Chapter Thirty-One

Anthony and I returned to our suite so we could change into our workout clothes. We had to rush since we had the meeting with the Alpha Kings. Anthony had to report to Ring 6 for his match at 10 AM. By the time we got there, the auditorium was full. Dad saved me a seat next to him, upfront, so I could watch Anthony compete against Clark. I noticed that both Alpha Kings were present for this match.
I walked with Anthony over to where he entered the ring and wished him ‘good luck.’ Then, I went to take my seat next to my father. I seemed to have a lot of people watching my every movement since I walked into the auditorium with Anthony by my side. When I sat down and I looked over at Clark’s side of the ring.
Beta Mason had a perplexed look on his face when he saw me looking at him. I nodded at him and he at me. I wonder why he looked so troubled. Was it because Clark was going to challenge Anthony for me or because he knew that we completed our mate bond? Who knows but one thing is for sure, we are about to find out.
The Referee called Anthony and Clark into the middle of the ring to go over the rules of the match. When Clark saw the mark on Anthony’s neck, a darkness overtook his face. He narrowed his eyes and sneered at Anthony while he growled lowly. This only caused Anthony to smirk at him, which caused Clark to growl even more.
“She was supposed to be MINE!” growled Clark to Anthony.
“Yes, but you rejected her and now she belongs to ME! She’s MINE! Forever and ever,” declared Anthony to Clark.
I had my walls up so Anthony could not feel my anxiety and distract him during the match. When the Referee asked if there were any questions, I held my breath. I just knew Clark was going to challenge Anthony at that time.
“I, Clark Downey, challenge you, Anthony Harrison for the Mate of Delta Heir Melanie,” challenged Clark to Anthony.
I was holding my breath. Just then, the Alpha King spoke up.
“You cannot challenge Anthony for the Delta Heir Melanie because they have already completed their mate bond. I believe you have already been told this. Why did you try to do so anyway?” demanded Alpha King Matthew.
“I just want my mate back Alpha King. I screwed up. I made a mistake,” sniveled Clark.
“The winner of this match will continue on in the tournament. They will not win the mateship of Delta Heir Melanie as she has already completed the mate bond with her Second Chance Mate, Anthony Harrison. Do you understand?” demanded Alpha King Matthew.
“Yes, Alpha King. I understand. My apologies,” Clark replied as he bowed toward the Alpha King.
“Good. Now the match may now proceed,” declared the Alpha King.
I was finally able to breathe normally. The Referee told Clark and Anthony to step back and get ready to fight. On the command of ‘fight,’ they will commence. The Referee finally gave the command, ‘FIGHT.’
Clark wasted no time attacking Anthony. Clark began with a right, left combination which Anthony easily deflected. He quickly followed it up with his own right, left combination which landed with force on the left hook. After landing the blows, Clark tried to kick Anthony in the abdomen. Anthony was able to grab his leg and send him flying back toward the other side of the ring.
Both Clark and Anthony were landing blows to the head and torso of each other. They were showcasing some impressive MMA skills. I was like a kid in a candy store watching them fight. Without a second thought, Clark shifted into his wolf and lunged at Anthony catching him in the shoulder.
Anthony was able to bring his feet up and into the stomach of Clark’s wolf. He then was able to launch Clark’s wolf to the other side of the ring giving him enough time to shift into his wolf. Anthony’s cinnamon-colored wolf immediately attacked Clark’s dark chocolate wolf by launching himself towards him landing on his back and sinking his sharp teeth into his back. Clark howled with pain.
Clark reared back so Anthony was now on his back and Clark was on top. Using his hind legs, Anthony was able to kick Clark off of him. Using his claws, Anthony clawed Clark at the same time he kicked him off.
The fight was getting brutal. Anthony and Clark seemed to be evenly matched in skill. Both were getting beaten up. It was just a matter of time before one of them submitted or became unconscious.
Clark made a desperate attempt to clamp his jaws around Anthony’s neck but got his shoulder instead. Anthony didn’t waste any time wrestling him away from his shoulder, which took Clark by surprise. It was all he needed to clamp his jaws around Clark’s neck and bring him down. Clark started to whimper. Anthony only tightened his hold on his neck until he submitted.
Anthony released his hold on Clark’s neck and stepped away. He shifted back and was given a pair of shorts to put on. Clark did the same. In the end, no words were spoken between Clark and Anthony. Both of them fought hard and needed medical attention but it was understood that I was Anthony’s.
The crowd was howling and cheering for both fighters. This was by far the best match so far of the tournament. I walked over to greet Anthony. He wrapped his arms around me and I him. We simply held each other for a few minutes.
I was told my match would be next in this ring so I shouldn’t go anywhere. I was told my opponent was the other she-wolf that chose to pummel her opponent for no reason other than to prove she was better than her. Yay me. I was given a few minutes to stretch out before my match and to prepare myself for her. The other she-wolf had already entered the ring and was waiting for me.
As I entered the ring, I mentally prepared myself for a tough battle. I already saw that she had two inches on me and had much more muscle mass than me. Okay, just because she’s taller and has more muscle doesn’t mean anything. I just have to be smarter about how I fight.
The Referee called us into the center to go over the rules of the match. When I approached, the she-wolf scoffed at me. She had a look of disgust and disdain on her face. When the Referee asked if there were any questions, we both said, ‘No.’
We both stepped back to assume our defensive stances. The Referee took two steps back so he would not be in the way. “Fight,” bellowed the Referee.
The other she-wolf didn’t move yet and neither did I. She was watching me as I was watching her. We were both sizing each other up. When she began to circle me, I thought I would circle her. That’s when I noticed that she favored her left side or was she doing that on purpose to make me think she was weak on her left side?
We started inching toward each other, then she lunged for me. As she got almost in front of me, I flipped over her and landed behind her. I was able to land a series of blows to her before she was able to recompose herself again. She was not expecting me to do that. No one has seen me do my flips before in the competition, I’ve done them in training but not in the competition.
She was momentarily stunned and came at me again. This time she landed a hit to my stomach but that was it before I was able to grab a hold of her midsection and engage a sleeper hold. My legs were wrapped around her midsection holding her in place while I had her engaged in a sleeper hold.
“Submit!” I commanded.
