Cassian’s face quickly twisted from an amused one into a panicked one. “How the hell did he find us?” They must have underestimated Klaus. How did Klaus even know they were after him?
Drake’s jaw clenched. “I’ll head out to stop him.” He grabbed his gun and stepped out of the room with some men.
Cassian, however, swiftly pulled out his gun and pointed it at Morticia’s forehead. He chuckled.
“What makes him think I won’t kill you before he gets here?” Cassian asked with a smirk. He clicked on his gun, ready to shoot, but Morticia showed no fear; Cassian knew she was only acting tough.
“Ending you right here will solve everything and bring everything back together. If you die, Klaus will forget all about you and marry my daughter.”
Cassian crooked his neck. “That’s how he is; he doesn’t give a fuck about anyone. Even you. You’re just a worthless whore he’ll soon throw away. So I’ll do you the favor by driving this bullet into your forehead.”
“Oh, little man. Our bond is way stronger than you think,” Morticia spoke calmly, and the next moment, a gunshot sounded, striking Cassian’s hand that held the gun.
The gun spilled away from Cassian’s hand along with four of his fingers.
Cassian’s scream hit the four corners of the room-piercing and loud.
The men in the room had just switched sides, now aiming their guns at Cassian, who writhed in intense pain.
It took a moment before he could realize what was happening… how the fuck did his men suddenly change sides?
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?!” he yelled at them. He then faced one of his best men. “You swore your loyalty to me. Me!”
“My loyalty doesn’t belong to a man who raped my sister. A man who kept destroying lives just for power,” the built man around the corner said, his voice firm and eyes cold.
Cassian froze at his words.
“Klaus told us everything. We are done being your pawns,” the man added, and before Cassian could reply, the man shot him. The bullets pierced his leg and arms, making Cassian scream even louder.
His body shook violently as he crumpled to the floor, blood spilling, head lowered.
Then a pair of black heels appeared before him. Slowly, he looked up and met Morticia’s sharp gaze.
Morticia crooked her head slightly. “A sad little man playing King… that’s what you are.”
However, Drake was confused by his men, wondering if he should head back or forward as gunshots rang from every angle.
Nova had told him Klaus was out of the country. The plan was to threaten Klaus to marry Cassian’s daughter or Morticia would die.
Who would have thought Klaus was able to deceive one of the strongest men in the underworld?
Drake’s thoughts were interrupted when gunshots were directed at his position, hitting the men around him. He quickly took cover around the corner, eyes darting frantically for the source of the attack-it was from the floor above them.
“The stairs. Up, now,” he ordered quietly to the men who were still alive.
Quietly, they took the stairs, going up, their hands tightly gripping their guns, eyes burning with focus.
They stepped carefully, ready to shoot anything that came into sight.
But as they walked further, something felt wrong.
Drake’s eyes widened as he realized something, but just as he was about to scream the word “Above you!”, the gunshots sounded.
The bullets hit the men standing with him, making them fall dead one after the other.
Drake aimed up but froze when he saw who it was. For a fleeting moment, shock flashed in his eyes. She was the last person he expected to see.
“Valerie,” he mumbled, his voice tinged with amusement.
Valerie dropped down from the upper railing, landing gracefully like a shadow in the dimly lit hallway.
Her outfit was all black: a crop top, ripped jeans, a jacket, and boots. Valerie huffed, a strand of her short red hair swept to the side.
Placing her machine gun on her shoulder, Valerie smirked a dangerous smirk. “Hello, uncle.”
Drake scoffed, lowering his gun, amusement swirling in his gaze. His niece had impressed him so much he couldn’t believe she had almost killed him earlier.
“You’ve become strong,” he said, straightening up.
“Impressed?” She raised a brow, and Drake chuckled.
“Of course I am.” Drake let out a small laugh, one that pissed Valerie off. Her brows knitted further. “Look at you,” he tilted his head slightly, scrutinizing her from head to toe. “You look like an angel of death.”
Valerie snorted. “I’m glad you got something right. Well, this angel of death is about to screw you up real bad.”
Drake sighed. “I know we have a beef, but I’m still your uncle whether you like it or not. We are family.”
Valerie’s aura shifted to a colder one.
“We shouldn’t be doing this.” Drake shrugged. “Fighting? Your father wouldn’t want this. What I did years ago was wrong and terrible, but I can make it up to you. I can help you, Val. I can help you become stronger than this. I can give you all the power you want… make you…”
“Oh please… shut the crap,” Valerie cut in. “What the fuck do you think I’m here for? Your help? That I’ll trust you after everything you’ve done?”
Drake’s face hardened at the interruption. “You don’t want to fight me, Valerie. I’m way stronger than you… you know that.”
Valerie grinned devilishly, her hand running through her hair as she dropped her gun. “Show me what you’ve got, bastard. I can’t wait to kill you with my bare hands,” she smirked.
Drake clicked his tongue, scoffing as he dropped his gun as well. “You really think you can beat me? Have you forgotten I taught you all your moves? I know every single thing about you, Valerie.” Drake smirked. “Even though we haven’t seen each other for a long time, that doesn’t mean you can actually beat me. I’ve been in the underworld for a long time, you know.”
Valerie sighed in irritation. “You talk too much, Uncle,” she mumbled and cracked her neck on both sides, eyes burning with fury.
“Now, shut up and fight,” she demanded without fear.
With that, they both launched at each other.
