirit.
As time passed, more cultivators discovered this place and quickly arrived.
Soon, there were nearly sixty cultivators by the pond.
The Crocodile King watched as more human cultivators gathered by the pond, its eyes growing colder and more violent.
It no longer lay still but paced restlessly around the island in the pond.
The eight Jade Spirit Crystalfruits had long been regarded as its private property.
In another ten years, when the other seven nearly mature Jade Spirit Crystalfruits fully ripened, it could use them to break through to the Demon Saint Realm.
But now, so many damned human cultivators had appeared all at once.
“Human cultivators, leave immediately or this will be your burial ground!” The Crocodile King roared in a hoarse voice filled with killing intent, revealing its knife-like teeth.
Despite the Crocodile King’s threat, none of the cultivators by the pond left.
With eight Jade Spirit Crystalfruits as temptation, they were loath to leave.
Nevertheless, no one wanted to be the first to act either. After all, the Crocodile King and Blackscale Bloodcrocs were not to be trifled with.
“Wretched beast, hand over one Jade Spirit Crystalfruit to me and I will leave immediately,” Skull Walker said coldly, gripping his skull staff.
“All Jade Spirit Crystalfruits belong to me! Don’t even think about it!” The Crocodile King roared furiously.
Honestly, it wasn’t afraid of any single human cultivator here, but a group of them was troublesome.
“If you hand over the Spirit Fruit now, you might still live. Otherwise, there will be rivers of blood here!” Skull Walker threatened coldly.
While Skull Walker and the Crocodile King spoke, several more cultivators arrived.
As their numbers grew, the Blackscale Bloodcrocs seemed less intimidating.
Some cultivators’ eyes grew increasingly fervent.
The Crocodile King lacked the intelligence to attack while human numbers were still manageable. It just glared angrily with savage eyes, guarding the Jade Spirit Crystalfruit tree as more humans gathered.
Suddenly, three powerful and domineering auras shot towards them.
The cultivators turned to look.
Three figures hovered above the pond’s edge-two men and one woman, all very tall and robust. They wore animal skins instead of robes.
Leading them were two burly men over two meters tall, wearing animal skin vests with muscular arms exposed.
Their arms alone were as thick as an average person’s thighs, their skin bronze-colored and muscles bulging with explosive power.
The tallest man held a Golden Gourd Warhammer with golden light flowing on it, clearly an extraordinary weapon.
Beside him was a slightly shorter man with a centipede-shaped scar on his face and equally explosive muscles. He wielded a golden broadsword.
The woman wore a golden tiger-skin skirt around her waist, exposing her long bronze legs. Her chest was wrapped in animal skin, revealing her smooth abdomen.
She held a golden longbow with a quiver on her back containing ten arrows glowing with golden runes.
Their attire was vastly different from that of other cultivators present.
