“Why don’t we adjourn into the living room so we all can have a chat. We have some important information we need to share with you and your Grandparents,” advised my Dad to Anthony and his grandparents.
“Okay, you make it sound like it’s bad news,” observed Anthony to everyone as we made our way to the living room.
“We need to prepare you for who is coming and what to expect,” King Friedrich explained with a smirk.
Anthony gently placed me on the couch with my feet propped back up on the coffee table. Then, he kissed my lips gently.
“Anthony, Milo, and Sarah, my brother Vladimir is on his way here to see Melanie. He is very upset that she got hurt by Prince Michael. Well, let me just say, he wants to kill Prince Michael for making Melanie lose one of her babies. My brother is a Duke in the Royal Family,” explained my Mom.
“He’s my half-brother as well, same father, different mother. He is third in line for the throne. Duke Vladimir is on his way here because he is upset over the assault of Melanie. Either she or Daniel will take his position of Duke from him since he and his mate was never blessed with pups,” explained Uncle Friedrich.
Anthony and his Grandparents looked a little shocked at the revelation of us being related to the European Alpha King. He kept looking at me and then at King Friedrich.
“Anthony, are you okay? Say something my love,” I cooed as I held his hand in mine.
“I think he might be in shock. He’s had a lot to handle in the last 24 hours,” remarked Ophelia.
“I know. It hasn’t been easy, has it? I still feel like I want to burst into tears. But I need to control my emotions so I won’t upset the baby. I don’t want anything to hurt the one I have left,” I sniffled as tears were starting to trickle down my cheeks.
“Baby, it’s all right to cry. It’s part of the process of mourning the loss of the baby. I’m okay, your family news just threw me off is all. Are there any more secrets you want to reveal why you’re at it? Now would be a good time to get them out into the open,” mused Anthony with grin on his face.
“No, I think we’ve covered all our family secrets-Mom being from Royalty-check. Melanie being one of Uncle Vladimir’s favorite’s-check,” Danny teased in an amused tone.
“Really Danny? What’s for dessert?” I inquired trying to change the subject.
“Your favorite Mellie,” Dad chuckled as did everyone else.
“Did you use Nonna’s recipe?” questioned Friedrich.
“Of course, I did. I wouldn’t use any other recipe. Now, who is ready for some Chocolate Cake?” announced Mom with a huge smile on her face.
Everyone raised their hands. Now, I know where she got the recipe from. We all enjoyed our dessert before Mom, Rebecca, Sarah, and Ophelia went into the kitchen to clean it up. Mom tried to kick Sarah and Ophelia out but they remained and helped anyway.
Sophia sat next to me and wrapped me up in a bear hug. She was still struggling with the rejection of Prince Michael. I am so sorry he did that to her but I am willing to help her in any way I can.
“Hey Soph, you doing okay? How can I help you feel better? Hmm?” I asked her.
“I don’t know. You were right though. Every day I get up is a victory for me. I still cry at the drop of a hat,” explained Sophia.
“And you will for a while. You will cry about the silliest things for a while. Your heart will ache. It will be hard to be around males who aren’t your family. Baby steps, Soph. Baby steps,” I told her as I hugged her again.
“I know, I know. I just don’t want to be a bother or a burden to anyone,” Sophia said as she sighed.
“I had my Mom and Dad to help me out. When I was at work, Dad stayed close by to offer support when I needed it. And believe me, I called on him a couple of times in a panic and he came running to help me. Don’t be afraid to ask for help,” I advised her as we comforted each other. “They are your support. They don’t see you as a burden.”
“Are you listening to Mellie? Did you hear that last part?” demanded the Queen to her daughter with her hands on her hips.
“Yes Mom I heard her. My Mom told me I wasn’t being a burden or a bother to her already. I just don’t want to … never mind. I’ll ask for help when I need it, okay Mom? I promise,” cried out Sophia as she got up and went to hug her mother to ask forgiveness.
“You are never a burden to me. You are my daughter, my baby girl. I will always take care of you and Ophelia. Always! Never, ever forget that. Mellie is right, we are your support system. Just ask,” reminded her mother with a hug and kiss.
“Yes ma’am. I will,” Sophia promised.
Our family, what can I say? We are a loving bunch. Just then, King Friedrich’s phone buzzed.
“Well, it looks like you’re going to meet your Uncle Vladimir tonight. He just arrived at the airport and is currently on the way here. So, Melanie if you were thinking about retiring to your room early, think again. He will be here in about an hour. Everyone be forewarned. Melanie is his favorite niece and yes, he is pissed she was hurt,” reminded King Friedrich to everyone.
All I could do is take a deep breath and let it out. I shook my head and then put my head on Anthony’s shoulder.
‘Don’t worry my love, he won’t hurt you. He loves me so you should have nothing to worry about,’ I told Anthony in our link.
‘I’m not really worried about your uncle my love. I’m just concerned about you. You look tired. You haven’t really rested today per doctor’s orders. Close your eyes and just rest for a few minutes until he gets here. Can you do that for me?” cooed Anthony in our link.
‘I can do that. Love you,’ I cooed back.
‘Love you too, now close your eyes and rest,’ purred Anthony.
Conversations were going on all around us as we sat in the living room. I lost all track of time. Before I knew it, I heard the telltale sounds of a car pulling up in our driveway. Then, I heard him. Uncle Vladimir was here. Wait until he hears about what Prince Michael did to Sophia. Then the shit is really going to hit the fan. Oops, sorry. I forgot that I’m not supposed to curse. Then, the crap is really going to hit the fan. There much better.
