Jessica’s POV
It’s has been two weeks since I have been at the hospital, Xavier has been very caring and good towards me, some of my coworkers came to see me and brought gift with them, I was happy, grandfather was getting better and soon both of us will be discharged, Xavier wanted it to be on the same day so here we are at the parking lot, the butler taking grandfather’s things into his car, we won’t be leaving with them but we will visit him from time to time, after he was done , he drove off with grandfather and Xavier and I went home, the place was dark as we got closer,
“Are the maids not around?”
“I gave them a day off, why?”
“Nothing, it was dark that’s why?”
“What are you scared or you want to show off your prowess again?”
He teased me and laughed, I smacked him on the shoulder and we got off the car, I didn’t have that many stuff, just one small bag, I went to get but Xavier stopped
“Don’t worry, go inside let me get them for you ”
“Okay, thank you ”
I opened the front door and switched on the light….
“Welcome home and happy birthday!!!!”
“Gosh, you guys startled me, oh…. wow, oh my god, wow”
I covered my mouth with my palm, I am really really surprised, I have forgotten that today was my birthday even, the whole place was decorated and few of my colleagues were there with the cooks,
“Happy birthday, Jessica ”
I smiled with teary eyes, I felt warmth down to my toes, I am feeling touched, just then Xavier came in carrying my bags, the look on his face made me know that he was aware,
“Happy birthday Jessica ”
“Thank you Xavier ”
We went to the hall in the house that was designed for such events, there was a big round beautifully decorated table there with all kinds of food and snacks all which are my favourite and a big vanilla cake in the middle,
“Wow, all these for me”
They nodded and I thanked them profusely, I really appreciate their thoughts,
“It’s all Xavier’s idea, he told us about it and made sure the things are set before going to bring you ”
“Oh, thank you very much Xavier, thank you, I really appreciate ”
He smiled at me but didn’t say anything, I blow the candle after making a wish and cut the first slice which was actually very big, well not to worry because there are plenty where it came from, the cake was quite tasty and smooth.
My birthday celebrations was good, small talks here and there was made and we watched moves before everyone went back to their assigned rooms, I tried to help the maids clean up but they refused adamantly, I gave up and went inside, Xavier was taking his bath as when I came in, I noticed he hasn’t brought out cloths he will wear.
I brought out the nightwear he will wear and mine too, I placed it neatly on the bed, he came out while drying his hair, water dribbling down his neck to his torso, it was mesmerising and lewd, I had to tear my eyes away from the view but not without seeing him smirk at me, embarrassment cloud my cheeks, I cleared my throat
“Thank you for tonight ”
“No need, it’s my job as your husband ”
My cheeks turned red at the word husband, yes he is my husband even though it’s a contract, it’s still a legal marriage registered,
“Yeah, I got your nightwear, they are on the bed, let me take my bath, you can sleep before me”
“Okay, thank you, am going to my study, don’t wait up”
I blushed profusely that am sure, my hot cheeks will boil an egg, we sounded like a lovely couple.
XAVIER’S POV
I went into my study, I sat down and relaxed back into the chair, swaying side by side, I had a slight headache caused by noise from earlier, I took aspirin and relaxed more.
Honestly if not for her hospital files I wouldn’t have known that today was her birthday and knowing her, she probably forgot or won’t say anything at all to me.
I opened my laptop after my head had calmed down, I opened the email I got and I saw a message from my secretary, the security has been found but in a bad condition, I have already helped his family relocate to abroad when I noticed he was missing out of all my house workers and I spring into actions immediately, all that needs to be done is to wait for him to wake up.
“Xavier??”
I opened my eyes, I didn’t even know when I fell asleep here, Jessica let her small head in and smiled, she has been doing that a lot this night, is that how happy she is?
“Why are you sleeping in the study and in that position no less, you might sprain your neck”
“Yes, am coming, let me close my laptop ”
I closed my laptop and arranged everywhere and went back into the room, Jessica was already on her side of the bed, I climbed in and covered and lay on my back and look straight up to the ceiling, I didn’t know I was tired till my eyes felt heavy and my body felt really sour, my muscles tighten and lose as if I was flexing it, I mauled over what my grandfather said to me
I know I love her but she doesn’t not with the way she is behaving, now isn’t the right time, I was drifting off to sleep when a phone pinged indicating a message, I checked my phone to know who and what, it wasn’t mine that was pinging, it was Jessica’s, it pinged again but I was too far away in sleep to notice.
