Jamie stared at the unconscious Klaus with a satisfied grin on his face. Klaus’s phone buzzed on the floor, flashing the name Bunnie on the screen.
Jamie’s smile disappeared as his gaze landed on it.
“She’s calling him,” he mumbled, his gaze darkening.
Reaching for the hammer in his pocket, he slammed it on Klaus’s phone. He did it again and again until it was completely destroyed.
Taking a deep breath, his eyes settled on Klaus again. “Fucking asshole,” he chuckled darkly.
“I would have loved to kill you with my bare hands, but… sigh… that weird guy Simon who released me said I should make it look like an accident,” he scoffed. “Let’s see how this goes.”
Simon had chosen Klaus’s favorite place-the beach-to stage the “accident.” It was supposed to look as though Klaus had drowned himself, ensuring it would take time for anyone to find the body and making it impossible to trace back to them.
Groaning, Jamie dropped Klaus onto the sand, gasping for air.
“This motherfucker is heavy,” he breathed. “What the hell does he eat?”
Jamie badly wanted to kill Klaus with his bare hands, but this would do. He was planning to go after Morticia next, and Simon had promised to help.
“Jamie?”
Jamie froze at the familiar voice behind him. Slowly, he turned around.
“Jamie” she whispered again, tears streaming down her face.
“Morticia,” Jamie chuckled.
“Let him go,” she warned. “I’ve called the police, and they’re on their way.”
Jamie laughed lightly. “Is that the first thing you’re going to say to me? After such a long time, Morty? Don’t you miss me?”
“Let. Him. Go,” she pressed, her voice cold.
“Let him go?” Jamie scoffed. “Do you have any idea how it feels to be trapped in those barricades, having only one person on your mind? You drive me crazy, Morticia. Day and night, I whispered your name, wanting to hold you close, yet you betrayed me!” he roared.
As the sea waves washed over the shore, they splashed onto Klaus’s face.
“You don’t have to do this. Do you think I would ever want you if you keep this up? I hate you even more,” she said coldly.
Jamie scoffed and stepped closer to her. Morticia didn’t back away, showing no sign of fear, though her heart pounded like a caged animal.
“The only reason you can’t see my love is because of him,” his voice lowered, dripping with venom as he crossed the distance between them. He lifted his hand to touch her face, but she averted her head. Like a vice, he grabbed her neck instead.
“You’re mine, Morty,” he growled.
“Get away from me,” she gasped, wondering when the police would arrive.
“Get your hands off her.”
A deep voice sounded behind them. They both turned to see Klaus standing, one hand gripping his waist while the other dangled. Blood dripped down his skin.
“Oh, look who’s awake,” Jamie licked his lips, drawing Morticia closer. “Mine,” he declared, caressing her face.
“Klaus,” Morticia’s eyes widened as she noticed Klaus was in a worst state. What had happened to him?
Fury surged through her, and she elbowed Jamie in the abdomen twice before turning to kick him in the groin. Jamie groaned in pain as Morticia rushed toward Klaus, reaching to touch his face. Her eyes settled on the wound at his waist.
“Did he hurt you?” he whispered, his voice cracking as he teetered on the edge of unconsciousness.
“How could you worry about me right now? You’re bleeding so much… let’s get out of here,” she sobbed.
“You should leave. I’ll protect… you,” he struggled to say.
A clicking sound interrupted them. Jamie pointed a gun at them.
“None of you are going anywhere,” he growled. Morticia protectively stood in front of Klaus.
“Get out of the way, Morticia.”
“Let him go, and I’ll come with you,” Morticia offered.
“Bun… nie,” Klaus called weakly.
“Once he gets to the hospital, I’ll go wherever you go, Jamie. We can start our relationship over. I’ll try to love you back… so please let him go,” her jaw clenched.
Jamie scoffed. “Do you think I’m stupid enough to fall for that?”
Morticia scoffed as well. “Yes, you are. I just distracted you.”
“What?” Jamie blinked in confusion.
“You forgot I have a brother,” Morticia smirked as Jamie felt a sudden tap on his shoulder.
The moment he turned, Vincent’s fist collided with his face, sending Jamie sprawling onto the sand.
“Shit,” Jamie cursed, scrambling to point his gun at Vincent, but it was swiftly kicked away before he could fire. The weapon skidded across the ground, landing near Klaus.
Vincent grabbed Jamie, yanking him up before delivering another punch. Jamie managed to block the next strike, but Vincent’s well-placed kick to his waist sent him staggering backward.
Before Jamie could recover, Vincent unleashed a flurry of punches, targeting various parts of his body. Though Jamie attempted to block some of the blows, imapct force left him battered and bloodied.
Vincent seized the opportunity to twist Jamie’s arm with a sickening crack. Jamie cried out in pain, and with one final punch, Vincent sent him stumbling backward-straight into Klaus’s waiting arm.
“Hey, Mr. Wimp…” Klaus’s voice was low and dangerous, his arm locking firmly around Jamie’s neck. His breath tickled Jamie’s ear as he spoke.
“I’d love to use my blades on you right now,” Klaus whispered, his tone venomous. “But that would be a waste of time, seeing as you’re already dead.”
Jamie’s eyes widened in terror as the cold metal of a gun pressed against the side of his head.
“Adios, motherfucker.”
BANG!
The gunshot echoed sharply in the air. Jamie’s blood splattered onto the sand as his body went limp. Klaus released him, letting the lifeless form collapse to the ground.
Vincent stepped closer, examining Jamie’s body.
“He’s dead,” Vincent confirmed, his voice grim.
Klaus nodded, his gaze shifting to Morticia. She looked like she’d seen a ghost-her pale face and wide eyes filled with unspoken questions. But before Klaus could utter a word, his strength gave out. His head spun, his vision blurred, and he collapsed.
