The telephone on my table rang and for a minute I eyed it wondering who the hell was calling. Even though I was Luciano’s PA and a lot of people would call me, I was fucking sick of it. My last mission hadn’t involved talking to so many people. Especially people who were potential criminals, considering they were doing business with the Devil himself. I looked behind me, through the glass walls, and sneered at him.
He sat majestically at his desk, holding a phone to his ear as he stared right back at me.
Bastard! was the word that came to mind.
Fucking bastard. The past week had been so hectic, I’d considered turning in my resignation letter just to be over it. I had to hand it to him, Luciano was a very meticulous businessman. He focused on his industry, guarding it like an eagle over her chicks and if he was just about any other man, that would have been so fucking hot.
I bit my lip, considering him for a while. His hair was gelled back. No surprise there. He was such a routine-like person, it was rather sickening. I knew his schedule by memory and could spit it out even in my sleep. Considering the day was a Friday, he would have a few meetings until two, and then his sugar plum for the week would come to drag him out of work.
I remembered one of the women he had left the office with. She had to be way slimmer than I was. Her boobs were… okay. I’d give them a seven out of a ten, but if that was his taste in women, then I could understand why he hadn’t reacted to any of the hints I had thrown his way.
It’s not like I could march up to his desk and lay spread eagle on it and scream ‘Hey! I want you to like my body!’. I’d be fired before I could blink. I chuckled to myself, shaking my head when suddenly the chuckle died down in my throat.
Luciano had risen from his desk and was stomping towards my door. My eyes narrowed as I took in the look on his face. He was angry. No, furious. He was furious. His dark brown eyes blazed and his brows were knitted and scrunched up together.
“Crap!” I muttered, rising to my feet, to a position where I could best defend myself. What the hell had the person on the phone told him?! Had he found out who I was? Taking deep breaths, I steeled myself, ready for whatever happened.
With a severe expression on his face, he pushed the glass door aside and walked up to me.
“Mr. Moretti?” I said, arching a brow in question.
He stopped right before me, a few inches away where I could feel the warmness radiating off him. His eyes glared down at me and I swear I could imagine him baring his teeth like some wild animal.
“How may I help you, sir?” I asked in a sultry tone, leaning my butt against my desk and folding my arms right beneath my breasts to prop them up.
His eyes followed the movement and he looked even angrier. “Miss Gonzalez,” he said in a rather deadly tone. “How well do you like your job?”
“Quite well sir,” I replied through my teeth.
He barked a laugh and dragged a hand down his face. “Not well enough I see. Do tell me why you weren’t picking up the fucking phone!”
My eyes went to the telephone and widened with realization. Oh shit! He had been the one calling. Oh fuck I could see how things looked to him now. He had been calling the phone and instead of picking up, I had watched him through the glass- the same glass that he could also watch me through!
He must have seen me bite my lip and chuckle. Dammit, he must have thought I was taunting him and wanted him to come to meet me.
“I-” Wait a fucking minute. That was good, wasn’t it? He must have thought I wanted to seduce him… Or? I watched his eyes flicker from my face to the hands propped under my breasts.
“Did you do it on purpose?” He demanded, closing the few inches between us until I was trapped against him and the desk I leaned on.
“What?” I sounded breathless and it was perfect because the rage seemed to die in his eyes and something else burned.
“Was this another ploy to seduce me, Raven?”
“If it is,” I whispered, grinning a little. “Is it working?”
His hands suddenly reached for my neck but I noticed them rather quickly and held my hands up to protect them. Surprise flickered in his eyes and he frowned and stepped back.
“Miss Gonzalez,” He said in a dry tone. “The only reason you still work in my company despite your antics is that you are efficient.” Pointing at the phone behind me, a cold expression slid back on his face. “The moment you lose that, I will not hesitate to kick you out.”
“My apologies Mr. Moretti,” I said, straightening up and clasping my hands together to look serious. “It will not happen again.”
He watched me warily for a while before walking towards the door. “It’s almost lunch. Get me a cup of coffee and a piece of toast.” He ordered just before stepping out.
The apprehension in my gut reduced and I sighed. That man confused the shit out of me. Sometimes it looked like I was making progress. That I was driving him as crazy as I intended to.
But other times? Like what had just happened now, it felt like I disgusted him and if another PA with my level of skills came rolling by, I’d be tossed aside. It seemed that seducing Luciano may no longer be a tangible option. I would have to find other means to investigate him, I couldn’t depend on my body alone.

The diner close to Luciano’s office was often filled with Moretti employees during the lunch period. I had been there twice, to get Luciano his precious bitter coffee that I wouldn’t be caught dead drinking. Those two times I tried to talk to some of the employees there but they pretty much shunned me every time.
I wasn’t sure what exactly put them off. Was it because I was the boss PA and I could easily tell Luciano their shortcomings or something? Whatever it was, I wanted to find out. Luciano wasn’t falling for my antics. I had to find other means to ferret out the truth about him.
As I walked to the counter in the diner, I scanned the surroundings for where Moretti employees were. It was quite easy to spot them. They wore formal clothes and a golden plaque on their chest that had their name and office inscribed on it. Considering Luciano hadn’t given me one, it seemed they were the ones who had come up with the idea
“Hello ma’am, what would you like?” The attendant greeted me, drawing my attention away from them.
Smiling brightly, I ordered a cup of coffee to go and two toasts. My eyes moved back to the employees. They talked and laughed rather excitedly, but I knew it would all die down if I approached them. I pursed my lips considering what to do when I noticed a certain loud mouth among them.
One of the security team. Max the dunderhead. He had been quite taken with me the last time. A grin slid to my face as I devised a plan.
“Here’s your order, ma’am,” the attendant announced.
Collecting the package, I pretended to stumble and spilled the coffee all over the floor. That seemed to get everyone’s attention.
“Pretty PA!” Max yelled, abandoning his friends and rushing towards me. I smirked, rising to my feet. Exactly as I planned.
Before he could get to me, however, someone else picked up my discarded package and the slightly empty coffee cup and thrust them toward me. “Here,”
I frowned looking up into familiar green eyes that stared coldly at me and groaned mentally. Of course, this asshole too was here. Marcus inclined his head, staring at me with a look on his face that I couldn’t fathom.
“Thank you,” I gritted out with a smile.
“I didn’t think you were a klutz,” he remarked snidely. “However since it rhymes with slut, I shouldn’t be surprised.”
I rolled my eyes at his words and turned to order another coffee.
“You drink black coffee?” He asked when I placed the order and I almost lost my shit there and then.
What the hell did he want? He was hovering around me, hindering my plans like some… some fool!
I whipped my head back, a coy smile playing on my lips. “Why are you so concerned? Are you obsessed with me?”
The look on his face was priceless. His face reddened and he stepped back, glaring at me. “I am not!”
I watched him walk out of the diner and smiled. That was interesting.
