Chapter Twenty-Two

Book:Delta's Rejected Daughter Published:2025-2-19

“Anthony, will you please escort me to my room so I can get some rest?” I inquired softly as I gazed into his gorgeous blue eyes.
“I thought you’d never ask. Come on my beautiful mate, I’m sure Anderson or Noah can lead the way,” Anthony chimed in as he wrapped his arm around my waist to escort me to my room.
Once we had arrived at my room, Anderson opened the door to make sure that only Melissa was in there. He was introduced to Tucker and Jared. I said goodnight to Anthony by kissing his cheek and he mine. He stood there and watched me enter my room. Tucker closed the door and made sure it was locked. Anthony bade him a goodnight and left for his room.
Melissa wanted to hear everything about Anthony. Of course, I told her everything that I knew about him which granted wasn’t very much. I got ready and climbed into bed.
As I lay there, I thought about what my future might be. I just met my second chance mate. What does that mean for me? Where am I going to live? Changes are coming for me that’s for sure. As I drifted off to sleep, I remembered his scent, it reminded me of a cinnamon roll-full of cinnamon, brown sugar, and vanilla. What a wonderful combination. Yummy goodness.
I woke up feeling refreshed and happy. Melissa says I woke up with a smile on my face. We got ready for breakfast which was buffet style served between 6 AM to 8 AM. We were to all assemble for the beginning of the tournament at 9 AM in the stadium for the Opening Ceremony. Shortly before 7 AM, my Dad asks if we’re ready for breakfast which I of course answered, yes we are.
My Dad had Anderson escort Melissa and me to where he, Alpha Richard, Joshua, and Kyle were so we all could go get breakfast. We were in the dining room getting our breakfast from the buffet line when Anthony came into the dining room. After we sat down, I noticed that Dad left a seat open, I didn’t even have to wonder who it was for. I chuckled as Anthony walked over and asked if he could join us for breakfast.
“Good morning, Alpha Richard. May I join your group this morning for breakfast?” Anthony inquired while standing behind the empty chair.
“Of course, you may Anthony. Melissa, Joshua, and Kyle this is Anthony Harrison, Lead Trainer for the Crescent Moon Pack and Melanie’s second chance mate. She met him last night after dinner,” explained Alpha Richard to the very stunned Melissa, Joshua, and Kyle at the table.
“Congratulations Melanie!” they chorused together.
“Thank you” I replied to them. “Good morning Anthony. How’d you sleep last night?” I inquired softly toward him.
“I slept very well, thank you. Because I dreamt of you,” he whispered to me.
I had a blush on my cheeks that was getting deeper by the second. My Dad just started chuckling as did Alpha Richard. I just gave my Dad a look that said, ‘knock it off.’
We were having a pleasant breakfast with a conversation centered around the tournament when Beta Mason and Clark showed up at our table.
“Clark, I told you I would inquire when a good time would be to talk with her. Stand down, NOW!” commanded Beta Mason to Clark.
“Beta, I just want to talk with her. Please, just let me talk with her,” begged Clark as Beta Mason was restraining Clark from our table.
“Good morning Beta Mason. We are finished with our breakfast. Why don’t we move this meeting to another location? I would like to get this conversation taken care of NOW!” commanded Alpha Richard.
“Yes Alpha,” replied Beta Mason. He nodded toward me and the rest of the table as we stood. He noticed that another male had his arm wrapped around my waist. Clark growled when he saw this.
“You have no right to growl at him,” I snapped at Clark as I continued to allow Anthony to escort me to our meeting. Anderson and Noah made sure they were between me and Clark.
Alpha Richard found an empty room for us to use. We all entered the room and waited for Alpha Richard to begin. Clark was staring daggers at Anthony while I couldn’t care less about Clark being in the room.
“Beta Mason, it’s good to see you again,” I exclaimed as we all got comfortable.
“It’s good to see you again Delta heir Melanie. I wish it was under different circumstances though,” lamented Beta Mason.
“I hear ya,” I sighed softly. “Beta Mason, this is Anthony Harrison, Lead Trainer of the Crescent Moon Pack, my second chance mate,” I happily introduced Anthony to him.
Clark growled when I said, my second chance mate.
“Nice to meet you,” responded Beta Mason.
“Pleasure to meet you, Beta Mason,” replied Anthony.
“What? I don’t get an introduction?” sniveled Clark.
“Oh, I’m sorry. I thought you already knew Anthony. He said he knew who you were,” I explained to Clark.
“Well, yeah I know him, but you didn’t think that everyone else might not know who I am?” whined Clark.
“Oh, trust me, we know exactly who you are. You are the stupidest wolf alive,” Anderson answered him with disgust on his face.
“What does that …” was all he got out before Alpha Richard interrupted him.
“Enough! Silence! We all know who you are! Why do you want to talk to Melanie now? You broke your bond with her when you rejected her. She doesn’t have to see you or talk to you if she doesn’t want to,” explained Alpha Richard.
“I wanted to … I just wanted to say … Please can you give me a chance to make things right? I was a jackass. I rejected you without even talking to you. That wasn’t even fair to you. Can you give me a second chance?” begged Clark to me as he kept running his hand through his hair as he looked me in the eyes.
As I’m standing there with Anthony holding me with his arms wrapped around my waist. I can’t help but think of how this feels so right, so perfect. Should I give him a second chance? He admitted he made a mistake. Wait a minute-he didn’t wait for me like I did him. Screw this. If I were a petty person, I could point out that he only wants a second chance simply because his chosen mate rejected him when she met her fated mate. If I was a petty person, which I am not. I was thinking this, but I didn’t say it. I wanted to throw it in his face because Kharma’s a bitch.
“Why should I give you a second chance? You destroyed me without so much as a ‘How do you do.’ I waited for my fated mate-that’s how much I valued my fated mate. You didn’t wait for your fated mate-that’s how much you valued your fated mate-you didn’t,” I growled at him.
“I’m sorry I didn’t wait for you. I’m so, so sorry,” he pleaded.
“Dad, why am I having this conversation right now? I have a tournament to participate in. How am I supposed to concentrate on it if my mind is on something else?” I asked my Dad who was looking rather perplexed with the whole conversation.
“Just say the word Mellie and he won’t be a problem for you for the rest of the competition,” Dad responded with absolute certainty.
“Clark, I accepted your rejection. I feel nothing for you now. I found my second chance fated mate last night. I would like to get to know him without you present, just don’t talk to me-stay away from me please,” I commanded as I sighed heavily in Anthony’s arms.
“If that’s the way you feel, I’ll stay away from you. Again, I’m sorry I hurt you,” lamented Clark. “Take good care of her,” Clark said to Anthony.
“Don’t worry, I plan on it,” Anthony replied to Clark as Clark walked out the door followed by Beta Mason.
We all sighed a big sigh of relief once Clark left the room. I was not expecting something like this to happen this morning, but then again it was bound to happen soon.
“Are you okay baby?” Anthony whispered in my ear when the door closed.
“Yes, I’m okay,” I purred as I relaxed against his chest enjoying the warmth and feeling of love and reassurance he was sending my way.
“Melanie, we’ll keep an eye out for him. Don’t you worry about that? Just focus on the tournament and getting to know your mate. Any questions?” inquired Alpha Richard.
“When and where are we supposed to assemble for the Opening Ceremony?” I questioned Alpha Richard while I was still in Anthony’s arms.
“We have 45 minutes until the opening ceremony and you, along with Melissa, Joshua, and Kyle are to assemble on the field behind our Pack’s Name. Anderson and Noah will make sure you get where you belong, no worries. Any more questions?” inquired Alpha Richard to anyone in the room.
“No, Alpha Richard,” I answered him.
“Good. Now then, go get your things so you can prepare to compete in the tournament. Good Luck Melanie and to you as well Anthony,” declared Alpha Richard.
“Thank you, Alpha,” we chorused.
I beamed as I bowed toward Alpha Richard, who was walking out the door.
“Melanie, go get your things, and if I don’t see you before you compete, good luck,” Dad exclaimed as he gave me a hug and a kiss. “Love you.”
“Thank you, Dad. Love you too,” I gushed as I returned his hug and kiss.
“Good luck to you too Anthony,” my Dad encouraged as he held out his hand for him to shake.
“Thank you, Delta Troy,” exclaimed Anthony as he shook Dad’s hand.
“Come on baby, I need to take you to get your things so you can meet your people,” cooed Anthony softly in my ear.
“No, my roommate Melissa has my training bag so all I have to do is show up. But you need to go and get your things. Go, we’ll talk later, okay? It’s all good, I promise. Good Luck to you,” I purred as I looked him in the eyes and caressed his cheek. I could get lost in his gorgeous blue eyes.
“And to you as well. I hope to see you soon,” Anthony cooed before he leaned in to give me a kiss on the cheek.
I watched him leave to go get his things and join his pack. I sighed contentedly as I raked my eyes over his perfectly toned body. Wow! And he’s all MINE!
