It had been almost a week since Morticia’s team started working in collaboration with Scarlett Holdings. Throughout this time, Morticia made sure to keep her discussions with Klaus strictly professional.
Although, occasionally, they exchanged a few words outside of work, Morticia ensured it was always brief.
Other employees noticed this and wondered how Morticia managed to stay close to the strict, cold president infamous as the “ruthless devil” in the business world.
But Klaus was dying inside. Morticia wasn’t cold to him, but she was distant. He hadn’t had a single moment alone with her-not even once.
Another thing gnawed at him: Morticia and Nolan Wimp. Were they together now? Especially since they had once gone on a date.
A week had passed, and though Klaus had promised to give her some time, it was killing him. Yet, he didn’t want to cross any boundaries.
“Mr. Klaus,” Wyatt’s voice snapped him out of his thoughts. He looked up and sighed.
“Yeah… Sorry, I zoned out a bit,” Klaus replied, tapping his fingers on the table.
“My wife and kid sent their regards last night. Thank you for clearing up the school issue, sir. It means a lot,” Wyatt said. Wyatt, though older than Klaus, had a youthful face. He was married with a daughter.
“You’re welcome,” Klaus replied, grabbing a file and clenching his jaw.
“You alright, sir?”
Slamming the file on the table, Klaus pressed his fingers to his temple.
“How long should it take? The more I see her, the more I can’t control myself,” he admitted.
“You’ve been gone for four years, sir. Every bit of information you gave her must have been overwhelming. She needs time.”
“How long?” Klaus asked.
“Weeks… probably months.”
Klaus groaned, slamming his jaw shut before letting out a long sigh. “Any updates?”
“Miss Winter is attending tomorrow’s evening event. She mentioned she has a proposal.”
A thought clicked in Klaus’s mind, his brows furrowing before a slow smirk formed on his lips.
“Invite the team to the event.”
“What?” Wyatt blinked in surprise.
“It’s our first charity event since the partnership. As our collaborators, they can attend,” Klaus replied.
Wyatt nodded, even though he wondered what Klaus was planning.
“Alright, boss. I’ll inform them.”

“Wooo! A party!” Lisa clapped her hands excitedly; others were excited too.
“I’m not going,” Morticia said, her eyes glued to her system.
“Why?” Lisa whimpered.
“We still have a lot to do,” she sighed, folding her arms. “You all can go on without me.”
“But… it wouldn’t be a bad idea if we all went,” Nolan said, giving Morticia an urging look.
“I don’t like parties,” she replied, and they all went back to work.
“Well, I heard Winter Hales is coming,” Lisa’s friend whispered to Winter.
“Really? Oh my God, that idol? I can’t wait to see her beauty in real life!” Lisa squealed.
“Yeah. Rumor has it she is a close friend of Mr. Sinclair-almost like besties when it comes to business. She is definitely showing up…”
Morticia, who secretly heard them, stopped typing. Her fingers continued again, this time going into Google to search for the name Winter Hales.
“Shh,” Nolan hushed them, and they both stopped talking. After Nolan faced his work, Lisa stared at him, zoning out in her thoughts.
“Won’t you tell him?” her friend asked, staring at Nolan too.
Lisa snapped out of it and cleared her throat.
“Where is the event happening?” Morticia asked, and the whole team looked at her in surprise. “I’d like to attend.”

The polished floors reflected the light. Soft music played as people in elegant suits and gowns mingled, glasses of champagne in hand. The air was filled with quiet conversations about business and social matters.
Among the crowd was Klaus, dressed in a fine black retro suit, looking dashing as usual. His hair was combed backward, his aura charming and swooning every lady that watched his movements.
Whispers of admiration rolled off their tongues, but none of them were bold enough to approach him.
His aura was strict, and he wore not a single smile on his face.
A light uproar came from the entrance as Winter arrived. She wore a white dress that flowed behind her. The fitted gown accentuated her curvy shape, and she had a badass look that made men drool.
A smile crept onto Winter’s face as she walked toward Klaus. She removed her fluffy jacket, handing it over to her assistant.
“Klaus,” she greeted with a smile.
“Hello, Winter,” Klaus replied with a small smile.
“That must be her. Wow, she must be so close to the president!” Lisa squealed beside Nolan. “Oh my God, she is so beautiful!”
“Sure she is,” Nolan replied, and Lisa’s smile disappeared.
“What?”
“I was just agreeing with you,” Nolan said, looking back at Klaus.
Lisa scoffed and snapped, “How could you be so slow, huh? Why fall for every woman you meet?!”
Nolan blinked at her words. “Me?”
“Never mind,” she said and walked away. A paper fell from her purse. Nolan tried to call her back, but she was walking away fast.
He sighed and picked up the paper, his eyes widening at the content.
~I love you, Nolan. Why can’t you just notice me already?~
Nolan snickered, his heart racing at the words.
“She’s so cute,” he mumbled.
A car pulled up outside the event, and her red heels emerged first, leading to her long, slender legs. She got down from the car, her brown hair blowing behind her.
Morticia sighed and mumbled, “I can’t believe I’m here.”
Closing her door, she began approaching the entrance. She was wearing a red dress that hugged her figure perfectly. The deep red fabric shimmered under the light, flowing elegantly with each step. Her hair was styled in soft waves, and her makeup was simple yet stunning, emphasizing her natural beauty.
As Morticia walked in, all eyes turned to her. Conversations quieted briefly as people admired her presence. Some whispered, trying to guess who she was, while others simply stared.
Klaus, who had been speaking with Winter, froze when he saw Morticia enter. His hand tightened around the glass he held, his usually composed expression slipping for a moment.
Damn! She is hot.
Their eyes met for a moment, but Klaus was the first to avert his attention, placing it back on Winter.
The event started; Klaus sat in front with other special guests.
Morticia’s gaze was on him the entire time.
“Why the hell did he invite us when all he is doing is ignoring us right now?” Morticia mumbled, irritation clear in her voice.
How close was this Winter woman to Klaus?
The way they discussed and smiled at each other made her mind race.
The event ended, gentle music playing as some of the guests began dancing to the tune.
Klaus finally went to meet the team with Winter. If looks could kill, then Winter would be unconscious… Morticia’s eyes were literally spitting fire.
“Thank you all for coming,” Klaus said to them.
They all bowed with a laugh. “It’s our pleasure, sir!”
“It’s nice to finally meet the talented team Klaus talked about. Good job, guys,” Winter said, and the team smiled except for Morticia.
“Hey, Klaus, wanna dance?” Winter asked, and Klaus blinked. He flashed a glance at Morticia, who looked away.
“C’mon, it’s been a long time since we saw each other. A dance wouldn’t hurt,” Winter dragged him to the dance floor before he could retort.
Klaus gave her a questioning look, and Winter winked at him.
“Trust me,” she whispered.
Morticia scoffed in disbelief.
Meanwhile Lisa was disturbed as she searched her bag.
“What are you looking for?” her friend asked.
“A paper… that could ruin my life,” Lisa replied.
“What?”
“Hey, Lisa… you dropped this,” Nolan said, stretching the paper to her.
Lisa’s face turned pale, her heart racing. “Did you…”
“Wanna dance with me?” he asked, extending his hand to her.
Lisa was stunned but lifted her hand to accept his offer. Nolan then led her to the dance floor.
Meanwhile, Morticia’s cold aura began to affect the remaining team members still seated beside her. Her cold eyes were on Klaus and Winter the whole time.
They were so close… Her blood was boiling at the scene, yet she couldn’t look away.
“They look so much like a couple,” someone chimed behind her.
“A perfect woman for Mr. Sinclair… She is so beautiful… Perfect…”
Morticia couldn’t hold it any longer. She finished her glass of beer and rose to her feet, approaching them.
Her steps were deliberate and full of confidence.
Klaus, who spotted her, disconnected himself from Winter. His eyes wondered what she was about to do.
Morticia crossed the distance, grabbed him by the collar, and crashed her lips against his.
Right before everyone! Gasps filled the air and eyes widened.
Soon, she pulled away, gazing at him with cold eyes.
“You’re mine, Klaus. Did you forget that for a moment?”
Klaus smirked, like vice, his hand collared her neck, and reconnected his lips with hers.
He kissed her-hard and passionate… full of long desire.
The media literally exploded!
