Xavier’s POV
I reached the house in a record time just to see an ambulance also there, my heart jumped into my stomach, I was so scared, I felt faint when a stretcher with someone lying in top was wheeled out, I rushed towards it but it was a man instead, I didn’t recognise him but am sure he is the intruder, I breathed out in relief so soon because another stretcher was wheeled out this time around it was Jessica, I rushed to her side,
“Jessica, can you hear me, can you hear me?”
“Sir, please, you are blocking us, we need to attend to her”
“I am here husband, what’s wrong with her, is she injured?”
“You are the husband, good follow us in your own car but for now please move out of the way”
I obliged this time around and was going to get into my car when Henry stopped me,
“Sir, have you seen your wife ”
“Yes, I have and she was wheeled out, how come you all didn’t get here on time?”
“Sir we tried, well I must say, your wife is quite a strong woman”
“Huh?”
“She was the one that beat that idiot into unconsciousness, though she was nearly strangled but she saved herself ”
“You mean to say that Jessica attacked the intruder? Why would she do something so dangerous, I need to go now”
“No problem, the ambulance took are leaving ”
“No problem, thanks ”
I drove off immediately following the ambulance closely behind, the siren was on and everyone was clearing the road, I followed them suit.
We arrived at the hospital and I requested for a private room for her, the doctors attended to her immediately, I saw a large black bruise on her neck, and it downed on me that she was almost killed that guy wasn’t joking when he strangled her, he meant to kill her instead, I left her side and went to the ward where the fool was, I was very angry and fuming inside, he was already awake but was chained to the bead.
“You fucking son of a bitch”
I hit him in the face
“How dare you lay your filthy hand on my wife? How dare you?”
I punched him on the nose, the attendant there and the police rushed to hold me back from killing him and that’s when I actually looked at him well, his head was bandages tightly with pins, the hit he got from me made him collapsed again and the doctors rushed at him, they started treating him all over again.
“Sir, calm down ”
I allowed myself to be lead outside by the police, the doctors wheeled the fucking man outside towards the operating room
“Sir, you and your wife really want to kill the man, he was about to go for surgery due to the head injury your wife gave him, he just opened his eyes just for you to close it back up”
“That fool deserve to die or rot in jail for all I care, I will make sure of it”
I went back to Jessica’s ward and the doctor informed me that she is just sleeping, her neck was wrapped up with bandage and she was sleeping peacefully, I caressed her right cheeks lovingly,
“Never knew you had it in you, feisty Jessica but that was really dangerous, attacking him all by yourself, what if he had a gun or a knife or some other deadly weapon?”
She didn’t answer which is completely normal because she was sleeping, I kissed her on the forehead before I registered what I was doing,
“I was so worried, please don’t do this again, I won’t bear it if anything happened to you ”
JESSICA’S POV
I felt someone touching my cheeks and saying something, I wanted to open my eyes but it felt heavy, my throat burns like mad and my thighs hurts too, the person who was touching my cheeks kissed my forehead in a gentle manner,
“I was so worried, please don’t do this again, I won’t bear it if anything happens to you ”
Xavier, am sure of it, after making me angry, here he is acting like a good lover when he was a jerk,
(But why is he kissing my forehead, it’s making me confused )
I was sure that if I was awake, I would be blushing hard right now, I really wanted to see his face and what type of emotion he is displaying now,
(That motherfucking guy better rot in jail )
My thoughts wandered to the intruder, he came in as if he knew where he was actually going, what was he looking for in Xavier’s drawer, is he (Xavier) doing something illegal? Who was that guy, am sure he knew what he was looking for a d know the schedule of the maids, so we have a spy among the house helps and cooks?
I felt myself finally falling really asleep, Xavier never stopped stroking my hand gently, I felt warm and sweet, soon my consciousness closed.
XAVIER’S POV
I stayed with her till the next morning and I went to my grandfather’s room, he was already awake, he looked behind me as if he was looking for someone who am sure is Jessica, my face clouded again.
“Xavier where is my daughter in-law?”
“She is…. she is at home ”
“You are lying, if she was she would have been here since morning ”
“Fine, she is admitted in the hospital ”
“WhyM wait, you…. you…. you insolent child, you beat her didn’t you, I will beat you to death”
“I didn’t grandfather, so you think that low of me?..”
“Then tell me why?”
“We had an intruder at the house and your dear superwoman daughter in-law decided it wise to attack him on his own”
“Oh, is she okay? I always knew she is a strong lady to be able to put up with you”
“Grandfather, that’s not funny, what if the person had a knife or gun or something dangerous, she could have died or seriously injured ”
“But she wasn’t that’s okay, you sound seriously pissed, do you…. love her or have feelings for her”
I kept quiet
