Jessica’s point of view
“But you recommended him, if you didn’t he wouldn’t have had that opportunity to show his contract, it would have been in the bin”
“You really underestimate your father but no problem it’s fine”
“Okay, he said he would treat you dinner when you are free if could allow him”
“No problem, I will make out time”
“How is your sister ”
“She is good, she got a fiance ”
“Good for her, I need to go back to work, my time is up ”
“No problem, I will call you later on ”
“Okay no problem, goodbye”
I went back to my office to continue my work, the day was hectic but I soon finished albeit late, I packed my stuff and left, there were little or no workers loitering about, I exited the building having in mind to board a taxi but lo, behold Xavier was right there in his car smirking at me, I rolled my eyes at him,
“I don’t remember asking you to come get me, so what are doing here”
“Well, I have been doing this for a while so why complaining now and besides you are complaining while getting into the car, hypocritic”
“Hmph, because I don’t want grandpa to worry”
“Grandpa? Don’t let him hear that ”
“Why ?”
I asked raising my eyebrows at him,
“He thinks that’s meant for very very old people ”
I laughed at the irony, (but he is old though ),
“I know what you just thought now while laughing ”
“What?”
” You thought ‘but he is old’ didn’t ye?”
“Yeah, you are right not”
“I totally got it”
“You didn’t ”
“I did, your left eyes twitch when you are lying ”
“No, it doesn’t and you didn’t ”
We looked at each other and burst out laughing, it was the first time we laughed and joked after our fight and it felt … Wonderful,
“See, Jessica ”
“Uhmm”
“Am sorry, really am sorry ”
“Ok, I forgive you now ”
“Really?”
“Of course not, come on you expect me to say that, Xavier you put my life on line for revenge I know nothing about ”
“Shit, I know okay and am sorry, I was being selfish and a jerk but I never meant for you to get hurt ok, I made sure you are always guarded ”
“Guarded? Guarded? With whose permission and you seem to be forgetting something, your parents died of accident on the ROAD not in the HOUSE”
I realised my mistake when I finished, even though I was angry that was very low for me to say,
“Am sorry Xavier….”
“No it’s okay, you are right, what I did was bad, I stopped it almost as soon as I started okay, sorry once again ”
The rest of the drive home was filled with silence and heavy atmosphere, it hang so thick in the air that it prickled my skin making it seem like I would blister, I shouldn’t have said that to him, I knew that his parents death was a sour spot of his but I used it today because I wanted to hurt him and am really sorry.
We reached the house and packed in our garage, we came out and went into the house to find everyone laughing and gisting with grandfather, he was telling them something funny and my heart tells me it had to do with Xavier,
“So I lifted Xavier’s teeth and said ‘am the tooth fairy’ he believed me”
Yep it definitely has to do with him, I looked at his face and boy was he not happy ? ,
“Grandpa, why would you tell everyone that?”
He is definitely angry, I crept up to the room immediately I greeted grandfather, I wouldn’t be caught in the cross fire, I heard everyone burst out laughing once again, it was very warm and sweet, I have not experienced such sweetness of a family before,
(Am happy my child will be raised in such a lovely home )
I smiled as I went upstairs, my phone started vibrating in my pocket, I brought it out from my purse to see the caller’s name and it’s someone I was expecting in a while,
“So soon Blac ?”
“Yes, it was easy”
“Now hit me with what you got”
“Well, the former Mr and Mrs McCartney’s death wasn’t an accident which am sure you know now ”
“Yes, I do”
“But there are more than one persons involved, it’s a very big conspiracy, there are board members involved and their rival company are more than involved too, they are the planners acting ”
“You mean Mr Marcus was involved ”
“Nay ah, he wasn’t involved because he is still small then but his parents, the father, precisely is the planner and the board members are the orchestras ”
“Haa, this is a big news, how could they, no wonder the case was covered just like that because someone was influencing it behind the scenes ”
“That’s not all”
“Okay, continue ”
“They were more than 20 assassination attempt on Xavier after that, seems like they wanted him gone to prevent any changes in the future ”
“Wow, they are so heartless not even sparing a child ”
“That’s what they do, most of these rich and wealthy people don’t see human lives as anything unless the person is in higher position than them”
“You are so right, continue investigating more, find out everyone and their secrets and send to me, make sure it’s the worst secrets they are trying to hide, be careful though okay ”

We were still talking, I was so distracted I didn’t hear the footsteps behind me till someone touched me, I nearly fall down in fright, I looked at Xavier unbelievable facial expressions, he looked so shocked I knew why, (shit he heard my calls and everything I said ),
“What is he saying, Jessica?”
